Very authentic Italian restaurant. The lasagna had a great blend of cheese, veal and beef. The fish was fresh and coked to perfection. This will be our new go-to Italian restaurant for the Santa Cruz area. Giovanni, the owner and chef, came out to visit with us between the appetizer and main course. Very attentive wait staff, job well done!

My husband and I came here hungry for great Northern Italian food and we found it! We had the gnocchi formaggm and it melted in our mouths. He had the Veal with porcini Mushrooms and I had the SeaBass special cooked whole with head and tail and skin. Both were delicious! Giovanni, the owner, was warm and welcoming - he even came to our table to help me fillet the fish! Conversation continued from there. Our waiter, Matt, was attentive, helpful, fun and friendly. We felt like we were part of the extended family! A fun and relaxing evening of food. I highly recommend Lago di Como.

We love Italian food and have been spoiled with the best! This restaurant is ok- the food is not great but it's not bad either. The service was really bad but that may have been our waiter who was new and quite forgetful. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We went here for my daughters birthday. The waitor was great. Very attentive and very Italian. The pasta dishes seemed to be their strong point. I want to go back and try the pizza. I had the veal scallopini and it was ok. The mushroom glaze was like gravy and the seasonal veggies were just broccoli and carrots. In the middle of summer I expect something more creative.

Have lived in Santa Cruz 40 years and did not know about this little restaurant (it hasn't been here that long!). This is a small, neighborhood type place with great food. The wine list is not extensive but adequate; they did have a hard to find Italian white at a price much lower than I recently paid in San Francisco. The location is close to the water but unfortunately not on the water, so there is little ambience of note to recommend it. But, if you are a fan of northern Italian cuisine at a reasonable price I certainly do recommend Lago di Como.

Enjoyed a well prepared and delicious dinner. Our server was attentive but not intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu and the wine, and very friendly. I tried their special salad, mixed greens and fresh tomatoes which was perfectly dressed, ample, and but not heavy and the vegan pizza which was little light on vegetables but still very good. I tried the special wiine flight of Italian whites, finding them each delightful. I will go again and have already recommended it to friends.

We've been to Lago di Como half a dozen times now. Each time we've had outstandingly delicious food. Hubby loves the steak; he's a steak nut and says it's consistently the best he's ever had. I've loved every pasta dish I tried. Had an excellent pizza one night--nice, thin crust with tasty prosciutto--yum! Not heavy or greasy. The staff is always cheerful and personable. Our kids love it too, which is saying a lot. Give it try! You won't be sorry.

The food was tasty, hot, and the perfect quantity. Our server did a very good job of handling several tables that were seated at the same time. We opted to sit outside because there was a LARGE birthday party inside, and we knew it would be loud. It was a good thing we did, because in fact they were so loud that we even heard them outside! I would not recommend the restaurant under those conditions, and won't stay if we see that there is a large celebration going on the next time we go. Otherwise, I highly recommend it!

We live nearby. We reserved online. Our table wasn't ready. We waited a long time to be greeted by our waiter, and waited a long time before he came to take our order.....we were getting impatient. We had the pasta pescadore. The pasta overdone the sauce was salty. The Insalata Pomodori e Cipolle had very thick and not particularly flavorful tomatos and was nothing special. Cavatelli was an unappealing presentation, slightly soggy. We asked three different people for the check without success. The hostess finally came again and then remembered we wanted our check. Cute place, authenic accents, mediocre food and very slow and inattentive service. We wont be back!

My food was very good. After being asked by the server how everything was, a friend let her know that she did not care for her saffron fish raviolis. She had taken one bite. The server said "sorry" and left. That was it. We wondered why she asked us in the first place how everything was. A few minutes later the friend called her back over and ordered another entre. Getting a refill on water seemed almost impossible. I finally got my own and the water person apologized. The restaurant was also very hot but otherwise very pleasant for people who like to hear each other talk. Nice music was playing in the background.

Overall a lovely dining experience for us as we celebrated our daughter's birthday. A little disappointed that the birthday wasn't noted by anyone, though. Salads were delicious and 2 of 3 entrees--fish-filled ravioli with saffron sauce and the penne with bolognese--were both delicious and noteworthy; my "special" spaghetti with mussels & seafood in a light red sauce was very ordinary and not worthy or mention, unfortunately. Expected more complicated flavors... Service was very attentive yet unobtrusive which makes for a good server. We will definitely return.

I live just blocks from this restaurant and have been meaning to give it a try after hearing nice things from family and friends. We really enjoyed our dinner overall and only had a couple minor things to keep it from having that fifth star. We went there on a Saturday night, and they were very busy, but they were well staffed and the service was excellent. We only waited a couple minutes for our table and since we had a reservation, it was exactly as expected. Nice start..., we were seated and had quick and excellent service. The only complaint was that it was really loud and it was hard to hear each other. The food was excellent though, from a pizza appetizer to my rib-eye steak, to my wife's chicken we were happy about the food

The first time we tried Lago Di Como we was for Valentine's Day and we had their fixed menu that was very good. We decided to try their regular menu this time and we really enjoyed our meal. I had the fresh fish of the evening which was red snapper and it was very fresh. My husband had the spaghetti and enjoyed the flavor and the portions are generous. The restaurant is well lit and very nicely decorated but the only problem is the noise level. It is very loud almost to the point of being annoying.

Lago di Como had been on our radar as a local place to try for some time; we finally made a reservation last Sunday night. I won't bore you with a play-by-play of our entire evening, but the highlights are: 1. Earnest, enthusiatic service; 2. a compact but well-organized wine list; 3. Delicious food, carefully prepared and plated. We will be back to explore more of the menu and wine list and we look forward to sharing this gem with friends.

Our reservations for Valentine's weekend were late, so by the time we arrived, they were out of the items we had chosen, however, the entrees we did order were delicious and the wine that the waiter recommended was fabulous pairing with our meal. The calamari we ordered as an appetizer was cooked to perfection. The night was made special by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff from the hostess to the chef.
