With all the hype and recommendations from people around town and for La Toque to be a Michelin star restaurant, I was disappointed with our experience. The food was mediocre, started with not so great dishes, which thankfully got a little better with the last couple dishes we had. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess/manager/server, but waited quite some time until our server arrived. She was nice, but wasn't quite the standard you would expect from the rating this restaurant has received. The somm was cordial at the table, but robotic. We did the wine pairing, so he came over poured the wine, explained it, and left. The porter was probably who helped boost the rating from being not bad.

While the food was delicious and the service good, it is hard to agree that what it cost is worth what you get. While called a four course meal, I would hardly consider the courses as such. Might as well be called a four tapas/appetizer meal and for what it cost, I would expect the courses to be a little bit more substantial. All three courses (the 4th is desert), could easily have fit on a midsize plate together at one time.

I have eaten all over the world, having travelled for business and pleasure the past 40 years. This dining experience was if not the best complete meal overall, it was certainly one of the best. The food was delicious, innovative and the combination of quality and attentive service made the evening special. We decided to go with the Chef's meal, and we will never regret it. Wow, is really all we can say!

The perfect combination of atmosphere, food, wine service & friendliness, La Toque is the hands-down winner in Northern California. Ken Frank not only presents exquisite renditions of an almost uncountable number of dishes of every cuisine (loosely: gourmet California-fusion) in gorgeous surroundings with keenly knowledgeable wine service, but he does it without the pretension of that other Napa Valley fixture, letting you pick what you want to do, with the clear caring and friendliness that is part of his personality. You can probably get in on relatively short notice and you'll walk away perhaps having had the best meal of your life, without the pain in your stomach or wallet of that other place. Great wine list but not BYO unfriendly.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and got the multi-course meal with wine pairings, and we would absolutely recommend others to do the same. The food was astoundingly good and thoroughly creative. The wine pairings, though, turn it up to 11. The wine director comes and chats with you about each wine pairing, where it comes from, and his rationale in choosing it, which is already very cool and unusual. Even for a non-wine-snob, the excellence of the pairing with each course was obvious. Service was amazingly good; our waiter (Peter) clearly knew his stuff and was highly attentive and friendly. Truly a pleasure all the way around, and one of our top-10 dining experiences ever.

The restaurant atmosphere, and service was excellent as they received 1 Michelin Star. There is no much room for improvement for those two; however, we had 5 course menu, and the food was not impressive at all unfortunately. There is no WOW surprises at all, and we had just good meal for the price I don't usually expect to pay at this quality. Maybe my expectation might be too high, but I always get WOWs at Michelin Star restaurants I've visited.

From the moment our party walked in to the time we walked out,we all felt that it couldn't get any better, our waiter Mike took time to explain the menu to us and helped with our choices,it was our anniversary so a bottle of champagne was bought to the table,I mentioned that I did not like champagne and asked Mike to surprise me with a special martini which he certainly did, delicious! We chose the four course tasting menu,we all had something different and every bite was pure joy to the mouth, portions were perfect and desserts were "divine" our party of four would go back here whenever we are in the area, this was the perfect place to end our stay in Napa,Thankyou everyone who worked with us that evening(Sat 27th Sept) you were the best.

My husband and I made reservations at La Toque for a romantic dinner while "eloping" in Napa. The detailed menu we read ahead of time was mouth watering, and the reviews of the restaurant were good, so we decided to try it. However, while the ambience was nice and the service was great, neither of us was that impressed with the food - the courses were too bland for our liking. We ate at several high end restaurants during our one week Napa/San Francisco stay, and concluded that La Toque was our least favorite - the prices are too high for the food to be JUST OK. A co-worker recommended French Laundry, but we had already made our reservations with LaToque and didn't want to cancel. We think we'll try there for our 1 year anniversary.

From the moment we entered La Toque until we strolled out 2 hours later, we were in dining heaven! The Vegetable Tasting menu was exquisite as one course followed the other each paired with the perfect glass of wine. Each was better than the previous. The service was impeccable. Every question we asked was answered and there was always someone there to fulfill our need whether voiced or foreseen. All of this, despite the fact that the Westin in which La Toque's is located is still under repair from the recent earthquake. We will return!

We celebrated our Anniversary here after a full day of wine tasting in Napa. We were pleasantly greeted and congratulations were offered when we were seated. Unfortunately they gave the champagne that was poured for "the couple celebrating their anniverasry" to a couple that said they weren't. A mistake that was never corrected. But we came for the ambiance and the food and weren't disappointed. Our server tended to our every need and made excellent recommendations when asked. Every course topped the previous and dessert was the perfect end to the evening. We were surprised with a signed copy of the tasting menu from Chef to commemorate our evening. A very nice touch.

I tried to understand why we were the only table in the middle of Harvest and at a very popular hotel the Westin Versa Napa, but then I thought maybe it was just an off night....yes the food was amazing and the wine pairing were spot on from the Somm...service was great, food was great, I've been to many "chefs tastings" and would I go back to this one? probably not although it was good...but have been to better. My opinion is that if they were in a free standing building instead of this huge hotel...it would give off and have a different response....

Fine but a bit disappointing. Server didn't know the difference between the two very different looking cuts of blue fin tuna (and wasn't interested in finding out). We had the chef's tasting menu with wine, and I had stated that when I reserved, but they seemed to want us to finish quickly so it felt rushed. Food was solid but not memorable. Sommelier was delightful though, and the wine pairings were wonderful.

We loved the food and the service. I would say my only complaint was that we showed up a bit early to our reservation. We knew we were early but were hoping to have a drink at the bar. We went to check in with the host and to ask if there was a bar area, he immediately made some rude comments about showing up early on a holiday weekend, expectations, blah, blah without letting us speak. We almost left but decided as our reservation was quite late we wouldn't find another. We found our way to the bar (he did not show us) and from then on the evening was fantastic. The bartenders and later our servers were top notch, and the food was amazing.
