Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great, reasonable prices - service staff was great! Will go again for sure!"

  • "The hostess was very polite, even walked us to the door and held the door open when we were leaving. The food was delicious. The server was great, except we never received our bread at the beginning even though the oil was delivered for dipping and other tables received bread. This is a great place if you like Italian food and seafood. There weren't many non-seafood options."

  • "Very friendly, obliging and knowledgeable staff. We asked if the music could be turned down and they willingly obliged. Two appetizers were ordered, the prawn one and the meatball one, and both were soft, delicate and delicious. All four entrees were very good too - the black linguine dish, the Arctic char, the special Atlantic salmon pasta dish, and the pasta dish that was like mini cannellonis stuffed with veal. The tiramisu was a bit disappointing but the panna cotta was very good. Very good wine list and very good service. Would recommend and would definitely return."

  • "This was my second experience at la vita e Bella and it was as amazing as the first. The food is simple the best. The flavours are outstanding. The service is fantastic, very attentive, they took time to recommend and pair wines for the meal and explained the reasoning. I have recommended this restaurant on numerous occasions to friends. The first time we dined here was with a group of 8 friends and the second time for a romantic dinner. Can not wait for the summer as they have a patio!"

  • "Always a favorite, especially before Flames games. Food is always terrific. Last time there, though, our (male) waiter copped an attidude. He was brusque and inattentive. I think we annoyed him. We'll keep coming back - but will be VERY disappointed if he has our table again."

  • "Perfect location before the hockey game. If you like good food, good service and good wine, this is your spot. I go here repeatedly and always need to book well in advance on game nights. Love the taste, love the ambiance. My top pick for dinner."

  • "Great spot for reliable Italian food. I've been here numerous times and the food and service never fail to disappoint. If you are looking for a quiet dinner with tasty home made Italian dishes that won't break the bank, this is your spot"

  • "late booking and were seated in the far back, we requested another table and were accommodated. First sight of server 15 min after seating, water at 20 min. After that food and wine came promptly. biggest criticism is the quality of the food and that is why I would not recommend this restaurant . Arancini to start, quite bland. Gnocchi, very hot - the server warned me before - but the consistency of the Gnocchi was rubbery, not an enjoyable meal. we also had risotto which was bland, watery rather than creamy and the scarse seafood on top was hard and over spicy. all meals were clearly too pricey for what they were. Even the foccacia seemed supermarket style, I'll doubt it was made in the restaurant. But the the wine, Barolo, was good ."

  • "After a previously reviewed poor experience, my husband insisted we give them another chance. Prior to our arrival at the restaurant, the manager Jarred called to notify me that we had chosen another noisy Flames game evening. Right then I was impressed with their attentiveness this time around. We were seated at a much better table, the service was excellent and all of our chosen dishes were also very good. So glad Jarred made the difference for us! We'll be back again... even on a Flames night!"

  • "Had dinner here before the hockey game on Friday. We arrived very early and even though the restaurant was yet to open they seated us and served us wine and appetizers. Service was exceptional. Food was delicious. Staff friendly and efficient. We will definitely return."

  • "Staff is what makes a huge difference in your dining experience. They are very knowledgeable about what they are serving. The host/hostages are always pleasant and ready to accommodate. My husband and brother -in-law enjoy going here before the hockey games. Four of us went Saturday evening and had a lovely dinner;, two great bottles of wine for under $230.. The salad with the buffalo cheese was amazing and easily shared between two. The only thing, I thought our pasta was a little on the cool side - could have been spicier too."

  • "The food here is exceptional! The caprese salad is a unique twist on the traditional variety. The portions are good. Lots of flavour in every dish."

  • "Service was impeccable! Welcoming, knowledgable, friendly and personable. Room was cozy and romantic. Portions were large. Wow, the poplette appetizer could have fed both my husband and I by itself! Highly recommend the gnocchi and the turconi - a memorable rich dish of creamy parmesan indulgence. Will definitely return!"

  • "I've been here 3 times so far. I took my fiancé there on our first date and again on our 2 year. Great food, great service. It's a hidden gem where the food is made fresh everyday. I believe our server's name was Leslie, she was really friendly and knowledgeable with the food and wine menu which was nice because I'm not as knowledgable as some when it comes to Italian food and wine."

  • "I had a great time at the restaurant. The Lasagna dish was a little bland but other courses were exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "We went for Valentine's. I have to say that everything was superb... but the food. The service was outstanding, cheerful, respectful and very profesional, hardly you will find any other kind of service of this kind. The place resembles an old calgarian house, wooden floors and that cozy atmosphere that makes you nostalgic. A candle on the table was the cherry on the cake. The problem was the food. It was not bad, but it wasn't up to the place. I had the soup, rissotto, trouche and cake, while my gf had the insalatta, rissotto, lasagna and tiramisu. The feeling was that if it had been 30% less expensive this would have been an outstanding place, but due to the price it was an OK place."

  • "Best kept secret in Calgary. Amazing food, friendly and knowledgeable staff who do an excellent job at making you feel at home and well taken care of."

  • "The atmosphere and service were great. It was a valentines day set menu. Not much choice - lasagna, veal, or trout. We started with salad - the vegetables were fresh and the dressing nice however scattered on top was a bunch of torn pieces of the same bread that was served before the meal -soggy! As we don't eat veal and lasagna seemed to heavy after the rissotto and gnocchi from the previous course, we went with the trout. The trout was a big miss - it was way under seasoned with a strange flavour that simply didn't work. With the trout was pesto which again did not work . I assume the pesto was an after thought that was a last minute attempt to add some flavour to a dish that had less flavour than cardboard."

  • "We booked reservations for lunch time, it was to say good-bye to a colleague. There was aprox. 15 of us, they set us in a lovely private room in the back. The service was very good, the food was good, the bread basket was a nice addition. We all enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. I would recommend dinner or lunch here to anyone!"

  • "Very bland, boring food. Had the elk ragu and a pasta dish. I would be embarrassed to serve them to any guest. Pasta was very undercooked and tasted like a 4 year old made it."

  • "We went to La vita e Bella for dinner before a hockey game. We chose this restaurant because it was highly recommended and the location was good. We were taking another couple. From the person on the telephone to the receptionist and waiter everyone was very personable and friendly. I had requested a quieter spot because two of the people have hearing problems. Our request was honoured and when I asked the waiter to turn down the music a little she did. The room had a personal touch and warm home dining room atmosphere. The house wine and delicious food completed an excellent dining experience. Ourselves and the other couple look forward to returning to this great restaurant."

  • "Went to La Vita E Bella before a Flames game with 3 others. Staff was attentive and polite and provided excellent recommendations for food and wine to accompany our selections. Items on the menu are limited but the selection seemed adequate and proved to be very satisfying. We had appetizers and a main each - the baked risotto balls were the favorite and came in a large enough portion that everyone got to sample the tasty treats! Food quality of the mains was outstanding and every dish that came out of the kitchen seemed well recieved by others nearby our table. Would strongly recommend a reservation on event-nights. We had plenty of time to enjoy our dining experience arriving 1.5 hours before our event."

  • "We were early on a Saturday night prior to Roughnecks game. Appies were the tomato salad, meat balls and crab cakes. Great flavor's in all however crab cakes seemed to be more filling than crab (would not do it again). Mains were all great. Bison, gnocchi and Arctic Char were on the list and all were great. Would certainly return. This is a great place and can't wait for the patio to open in the spring."

  • "We come here every year for our anniversary and this year they went above and beyond for us. Accommodating us with a special menu and really making the evening special. Thanks to Jared and our servers that were so good to us. We will absolutely be back again and can't wait to see you a few more times in the coming months"

  • "the lasanga was very good. it was pretty loud on the day I went, but a hockey game was coming on in 2 hours and I think a majority were going there after."

  • "We requested a table away from the door and were sat in front of the door. The place was it's usual crammed and noisy before a Flames game. The 4 of us ordered the gnocchi and it arrived undercooked and excruciatingly spicy. We were all dripping sweat into our meals! Service was slow and it was so noisy we could not hear each other. The only thing this place had going for it is it's location. Next time I'll skip this place and save my money and wasted time with friends."

  • "Quiet on Sundays which is good. Pastas are good but no selection for cream based sauce. The tomato based pastas were good. OK service - could have been better given it was a quiet a night. Overall, reasonably priced food with nice ambience but hard to find parking."

  • "The quality in this restaurant has been slowly declining for the past couple of years. The real draw of this restaurant is the atmosphere and the service, which allowed the food to be passable, but the atmosphere no longer makes up for the poor food quality and the uninventive menu. Sadly, this neighbourhood restaurant is no longer on my list to visit."
