Lafayette RestaurantSpectacular MealWe were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and we must say our meal could not have been more delicious and enjoyable. The food was incredible. The bread was wonderful (plentiful and excellent assortment); had the beet salad and tuna carpaccio for appetizers; a fabulous watermelon and champagne sorbet; the crab cakes and scallops for entrees; vanilla mousse with basil sugar for dessert. Everything was beautifully served and our server, Clarence, was impeccable and yet so warm and friendly and treated us like the most special guests ever! Everything was perfect right down to the wine selection and the beautiful window by which we were seated. We're so grateful for the experience and it will always be a very special memory.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinner partyAmazing service and food. One of the best dinners we have had. The food is quite good as well. I had the black bean soup and the gnocchi for brunch on this visit. Also, the bread prior to the meal should receive mention. Service was quite good overall, but slightly lagging towards the end of the meal. I would certainly return for a dinner on a future visit to DC.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and service.Wonderful dinner and awesome service. We booked brunch for a family trip to Washington without realizing it was Easter. What a sumptuous repast the Hay Adams delivered! The food was superb, the roast meats so tender they cut like butter, delicate sauces and condiments to accompany them, creative salads and side dishes, fresh caught sushi, delicious and beautiful desserts, all presented with elegance and in an expansive manner so one could move freely and enjoy the view of the skyline with the tables well spaced so no one felt crowded, too often the case with some brunches. The President and his family kindly capped off the meal by making an appearance for their annual Easter church service! Staff were most gracious and attentive. A memorable experience.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is an ultimate WashingtonThis is an ultimate Washington power dining location. Breakfast for 4 was over $100 and all I ate was fruit. The prices for breakfast foods are beyond stratospheric and well into the ridiculous. But you go here for the location, and the ambience. I don't know what lunch or dinner would be like. As breakfast food goes it was well done and very nice but there's only so much you can do with eggs.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was lovelyThe restaurant was lovely traditionally appointed room with a romantic live piano music during dinner. The food was from a special menu created for the Cherry Blossom Festival it was innovative appetizer and very good as was the rest of the meal. The whole menu and the wine pairing were spot on. The only disappointment was the view we thought the restaurant was at the top of the Hay-Adams hotel with a lovely view of Lafayette Park and the White House but it is on the ground level. The upper area is for special events only.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and the service wereThe food and the service were superb. Victor is the best waiter in Washington! He is always courteous, professional, cordial, and thoughtful.
