L'Absinthe BrasserieWe had a lovely experienceWe had a lovely experience at this east midtown neighborhood gem. I can't say a negative thing about this place. Great ambience in an intimate, warm setting on a lovely tree-lined street. Food was all wonderful, service superb. Was sorry when the evening was over. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone looking for a special place away from the crazy atmosphere of lots of NYC midtown tourist area restaurant.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen you are tired of creativeWhen you are tired of creative or edgy restaurants, return here for a reminder of how satisfying classic French meals can be. But the service can be a bit inattentive and the pricing can bewilder you. How about $20 for the evening special appetizer of two white asparagus steamed and served with a simple vinaigrette. Even more offensive was that it was off-menu so the price was a surprise.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect brunchL'absinthe is a neighborhood favorite of ours; however, I had never been there for brunch before. It could not have been more delightful! The sun was pouring in along with a fresh breeze through the open front on one of the few lovely days we have had this summer and this spilled into every aspect of our meal, which both my guest and I found delicious. The staff was kind and attentive to our special wishes on how our eggs, etc. should be cooked. The flowers, enormous urns of fruit blossoms, were magnificent, a match for La Grenouille's!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI hadn't been to this restaurantI hadn't been to this restaurant in many years because I found it unnecessarily stuffy. However, my experience this time was fabulous. In addition to the food being extremely good, the service was wonderful.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMChoucroute GarnieThis is my husband's favorite dish, and we were delighted to see it on the menu -- hadn't expected it to be (as he judged it) "the best he'd ever eaten," including in Paris.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French placeWe had a lunch Outing with our friends. Everything was great, but we missed a good wine sommelier. Probably he/she would come for a dinner time?!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfectMy ears must be more sensitive than they used to be. And if there'd been a little less time between courses....the food was great, the service really nice, except for the long lapses. I'll definitely go back, maybe for a much-quieter lunch. The scallops were lovely..the steak tartare authentic.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMa thoroughly enjoyable meala thoroughly enjoyable meal at a "grown-up" establishment. Very good food, polite service, pleasant atmosphere and overall dining experience4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMlike being in Paris in thelike being in Paris in the '20s. Expensive, but you get your money's worth.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVive L'Absinthe!A touch of Paris on 67th Street -- authentic, charming, elegant, delicious. The choucroute is memorable. The salads are superb. The staff is professional.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this restaurant. TheLove this restaurant. The food is authentically French, with a light touch - and the lovely belle epoque decor is intimate and pleasing. Our son had scallops with a dusting of truffle which he pronounced delicious, and I had rack of lamb, pricey but generously portioned. They produced a thin, warm apple tart for a birthday dessert that was heavenly.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA real gem on the eastsideWhenever we are in New York we have dinner there. We have sent a number of friends to the restaurant and they all love it. Wonderful place on the upper eastside.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like choucroute garni,If you like choucroute garni, this is the place to go!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Parisian atmosphereBeautiful Parisian atmosphere matched with excellent food - a lovely restaurant. It was my birthday and they produced a delicious thin apple tart with ice cream, candle, and decorated plate. The only thing wrong was that our server brought the food a bit too fast, which made the meal feel rushed. Otherwise perfect.1/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJoyeux Noel!Magnificently authentic brasserie that (almost) makes a flight to Paris irrelevant. And the food matches the decor -- ethereally light and delicious pike quenelles with lobster, creative approaches to seasonal specialties like Nantucket scallops, and if you speak French, the staff and many of the clients will understand. Wonderful Christmas Eve venue.12/24/2012 12:00:00 AMI asked to have my food wrappedI asked to have my food wrapped up and put in a container...but the server threw it away...I frequent this restaurant & usually spend over 200.00 for dinner and I wanted to take it home....I hate to see excellent food wasted especially made by a great chef !!12/15/2012 12:00:00 AM
