We arrived and noted that we had an OpenTable reservation, they seemed confused and said they had room to sit at the bar. Being a nice date night, my boyfriend and I opted for what we originally chose in our reservation, a seated table. Upon seating it took about 10-15 minutes for a waiter to come over, he was training someone so we tried to understand. Our food came out rather quickly. We both ordered fajitas, they were flavorful but nothing spectacular. Simply said, I thought it was strange to serve fajitas just on a lump on a plate, rather then in cast-iron, as they get cold at an outdoor venue quickly. Overall, just an okay experience.

A group of friends celebrated 2 birthdays here and had a great time! We loved sitting outside and had a great booth with heaters on either side. Food and drinks were excellent. Our server was very attentive. It was a great evening! The only negative was that there were no drink specials (drinks were pricey) but the food was reasonably priced. Would definitely return for another party or even a dinner for 2.

I was very pleased with overall experience at la vida. The service was exceptional, the mararitas were phoenominal (get the kowaki marg), and the food was better than I expected (loved the machaca enchiladas). Great for anything from date night, bday dinner, or just watching a game at the palapa bar.

Now that "El Corazon de Costa Mesa" has been kicked to the curb (thank god), this restaurant really does a nice job with this very cool location. Service is great, bar scene is hummin' and the drinks (pineapple-jalapeño margarita!) and the food (Maine lobster enchiladas!) is absolutely craveable. Thanks to all the folks from El Corazon for leaving and thanks to the folks at La Vida for bringing such a great experience to CM.

For a restaurant that just opened, I would expect a better quality of food and service. We went on a Friday evening. Our server did not check on us after she took out orders. We had to beg another server to get us some drinks. The food was tasteless. It is a good place to have a drink but not for dinner. The server cleaned the table and did not bring us utensils for dessert. I felt we would have recieved better service at Denny's.
