  • Wonderful 5th of July Celebration

    Dined on 7/5/2014
My husband and I (visiting from RI) decided to make last minute plans when we heard about the 5th of July fireworks along the Delaware River. We were thankfully able to get a table, and were graciously welcomed by the manager/owner, Angelo. He, along with our server made for a wonderful evening, and they were also very accommodating to our 3 year old son. The food was great, and we are happy we found this location. We will return when we visit PA again!

Went for a date night with my husband. Expected great things from number of stars... Not impressed. Awkward waitstaff with no personality. No interaction with us. Long wait for food. Crunchy pasta carbonara (not al dente, undercooked!!) Sent well-done filet mignon back for the medium I had ordered...husbands T-bone also sub-par. Food definitely sat under heat lamps...congealed dry sauces, stale bread... And the place was only half full. If not for the beautiful weather outside the date would have been a complete bust. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY HERE!!! Not worth it :( Trust me...

We went to La Veranda after my son's graduation from Drexel with a group of 7. They could not be more accommodating to us as we were held up in traffic. The food was outstanding in variety, quality and quantity. All in the party left extremely satisfied. The chef did an excellent job and the wait staff was extremely courteous. First time to visit, but it won't be the last. The set up also appears to provide an extremely romantic setting, if that is what you're looking for.

My wife & I booked a table here this past Sunday for her birthday. Original reservation was at 7, we moved it up to 5 with no problem. A table inside by the window with a view of the river. Large groups were leaving as their late lunch Christening and birthday celebrations were ending. We had a quiet romantic dinner together. Our waiter was very attentive, the fresh pasta with gorganzola was superb! My filet mignon was cooked to order, but no barolo sauce? My wife enjoyed her veal saltimbocca. The tiramisu was good, but not fresh. The limoncello was not served chilled. Overall the price was $150 with drinks, not bad but room for improvement.

This is a nice place to have a quiet meal with a nice view across the river. The wine list is good we chose a nice Italian white that went well with the asparagus soup and lobster special. We ended the night with canaloni to go. I recommend ordering from the specials. It would be a nice spot to have coffee and order from the extensive dessert menu. We will visit again the next time we are in Philly.

This is a nice place. The atmosphere was nice, not too loud but there are obnoxious diners everywhere you go. There was a table of loud, obnoxious diners near us for our dinner on 2/15/14 but that is no fault of the restaurant. I'm sure the view is really nice as well although we couldn't see much at night. The food was good and the service staff was excellent, very attentive. The food was a bit pricey for what you get and the wine prices were off the charts expensive. In my opinion you're paying for ambiance and location more than anything. I'd return here if someone else suggested it but for now I'll be exploring other restaurants in the city. Overall, a good experience.

We went to La Veranda after going to the Philly Home Show. We made the reservation through opentable.com and got out time. They greeted us and sat us immediately at a nice table for two with a very nice view of the river and Ben Franklin bridge. The service was a little slow but I don't mind since I like to dine. My salad was very good and my Polenta special was good but nothing to rave about. We also found a nice bottle of wine at a reasonable price. Overall the experience was 3 stars. The noise level for a restaurant seemed a little loud. My main complaint is that I was sitting below a heat vent that was chilling since by the time the air hit me it wasn't warm. I would ask for a different table if it annoys you.

Only thing I would say about this place is that if you like your calamari crispy then you be specific on that point, but it wasnt bad. Service was great, nice people. Great view of the Ben Franklin and water from indoors. Food was good, I got the NY Strip, medium rare, it was cooked perfect. My date ordered a veal dish, i dont remember, and I got 1 martini, 2 desserts. Bill was $100, worth it.

After swearing two years ago that I would never use LaVerenda Valet parking, I was running late on New Year's Eve and opted to use the convenient valet service again. Unfortunatly again I was very displeased witrh the valet service. It really leaves a sour taste to what was otherwise a very enjoyable night. I did not let it affect my rating of the resurant. As you can see I rated the service as outstainding. This applies only to the waiter and other staff we interacted with. If I encluded the valet service in that rating it would have been fair at best. Waiting 30 minutes or more to get your car is noty a customer first approach. You need to fix this!

La Veranda was a great choice to have dinner after seeing the early fireworks. The staff was a little confused by what patrons were doing-running outside to see the show, but they were accommodating. Our reservations were a full 30 minutes after the fireworks ended so we had a drink at the bar - although very small (8/10 seats) the bartender was very knowledgeable and attentive. The service was segmented. It felt as though they were not used to so many people in the restaurant and it showed by the staff. Overall the food was very good and the staff that we interacted with were more than capable although stretched a bit thin.

This was my first visit to La Veranda, although I have passed by the establishment often. To start off with I decided to valet park; the attendant was quick and friendly and most accommodating. From the moment we entered the front doors we were greeted and made to feel at home from the . maître d to the waiter it was top notch service all the way. To begin with my wife ordered the cream of Asparagus soup and I ordered the crab-meat stuffed mushrooms and both were very tasty. For the entree I ordered the T-Bone steak which they cut fresh to order and served with green beans and roasted potatoes. The steak was very big and thick and juicy and tasty. This was my first visit but it will not be my last.

Why? Because La Veranda is listed as having one of the top ten restaurants with a view in Philly. I can only imagine the gorgeous view in the summer months! We were VERY impressed with the service. Stuck in Philly's famous rush hour traffic, we called the restaurant and asked if it would be possible to push our reservation back a little. The answer was: "Of course, take your time and drive safely! Do not worry about the time, I will make sure you have a table waiting." Complimentary bruschetta greets you. My wife's Vitello Piccante was cooked to perfection and my veal, Bauletto All Abbeuzzese, was excellent, too! These were two of the best veal dishes we have enjoyed anywhere! Dessert was divine! Run, don't walk, to dine here!
