Diner Reviews
  • "The Clarendon location was a great spot for a bridal shower/lunch for a co-worker. We had reservations for 7, and at lunch that appeared to not be a problem. I've only gone to La Tasca in Old Town in the evenings and for Happy Hour, and it ranges from lively and energetic to down-right loud, which is appropriate. I was pleasantly surprised that for a quiet lunch on a beautiful Friday, it was also perfect. The food was delicious, including the desserts. We could not partake of their Sangrias, sadly, but I know they're phenomenal. The staff was attentive and even snapped some pictures for us. We were able to eat, chat, and enjoy while still getting back to work on time. We had a great experience. Thanks, La Tasca!!"

  • "Had dinner on a Saturday night with extended family. We ordered about 20 plates. They came out of the kitchen in the order that we ordered them; the waiter made four trips separated by about 4-5 minutes each. Most were pretty good but two were not nearly warm enough. The only one that I did not care to finish was the small plate of Paella which was surprising. It was just bland. Noise level was very high when the restaurant filled up, making conversation difficult. Overall a pleasant experience. I would go back but only early in the evening before it gets crowded."

  • "We went for my parents anniversary and I do not know if our waiter was new or what but she seem not to be able to handle a party new to the restaurant. My parents are older of course they are going to ask questions and she didn't know how to answer. I've been there before and had great service. We were there for almost three hours and she only checked on so maybe three time. Another server took the drink order. I brought a cake and it took me to ask twice for plates and forks."

  • "We ordered from the brunch menu and plenty to eat. The tapas and tortilla were delicious."

  • "My husband, sons (11 and 13) and I enjoyed more than our share of tapas and paella. We ordered two different dishes each. All delish ! The Cadillac sangria was a nice light touch to all the flavors on the table. Noise volume was little loud for mid-level table conversation. Good place for adventurous foodies. Wait staff was well attentive. Thank you to ours!"

  • "Went with my husband to celebrate his birthday. Neither of us had tapas before so we chose the La Tasca Tasting Menu. Food was excellent as was the sangria. Three tapas courses included meat, vegetable-starch, and seafood. We had early dinner 5:15pm and service was good. Restaurant started to get very busy by time we left. Definitely would go again but would stick with an early time."

  • "I've been to La Tasca several times. It's a reliable, reasonably priced tapas restaurant with delicious sangrias. This visit, I dined with a quirky friend who made a variety of peculiar requests, all of which the wait staff handled with patience."

  • "The waitress hardly paid any attention to us. When one of my dining companions asked to see a regular menu- not the one that had whatever special they're running- the waitress seemed perplexed as to why we would want such a thing. Just let us order what we want and stop pushing the special menu. The food is great though and it's the only reason to come back."

  • "We enjoyed this restaurant. Service was good; food was well cooked and decently presently, the waitress did not rush us. Prices were reasonable. Not a five-star place but that's not what we expected."

  • "The food was excellent! However, it was the Saturday before Saint Patrick's day so the restaurant was crowded with partiers so it was noisy. Despite the crowds, the wait staff brought our food in good time and they were attentive to our needs."

  • "Did not meet expectations- Friday flamenco "show" is nothing than two ladies attempting to dance flamenco-nothing authentic, Bread was cold, paella undercook, chorizo looked and tasted like hot dog. Made a group reservation for 12 a month in advance and table was not ready, missing plates and silverware- DO NOT plan group meetings here- its costly and there is no place for private parties. I went to see if my company would coordinate an event there (40 people) but dont see good customer service and the food is not 100% authentic spanish-Waiter was nice-"

  • "Had a reservation for 6 on Sunday. First table was terrible, had to request another table. They only gave us two menus for six people, we actually had to ask for menus! Then we got a whole spiel about how we should do one of their party platters because it's easier for the restaurant to serve us with a fixed-price preselected menu and not as many plates to bring out. Um, I'm sorry, I came to your restaurant to eat a meal that I want to eat, not to make your life easier. Our water glasses didn't get touched once unless we asked, and we waited 45 minutes between ordering and receiving our food for every round. We were still hungry and would have gotten a third round but at that point we were fed up with having to wait forever for each plate."

  • "My wife and I took our eldest son for his birthday to the Tasca on Wilson Blvd. in Arlington. We orderd and waited but nothing came out. Then the tapas came all at once. But they were cold. I mentioned the cold dishes to our server. He replied that the kitchen is on the third floor so it's a hike--I think the carriers also waited to make just one trip. I noted that when we ate at the Tapas near the Verizon center, which was a good experience the waiter brought bread and olive oil. He said that if we want some, he'll bring it. Overall, it was not a good experience. I would rank the Tasca in Arlington as a one star and a negative in terms of our son's birthday."

  • "The food was very good, and the service was good too right up until they asked us to leave because they needed the table. I guess that's just Clarendon on a Saturday night. This was our second time at La Tasca, and it appears to always be pretty loud--not so much that it's unpleasant, but don't go there for a quiet and intimate dinner. The tapas is quite good, and sharing it around the table makes for a fun evening."

  • "Food was good, service attentive, table was about as poor a selection as one could get in the place and there were lots of much better open tables."

  • "I always enjoying dining at La Tasca - the sangria is always flavorful, and the rich variety of meat, seafood and vegetarian tapas make it suitable for anyone's particular dietary needs."

  • "Noisy, fun environment, perfect for groups. also great because people can pick and choose what they want and share, which is fun. food isnt the best in the world, but its pretty good. nothing was bad. and not outrageously priced like most tapas places. best part was i got a table for 10 reservation on a sat night like two days before."

  • "We went for DC Restaurant week, and we got 3 tapas each and a glass of sangria. It was a decent deal and the tapas were good. Nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. It was definitely a fun group experience, and we really enjoyed our experience there."

  • "It was a post snowy night so not to busy. The table was away from door but still very chilly. Decided to go for Restaurant week- 3 tapas that were delicious. The steak was very tender and a good sized portion of shrimp. Loved the white wine with peaches sangria, and dessert all for $35.00 - seemed like a good intro to tapas for a friend of mine."

  • "We went there for our one year anniversary and were not disappointed. The food is always delicious and the portions are just right for tapas. Their sangria is so good, all of them! The servers are attentive and timely. It's always a pleasure to dine at La Tasca and I recommend it to all my friends."

  • "I suggested La Tasca to a group of friends and we were thrilled when we realized they were running a restaurant week special! We were each able to order three tapas, a dessert, and a glass of wine or sangria for $35 each! Everything was delicious and it was the perfect number of plates."

  • "Not sure if this was a restaurant or OpenTable issue, but the reservation time we made on OpenTable was not honored at La Tasca. They called and let us know they had to delay our reservation by a half hour. Not a huge problem, but did think it was an issue worth bringing up. But the dining experience, as always at La Tasca, was wonderful. They have a great Restaurant Week menu."

  • "I needed a last minute place to meet my mom for dinner and picked La Tasca. I always enjoy their food and delicious sangria. We really enjoyed their Restaurant Week menu and the calypso dancers were a very special treat! Overall, I always enjoy my experiences at La Tasca."

  • "They had a great Mother's Day special going on and I brought my mom. She loved the atmosphere and the food. I've always loved the sangria here. I will definitely bring my mom here again some time."

  • "We got the $33 per person for 2 rounds each of a selection of tapas. It was delicious, no doubt and just the right amount of food, but in the end it ended up being about 2 mid sized plates of tapas per person. This deal could be cheaper other wise it works out to nearly $17 a plate. That combined with the steep cost of sangria means our bill was about $67 per person, I think this included the tip. We had dined at Founding Farmers 2 nights prior and and had a feast of top quality product, for the same price including drinks. So a nice venue. A decent meal. But there is better value to be had."

  • "This was our first time eating at La Tasca. We were very pleased with our experience. The tapas portions were generous, the presentation and flavor of the food was wonderful and the variety of offerings on the menu makes us want to eat there again. The service was cheerful and attentive without being overbearing. We definitely recommend it!"

  • "The food and service quality at La Tasca seem to have gone down hill. I went for dinner with a friend on a Sunday around 6pm. The restaurant was pretty empty and it took over 45 minutes to receive our first order of tapas. The service was very slow as well, we had to track down our waiter several times to put in additional orders. Also, the sangria (I ordered the rosada) was very week and overly sweet. There are much better tapas places in the area, I won't be returning to La Tasca."

  • "We went for NYE because the prix fixe menu for evening looked good. I'm sure it was mainly because of the holiday but service was slow to get going. We had an 8:30 reservation, showed up early and were almost forgotten about at the bar. When we finally inquired about our table, we were seated. We then waited 15 minutes before we were greeted by anyone. My boyfriend ordered one of all the tapas on the menu. We were then bombarded by food. Some of it was cold. I now felt rushed. I had to ask for the bottle of wine which was included in their special. The waiter did try to make it up to us by buying a round of tequila shots. The music was good. And in all, it ended up being a good night. I'd really like to try it again on a non-holiday."

  • "This was my second time coming to this restaurant. My first visit was great; however this time it was not good. The food we ordered "the paella" was so overcooked that the flavor was gone. I menu for a group is very confusing to understand. It does not help when the waitress makes it more confusing. I was very disappointed with this visit. I do not think I will be coming back."

  • "Service was very good; the waiter was knowledgeable about both food and wine. The room looks nice, and was quiet enough to make conversation easy. The wine list is not long, but there are quite a few nice choices. The tables for 4 are a small, making it hard to get two tapas per person on the table. We had mixed results with the food during this first-time visit. Most of the meat tapas were good to excellent, with the exception of one order of lamb, which was very dry. Several of the seafood dishes were disappointing. The shrimp dishes in particular used small, tasteless shrimp. The serving sizes were generous for tapas. I would recommend the restaurant to a friend, but I'd suggest ordering from the meat or veggie sections of the menu."
