Six of us enjoyed dinner at La Toque. The food was great as always: scallops and rib eye were excellent. The service from our head waiter was unfriendly, cold and not very helpful. The bus staff were engaging, friendly, courteous and very efficient. Our seating was inside on the patio area where it was a little noisy and we felt out in the middle of the room. The wine list was comprehensive. we enjoyed the four course dinner and wine pairing. The wines were well matched to the food.

The food was amazing! Ambience and service all great. What I really loved about the place was that I got to choose 3 or more dishes to taste rather than eating an appetizer and a main dish as in most other restaurants. Small prions were just the right size and although I chose the 3 dishes+1 dessert , I was pretty full by the time my third dish came.

The restaurant is excellent; chef is on top of his game. We did the 3 choices with wine parings. Everything was great although the portions are as expected very small - really just a taste. So with that said you really need to go for the 4 parings if you are hungry. Service was balanced and generally well paced. A bit of a lag between #2 and #3 but not a major glitch. Wine was interesting and appropriate spanning the globe - not just the Napa area. I would return and go for the four. Pricing seems a bit high but you do get what you pay for - expect a $500 tab for two persons.

We visit Napa every other year. I spent twenty years as a corporate restaurant Vice President. We were excited to visit La Toque. My step daughter just bought new high heels. She was having difficulty navigating on them as we entered. After being seated the Mgr came to the table and stated that she would not be served anymore alcohol. We have just arrived in Napa and had not visited any wineries yet. Totally unacceptable approach. Embarrassing and uncomfortable. The way it should have been handled was to summon me to the front and discuss with me. This set the tone for the meal and the rest of the evening was uncomfortable. I understand the concern of all eateries to protect their liability issues but this was mishandled.

Excellent food with fantastic service. The tasting menu is paced perfectly, the flavors traverse the palette from bright and fresh to rich and earthy while maintaining a lightness appropriate for the season. Service is attentive and friendly; the servers read our moods and respond accordingly. Last time I dined here my fiancee did not particularly care for one particular dish. The waiter noticed she was moving through it slowly, and immediately brought her a new dish without question.

My wife and I had dine there within the last eight months after a day of Wine tasting and had a fantastic meal and experience. So I thought it would be great to take my wife there for our 24th wedding anniversary. They made no attempt to make the evening special. We ordered the vegetarian chef menu and opted to go for the pairing thinking this would be a greatexperience. The whole experience was subpar at best. The food left my wife and I feeling nauseated! with an upset stomach for two days after the meal at a cost of $407 including gratuity. I certainly don't mind spending that kind of money on a dinner but it better be fantastic.

Food and wines were very good. We were five people that had the 3-course+dessert menu and liked everything. After the second course however we waited for 30-40 minutes. Then suddenly we were served the second course again! We sent it back and asked for the third course. Waiter offered an appology for "the mix-up" as she called it. After another 15 minutes we were then served our third course. A much to long waiting time between courses at a top restaurant and apart from an extra ounce of the wine-pairing redwine we were offered no explanation, no compensation, or no real appology. We wondered why they didn't just offer coffee or a drink for the mistake. A small compensation always help. Total experience didn't live up to expectations.

Overall the experience was ok. The wine flight was as to be expected. Food was good but felt like they were after my wallet. Added truffles to an otherwise exquisite dish.....they charged me 28 extra dollars. Final bill they auto tipped 18 percent. Tell the truth i would have tipped them more. When in a party of two, i feel the tip should be at the discretion of the consumer. My wife feels differently, she enjoyed the experience. Guys bring your cash, it can get pricey.

Meal was lovely - wine pairings were perfect with our courses. Sommelier was quite happy to share his thoughts and knowledge with us. Ambience was a little more energetic than I expected - not a bad thing. Still able to hold a conversation, just thought it might be more subdued. Overall a great dining experience

Everything was great until one of the courses was not served. I went with a friend, they served me and I politely waited a moment until her fish was served. It didn't come. One of the wait staff saw I wasn't eating and asked if there was a problem, I said I was waiting for my friend's dish. To which he replied she didn't have a course at this time. We reminded him we both ordered the four course meal, told him which dish we were missing, and he didn't offer to keep my dish warm while I waited... Her dish came and they swept it under the rug like nothing happened. AND They still tacked on the automatic 18% grattuity? I expect service to be perfect when I'm paying $100 a person. They dropped the ball and left a sour taste in my mouth.

My wife and I dined at La Toque during our recent visit to Napa Valley. Needless to say, it was a magnificent dining experience. We both chose to partake in the three course food and wine pairing which provided us the opportunity to experience different foods paired with appropriately matched wines. It was outstanding! The food was brilliantly executed along with a glass of wine which further enhanced the experience. My only "criticism" is the small wine pours, especially with my entrée (lamb). Another ounce (or two) would have greatly enhanced the meal. While pricey, La Toque truly provides its diners a magical food and wine experience.

Absolutely fantastic! The service was very good. Our party each chose the 3 savory dishes plus dessert. We each enjoyed our dishes immensely! The beef carpaccio and the lobster first course were 2 fantastic, delicate choices. The scallops were tender and scrumptious. 2 of us enjoyed the beef, one enjoyed the lamb and one enjoyed the fish, with each sharing their delicious choice. The sauces with each dish were excellent as were the wine pairings for each course. Our dinner was beyond phenomenal and a memorable way to end our trip to Napa.

I dined here last year and enjoyed the experience in every way. While competition in Napa is fierce, it seems that the La Toque kitchen has fallen behind. They've nailed pretty presentation, but incongruous flavors plagued most of our courses on the tasting menu. It was a shame. The nice room, staff, setting and customers deserve better meals.

We were in Napa and it was only a week after our Anniversary, so we chose to celebrate with an expensive meal. I had antelope and Mary had steak as a main course. Every course was beautiful, interesting, tasty, and just right in portion. Things were a little quiet on a Monday night. Parking had a free valet option as lot is far from entrance in 98 degree heat.

The food was good but the hotel location left something to be desired. The service was wonderful. We were celebrating our anniversary and were greeted with complimentary sparkling wine and provided with a signed menu upon departure. The wine menu is very extensive, so you are provided with an iPad at the table. This is a huge no no to me. I would rather them have a smaller wine selection chosen with care by their sommelier than electronics at the table. My dessert (a chocolate cake) was not at all inventive and the portion was enormous. My husband had a peanut butter cake that was fun and delicious. Somehow they also mistakenly added $50 to our bill after we had provided our credit card for payment.

Enjoyment, consistency and just plain fabulous. This restaurant never fails to impress. The dishes are approachable yet exquisite. The flavored are well balanced and layered perfectly. I loved my lobster and ribeye. The desserts are always a pleasure. What wraps this all up in a pretty bow is Richard, the Sommelier. His knowledge of wine is refreshing. Not only do we enjoy learning about each wine paired deliciously with each course, we enjoy Richard as a person as well. La Toque is like coming home for us. It is always our first dinner in Napa Valley.

You can trust hearing Ken Frank's name and expect a superb dining experience. He never disappoints. You choose the number of courses you want to try and as an added plus, dessert is included. You can do a full-course wine pairing or share pours with your dining partner. If your entree selections differ, the sommelier will happily find half pours to make a perfect food-wine match for each individual. Fortunately, we do not live near the restaurant and limit our visits to two a year. So good.

Have eaten here multiple times and the food and service are always first rate. My only issue with this dinner was once the last course was finished the service seemed to stop. No offering of dessert wine options and a long gap before the desserts finally came out. We have always had a great experience with the sommelier, probably just an oversight.

We had been to the restaurant a month earlier and the dinner was amazing. We took my family for the first time and everyone thought it was good but not amazing. I had ordered some of the same items and the flavor was not spot on as before. The ravioli's were not as rich and the were a bit undercooked. The crab dish was two small pieces of a mouthful of meat attached to the legs. There was no way to get the meat off unless you picked it up with your hands and even then it was nearly impossible to get the meat off. As the dinner was over $600.00, I expected a little better than we received.

Dining at Ken Frank's restaurant was a fabulous evening with friends. There are three menu options and over 2000 wines. You can choose the chef's table with a prix fixe menu of his favorite dishes. Or, you can make your own meal from a list of savory items. Our choice was three items and dessert for $74. They prepare a custom wine pairing for your choices. This was $48 for this option and was totally worth it. The wines were unusual and delicious. I chose a Morroccan Duck, a Crimini mushroom pot pie, and lamb. For dessert, apricots on a white chocolate mousse and chocolate gateau that looked like a slice of a castle. The lighting is subdued. I enjoyed a lavish bouquet of white orchids on a table at the entrance. C'etait gastronomique!

We had the 3 course dinner with free desert. The room is cozy and the ambiance enjoyable. Beautiful bar at entry. We enjoyed a bottle of Staglin Chardonnay which was priced very reasonably. However, I ordered a glass of cabernet with my 3d course (ribeye steak) and it never appeared nor did the waiter. I reminded him at the end , and suggested he give me a free glass of port with the cheese dish. He agreed, but did not volunteer to make up for the omission. The port was Heitz, not great, and corked. It was replaced but still notso good. The cheese course was bland and dull. Overall a good meal but not worth the $300 for the 2 of us. There are many very good restaurants in Napa and Yountville that can be enjoyed for half the price.

Fantastic food and my wife and I loved how the menu worked. The service was very good. Friendly and inviting. Totally recommended. The wine person was a bit comical though. We did a wine pairing and the wine person showed up and told us about our wine. After she left my wife and I looked at each other and observed we had literally no idea what she'd said. Perhaps it's because we like wine but we don't live wine. When she came back to deliver the next pairing we tried to pay very close attention. Again, no idea what she said. My wife wondered if we weren't in an SNL skit. It didn't really detract from the spectacular food or anything but she sure didn't help us enjoy the wine very much. The next time we just laughed when she left.

my second visit. This time the wait staff was off. Not as professional as I would expect at this level of restaurant. When my dinner companion returned her squab as it was very underdone, the waiter said that is how we prepare it here but I can have it cooked longer. His attitude was that she was being difficult. The menu is complicated and the laborious explanation was like a fast lecture. It was work to understand the menu and terrible presentation from the waiter. Luckily they switched him out quickly. However the food was delicious and fun to eat with delicious wine pairings.
