I missed old days when Chef Lacroix was around. The restaurant was never known for service, but it was even worse. A manager person is always reliable and pleasent, but a waiter name Ben was nothing but rude and unfriendly. It had been always our favorite place in Philly, but not anymore. So sad.

The food and the service were great. The bathrooms need a lot of attention. The ladies room was dirty all over: the counters, the floors and the smell was horrible. I will think twice before I use one of the bathrooms again. A place with such food and prices should upgrade their bathrooms and keep them clean.

I've only visited Lacroix once before, for Sunday brunch about four years ago when Chef Lacroix was still running the kitchen. Judging by our return visit for brunch, Matt Levin has maintained the high standards established by Chef Lacroix and moved forward. Our guests were overwhelmed by the unusual selections.

Although they did not have a table ready for us (open, just not cleaned off and re-set for almost 20 min.)-considering how it was a later reservation and special occasion one would have hoped they would have comped a drink or something. However even with this snag, the overall experience was wonderful. This chef proves that it's not just about flash and trash for everyone...that some people still take the tme and have the knowledge to make excellent cuisine. Truley worth every penny. Please-do not bring your children here and ruin it for every other paying customer. If you can pay for a pricey dinner, you can spring for a sitter (of course there are some rare exceptions-but be sure about it).

Very very good food. The morel mushrooms and the duck were amazing. Only two problems. The wine list was way over priced. I have no problem paying $300 for a really creative tasty meal however, Lacroix hasn't picked up that very good restaraunts charge for wonderful food they create, not over charge for wine you can get anywhere. NY, Paris, and San Francisco have caught on. Your turn Philly! Also, there was no discription of the cheese plates. You have to really understand cheeses to know them by name. It would help if the staff was more educated so they could explain them.

We and our friends had a excellent meal. The staff was well informed and extremely helpful. We all had the Tasting Menu, and enjoyed every item that was served. The Kobe beef and the Spanish Octopus were beyond description. As they do not offer a Wine pairing, the Somilier, Eric, created a half glass selection for us. It was well done. When the Chef was informed that we had dined at Restaurants that he had cooked at before, he invited us into the Kitchen to have desert at the Chef's Table. For a Restaurant of such high standard, the staff made it a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

The food did not live up to the price that night. Scallops were gritty, the "crispy" Yucca fries undercooked and tough, the fish very plain presented for the price. Wonderful taste so, but not quiet as good executed as I would have liked. Still would try it again.

Great atmosphere, outstanding food, definitely one of the finest restaurants I have ever been to. Lacroix is one of those places that you have to go to, otherwise you would have a hard time believing that such restaurants exist. Of course, not a cheap place, but you definitely get what you pay for: we had dinner for two, with appertitivs (scotch, champagne), salads, main courses, desert, wine - the bill was USD 257.00, but worth every penny.

The next step of Sunday brunch "fine dining style" sans Las Vegas. Varied high end appetizers and entrees as well as comfort foods dressed up will satisfy the foodie in oneself. However, occasional misses among the entrees. Notably: Mushrooms watered down the scrambled eggs in a vessel ; Crab souffle was bland ; dry venison meatballs. Brunch service surpasses most fine dining restaurants at night. Waitstaff is attentive and genuine. Park scenery is a serene touch atop a hotel in Rittenhouse Square.

We had what really was a lovely time but one of our entrees had a huge problem. We had ordered a lamb gyro and there was plastic wrap inside the inner folded edge of the pita. First we found one small piece and then there was more. The waiter was apologetic and brought over a small cake stand of desserts to apologize. I was taking a friend to lunch & did not want to make a fuss but we were charged for the pita sandwich even though only 1/2 was eaten. I threw a party for my mom at Lacroix two years ago, brought a business meeting to the restaurant last year & dine there a few times a year with my husband for lunch and dinner. The kitchen usually sends out delicious and carefully prepared food but this error should never happen at Lacroix.

A near perfect dining experience, coming up short only when my duck was a little under done making it very difficult to not only cut(which was incredibly annoying), but chew as well. The flavor combination (with rhubarb) was wonderful and I am sure it would have been equal to everything else if cooked properly. The service was spot on without a miss all night. The wine list was extensive, nicely organized and not overwhelming. We will be back.

This was a superb meal...world class. Almost every dish was a perfectly executed, delicately flavored masterpiece. The one possible exception was the small portion of Kobe beef tartare that really didn't distinguish itself from more pedestrian steak tartare. Service was a bit spotty, but not bad. The wine list was OK. The selections are much stronger, as you'd expect, from France than from California. At $145.00, the Olivier LeFlaive Puligny-Montrachet was a good selection...but quite overpriced (liquor store price of $45.00 +/-). Overall, however, even at $500.00 for two (with tip), this was a terrific meal. Daniel and Bouloud in New York are overall better restaurants, but Lacroix is in the same league and this is Philly, after all.

Some of the food is outstanding and interesting, but in other cases, the basics are lacking. When cooking meat, the chef either does not know how to honor the request of the diner or refuses to do so. We asked for steak cooked medium and it came out rare. Then when we sent it back, it took quite a while for the platter to return - it should have been very quick, as it is needed only a little more cooking. The desserts at lunch are a nice feature - very small and delicious. The restaurant is quiet with large windows overlooking trees -- a nice change compared to so many other very noisy and dark restaurants.
