Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant only seats on the non air conditioned patio (it was quite hot out and fans were not enough to make it comfortable to be outside), which was not mentioned on the website, the menu was very limited (not same as advertised on website), they were not offering gluten free options advertised on website menu as the waiter informed us "the kitchen is getting lazy" and they ran out of majority of specials by 8:15 so obviously don't buy enough food."

  • "One of the first restaurants i visited when returning to Buffalo for summer. Food is great, service is excellent, great ambiance, one of the best patio spots for summer time, and the family that owns the place are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Highly recommended! "

  • "The service was great! I'm vegan and was very pleased that the chef was able to accommodate. The food and wine was amazing and the atmosphere was so nice. The experience was excellent. "

  • "This was my first visit to La Tee Da Cafe. I've been wanting to try it for some time and was not disappointed! I have celiac disease and must eat gluten free. They offered a variety of dishes that were suitable for me. The food was delicious and the service friendly. "

  • "The food was fabulous - Service was attentive, without being overbearing. Will definitely go back, especially to sit outside on their patio."

  • "This is my 5th time dining at this restaurant and always love having a girls wine night at this gem right in the heart of Allentown. The spinach appetizer was phenomenal as always but the entrees need some work. The food lacks flavor and I really want to love it but it falls short :( Most of the entrees are very healthy which is good, and although descriptions sound lovely, the food is bland and not memorable. My tuna was pretty dry and my friend's salad lacked flavor as well. This spot is adorable and I hope the chef can work on making the food as awesome as the decor."

  • "Even though the winter accommodations are small compared to the summer patio, it was great for the six of us. The specials were amazing especially the Cod dinner. Portions were big enough for my husband and myself to bring home and eat for dinner the next day. And the bottle of wine for $15 was a bonus. They even wrapped up the leftover wine and sealed so we wouldn't transport an open container. Waitress very pleasant, and efficient."

  • "I found La Tee Da on Urban Spoon and was excited that I was able to make a reservation on line for that evening for a larger group of people. I was very excited that they could accommodate us. I was impressed with both the food and the service their risotto was very flavorful and the eggplant appetizer was light but flavorful. Everyone else I was with really enjoyed their meal as well. My only two complaints were the fact that they didn't serve liquor and it was a bit dark and smaller than I expected, it felt a bit crowded in the small space. Overall our experience was great. I would recommend it to friends and I plan to return."

  • "Very good food with reasonable wine cost. Bench seating on one side which is a bit uncomfortable and cramped. For 4 people or less, consider choosing a table with chairs on the opposite side."

  • "There was a lot of pasta on the menu. I was hoping for a meat & vegetable entrée,but there was not much available. I ordered a sausage dish which was quite good. My husband ordered beef burgundy, but the beef was tough and very dry. The wine was excellent and the $15/bottle price a good deal. The service was excellent."

  • "We have dined here twice now. Once in summer when we were able to sit on the outdoor patio, and most recently inside. Both experiences were fabulous. Excellent food. Great service. Prices are excellent for the quality of food you get. And $15 bottles of wine. Highly recommend!!"

  • "we had a gift certificate so we went to La Tee Da on a Saturday evening. big mistake. it was extremely claustrophobic, exceedingly loud, generally uncomfortable. the food was mediocre at best. my husband and daughter each had the filet special, which was anything but special......no flavor whatsoever, and a pretty tiny portion for the price. The crab and artichoke appetizer tasted more like tuna..very odd. having to wait well over an hour between apps and entrees was just ridiculous. Service was disinterested. Beverage refills were not even offered. I think this restaurant needs to refocus on its product rather than its so-called "scene." There are too many excellent restaurants in buffalo to waste time and money on sub par dining."

  • "I have been enjoying going to La Tee Da for years now. I have always loved everything about the place. From the ambience, to the food to the service; they are consistently fabulous. I have celebrated anniversaries, special times with friends & romantic dinners here with my husband. They are a family run restaurant and it makes all the difference. You always feel welcome & your business is appreciated. It really is one of my most favorite places to visit. I highly recommend a visit. You won't be disappointed!"

  • "It's a small restaurant with a couple 4-6 seat tables and a series of two seat tables side by side by side by side [which my girlfriend and I were seated at]. The tables are too close together for my liking and because you're practically seated directly beside the person at the table next to you, it made me uncomfortable. The food was fine. I didn't dislike anything but it really wasn't anything special either. My girlfriend likes this restaurant and goes there several times a year with her friends but as I said, it's not for me."

  • "LaTeDa is an excellent restaurant from all perspectives in the heart of Allentown. A short walk gets you to the Philharmonic and Elmwood Village is right around the corner. The setting has a NYC feel inside, long and somewhat narrow, warm and welcoming. Food, drink , service and ambience are all great."

  • "Great food! Great service!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone as well as coming back myself. Perk: is it's connected to a great independent bookstore that you can browse some fantastic titles and rare gems, before or after your dining experience!"

  • "Out of both wines that were ordered. Waitress inexperienced. She Offered a Mexican replacement...Tempernillo...which is Spanish.Split dish fee is ridiculous. When we have so many choices of places to eat and choose you, be thrilled. Don't charge for split plate because you just lost two customers."

  • "Nothing beats the ambiance on the back covered patio at La Tee Da on a beautiful evening. We had a drink at the bar and the bartender was excellent. Our table was great (but you could feel it was a cheap folding aluminum table underneath). I tried the eggplant wings and thought they were very creative. The pear salad was very good, as was the house special appetizer meatball. The service staff was excellent (though the beautiful girls covered with tatoos always kills me...) I had dinner here several weeks ago with my man and it was very romantic. Though beautiful Mary is gone....her daughter and granddaughter should be very proud. La Tee Da is truly a neighborhood gem."

  • "went to la La Tee Da on a friday evening with some friends for the first time. it was a beautiful end-of-summer evening and everyone dined on the covered patio....what a gem for the city. everything was terrific the moment you entered, along with the food and service. the staff takes extra care to ensure a lovely and wonderful dining experience. by the time we left, the patio was full of diners, along with some enjoying a meal at the bar on the patio. btw, great selection of wine and beer....check out their website. also, take advantage of making your reservation on-line with "open table." you receive a confirmation e-mail, and i also received a phone call prior to arriving confirming our reservation. La Tee Da is a keeper!"

  • "La Tee Da is a classy restaurant in the trendy Allentown district in Buffalo. For outdoor dining, wonderful ambience with great decor. Even on a chilly evening, side canvas is brought down along with heaters above to keep you warm. In my opinion, this adds to the ambience for outdoor dining. Meals were superb, service was outstanding and desserts were delicious. One of our favorite restaurants to go to downtown."

  • "I haven't been to La Tee Da since the owner Mary died. She was so wonderful, I just didn't think it could ever be the same. But... happily the experience and food I had there was every bit as good. We sat outside on the quaint and cozy patio on a perfect evening. Mary's grand daughter waited on us and she was delightful. Her mother, the chef, put out some excellent dishes including the special pot roast dinner my friend loved...my great pear salad and the delicious scallop entree. We had wonderful French press coffee along with dessert. We couldn't believe we were there for 3 hours, it went by so fast. What a great experience! I would highly recommend La Tee Da. It's a neighborhood gem and nice for a romantic evening."

  • "I have been to La Tee Da several times prior. I used to call it my favorite restaurant, however I can't do that anymore. They revamped their menu, and being a person who is gluten free, I was disappointed with the lack of g.f. options. No longerr can I order the pasta dishe or their famous spinach balls. I was both surprised and disappointed. :( It was one of the few restaurants where I knew I could go and have an assortment of g.f. options. This is my own personal issue I know. As for the other guests in my party they all had only good things to say about their meals. Our party of seven was also given a brand new server, and altho we were very patient with her it was very tedious and lengthy night."

  • "We went this past Saturday night for dinner. At 7:00 p.m., they were out of all fish - salmon, cod, etc... How are you out of fish at 7:00 p.m. on a Staurday???"

  • "With the sad passing of the matriarch and visionary of this restaurant I'm afraid like all things in life, it's just not the same. My meal was great, I had the tuna salad. What got me was the changes to the outdoor space. The entrance off the parking lot used to be welcoming, and now it is not... it's like you're cutting through where the dishes are washed. The bar has taken over and is now the main focus of what was a cool patio dinning room. The bigger bar removed space for the live music, which I missed on my visit. The biggest turn off was the "smoking garden" at the back end of the patio. People sitting at the bar, there to drink not eat, walking through the eating area to go have a smoke was a major downer for me."

  • "I think la tee da is a nice restaurant but really pushing on the pricing - because it's a cute and intimate place but the menu prices do not coincide with the location and offerings. I think if you were to reconsider and offer moderately pricing meals than this place would be the "go to" for everything. But after two drinks one one meal, over $50 is unreasonable for what I walked away with."
