Diner Reviews
  • "Carbonara was on point! Went there for my mothers birthday and we had a wonderful dinner. Great view of downtown Reno and incredibly delicious tiramisu. I had the seafood linguini and it was decent."

  • "This was our first visit to the restaurant. We went early so we did not get to enjoy the Reno downtown views at night. Very good food and excellent service."

  • "The view from the large window in the dining room is pretty spectacular. I wish we had scheduled to be there a little bit later so we could have seen it at night, but it was still beautiful in the early evening. They have an outdoor dining space however it wasn't open as the weather wasn't warm enough yet. Can't wait to go back at a later time of day."

  • "Our group consisted of a "newly married" couple (50+) and the guys that golf together + wives. The service was terrific, good food & wine. Nice evening had by all. Several of the couples hadn't been to restaurant before & loved it! Thanks to our server, Lanna who handled the gang with ease."

  • "We found this place on tripadvisor. Best meal we had in Reno. The food is amazing. The service was top notch. Call for a reservation, recommended. Early dining is best. By 7pm the restaurant is full on a Friday night. Enjoy!"

  • "We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. We both had the seafood linguine which was quite good. I enjoyed a Caprese as well. My daughter thought her chicken Parmesan was a little disappointing. It does get noisy."

  • "We just moved to Reno and I wanted to find a special place for my husbands birthday. We had a wonderful dinner, the staff was awesome and the wine list had several of our favorites from Eldorado CA. From now on this will be a place that we go for a wonderful Italian dinner."

  • "Nice out of the way location. Food very good. I've never had a bad meal here. Prices very reasonable. For non-Italian diners they always have a few special items that are just as good as their specialty. Salads and vegetable choices are very fresh. Don't seem to be a handful of greens out of a bag but freshly made. Noise level can get a little intense if they are busy. Probably best if you make reservations if planning to dine during the traditional busy hours. On nicer days they have outside dining. I recommend at least a try if you have never been here before."

  • "Our first visit recommended by a friend. It was excellent. Only drawback was the excessive noise level - difficult to talk and be heard. However, it was a sunday night and crowded. Noise abatement in the ceiling would be a plus. The handicap parking spot is in violation with no sign on the building. City can resolve that issue."

  • "This is my second time at this restaurant. I am from New York and visit Reno twice a year on business. I found this restaurant with some associates on our last trip. We loved it then and we loved it again on or second try. Great food, Great view and Great service. A true winner in Reno."

  • "We try to come here once month, They have a good wine list a wood fired pizza oven. The pizzas are tasty with thin crusts, the view is lovely and we always have good service. They have a Monday night special any Pizza and a bottle of wine for $25.00 which we usually split and add a salad which is good value and Tuesday there is no corkage so it is truly BYOB."

  • "We were seated right away. Water and bread were delivered almost immediately. Our server took our order in a good amount of time. He was very polite and personable. He was also well versed on the menu. Food was delicious. My only disappointment was that a little pasta was not included on the plate with the entree."

  • "GO! First time I've been the for lunch and it was fantastic! It's easier for my wife and I to have lunch dates (kids are in school) so, we go somewhere different each time and I'm glad I choose La Vecchia. It was a memorable lunch."

  • "Going to La Vecchia on a Friday evening was the perfect way to end the work week. The location is perfect for a romantic night out with a fantastic view overlooking Reno, and the restaurant itself has a great environment. Staff made you feel like stars with their exceptional service and the food was prepared with precision and passion, and tasted great! It may sound too good, but you can see passion come out in people's work when you really look at what you are receiving, and La Vecchia's staff has it. The entire experience was wonderful and I will definitely recommend La Vecchia to anyone looking for a nice dinner out in Reno."

  • "La Vecchia has been consistently wonderful since it opened at this location until just recently. I've dined there twice in the last 6-7 weeks and have enjoyed the same great service and ambience as always, but the food has fallen short. The linguine with seafood was flat tasting, pasta overlooked and the seafood flavorless. The romaine salad with feta was very bad, soggy and drenched in dressing. The ravioli special was, both times, turkey and cranberries which sounds awful- time for a new special? The bruschetta appetizer with rock shrimp was fair, the shrimp coated in a gluey smoked mozzarella that didn't work. This place is much loved and I hope the recent experiences I've had are just isolated incidences."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the salmon and the rigatoni with a bottle of wine while our kids loved the meat ravioli. Our waiter was entertaining and attentive. It was a great family evening - we'll be back!"

  • "Don't know why it took us so long to go to this little gem. But we will surely be back. Wonderful waiter on a very crowded holiday night. Next time, we will try to book a table next to the awesome view."

  • "Remarkable menu at a conservative price. This was a repeat visit for two out of towners and we were not disappointed. Well worth finding your way to this restaurant if you are a visitor."

  • "If this had been our first time at La Vecchia we would not be back. However since I have been pleased in the past I will return. My filet mignon was ordered medium rare but was served well done. My wife's salmon was overcooked as well. Our dinner was disappointing but we will be back for another try."

  • "I thought the overall experience was very nice, I'm sure it would've been a better experience if not for the Christmas party that was being held, it took away the romantic atmosphere that could have been there without the crowds and noise from the party."
    Dined on 12/4/2013
  • "Was a little disappointed with the noise level and service was pretty slow. Food was adequate bur when you have to wait so long in-between courses you are good with almost anything. People with us had been to this newer location before but in the summer. They said when you eat on their patio it is not so noisey."
    Dined on 11/22/2013
  • "Although I've had many great dining experiences here, especially the outdoor deck during the summer, last week there was a large table in the dining room of cocktailers who were quite loud. It made it difficult to hear each other at a table for four! When spending that much on dinner, the noise level made the excellent food less enjoyable."

  • "Five of us went to La Vecchia after the Reno Philharmonic concert on a Sunday evening. The food was really delicious, and the cocktails were great! The staff members were gracious and showed just the right amount of attentiveness. We were really impressed. Furthermore, the view is amazing - all of Reno was lit up below us. We highly recommend this place for food, drink, and ambiance."

  • "Too bad a La Vecchia has a nice view of the city but the noise level in the restaurant was over the top. The service was great no problem. The food was good but just average Italian."

  • "The roasted pork ravioli with chantrelles were the "Chef's Special" that night & were rich with succulent pork complimented perfectly by the flavorful chantrelles. I look forward to ordering this dish again. Others in our group had the risotto with smoked pork shank...excellent! Service is prompt, friendly & well orchestrated without being intrusive. The atmosphere is both lively & comfortable. Chef owner Alberto Gazzola greeted guests while they dined. It seemed a popular place for diverse age groups."

  • "I try to go to La Vecchia whenever I am in Reno. The view from Skyline, of the city and valley below is beautiful especially at sunset. I have had their filet with peppercorn sauce and their ravioli, both were cooked perfectly and filled with flavor. Their warm romaine salad is another must order on the menu and don't forget to leave room for dessert - flan, gelato, bread pudding and more. The service is excellent and the waiters go out of their way to make sure your dining experience a memorable one."

  • "Had a group in town at the convention center - and we decided we had had enough of thee hotel & casino food. Read a good review on UrbanSpoon, so decided to book it on Opentable. The 5 of us showed up for a great dinner, served by an exceoptionally nice and attentive Matt. Poached swordfish was excellent. We thought we wanted the patio with the view, but. Sat inside. Comfortaby instead (good thing as the wind picked up). Great italian menu with a fun cocktail list. Definitely recomment."
