There were 5 of us there for Mother's Day (although it was not very crowded), ages ranging from 16 to 88, and we all walked away satisfied. Overall, the food was good; some appetizers/meals were exceptional (e.g., eggplant and veal), but some were just okay (e.g., lobster bisque, pasta with salmon special). We only chose this restaurant because of the groupon. What a find! The food was exceptional, especially the calamari appetizer. The staff was excellent from the host to our server. I had the pesto sauce and my daughter had the bolognese sauce and both were excellent. My husband had the homemade lasagna...wonderful. My son had the chicken parm also wonderful. We shared a bottle of excellent white wine. The homemade desserts finished off an excellent evening. For me the only let down was the chocolate chip cheesecake. The waitress told us it was unique and it was- so I was warned. My husband and sons loved their desserts.We ate at Aldo's the next night and I have to say I prefered La Tavola. On our last visit, the kitchen sold out of one of the specials (Rockfish)as we were ordering--so the chef whipped up something similar with a red snapper that was absolutely wonderful! The sauces are always interesting twists on the traditional. You can find healthy food and decadent food--and it's all delectable. We always start with a cocktail. I enjoy the Espresso Martini and my wife enjoys the Blood Orange Margarita. She loves the home made Lasagna and I love the Linguini con Taleggio e Tartufo. The crispy Speck with the creamy sauce and reduced balsamic glaze is a perfect. The Mozzarella Fresca with freshly cracked pepper is perfect for two to share. It was good that we had the reservation, as the dining room had filled up. We were seated in the back and it didn't seem crowded. The food was delicious. There were a bunch of good options for the vegetarians in the group. The wine list was good; there were much fewer wines available by the glass than by the bottle. The service was attentive. The cuttlefish appetizer was grilled and had a little too strong of a smoked flavor. Otherwise it was tasty. The recommended wine selection went well with the meal.
