A word from La Tagliatella Restaurant - Clarendon
Welcome to La Tagliatella Clarendon. We are a European-based Italian restaurant specializing in the rustic culinary traditions of Northern Italy. We import many of our key ingredients: tomatoes from Puglia; parmesan cheese from Emilia Romagna; gorgonzola cheese from Lombardia; buffalo's mozzarella from Campania; mushrooms from Trentino's region and focacia from Genova...We offer insalate, antipasti, our very own proprietary pastas and sauces; Napoletano-style pizze and several veal or filet mignon entrees. And don't pass on our desserts - they are truly unique and delicious. We have designed our restaurant with a beautiful full service bar for diners to enjoy Happy Hour, bar dining and socializing while enjoying one of our Specialty Cocktails, great wine or draft beer.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Waitress was wonderful, extremely attentive and helpful. Seemed to actually enjoy her job and care about us, rare find sometimes! Good deals on happy hour specials."

  • "I went there for my birthday dinner before heading out to the bars in Clarendon. The server was super nice and helpful! The food was delicious. Everyone got a different dish and all were fabulous! Reservations were easy to make through Open Table and we were seated right away. Only issue is when I tried calling the restaurant, it just rang...not sure if something was up with their phone. But everything else was great! Will definitely be back!"

  • "La Tagliatella has a pleasant atmosphere but the food and service are disappointing. Now we know why the restaurant was almost empty early on a Sunday afernoon."

  • "The whole experience was terrific. The service perfect. The food amazing (although the portions are quite large!) I would go there again in a second."

  • "My family and I attended this restaurant with some members of our extended family that were visiting for the weekend. The restaurant was very inviting and we really enjoyed the tasty meals and wonderful choice of dishes on the menu (especially because several dishes suited my Mom who is a strict vegetarian)."

  • "Food was only ok - VERY salty. Ordered filet 'medium rare' - came out super-rare. Send it back, came back still what I would consider rare... Manager came by 20 min later, with meat only somewhat eaten, and claimed medium rare is purple inside. Idk about that - that's not what I consider medium rare - we expected a nice reddish pink in the center, not still essentially raw...especially after we sent it back once... Manager offered to remake it, but we said no, not necessary. He did take about $10 off the bill, which we didn't ask for but was appreciated. Had driven by the restaurant many times and wanted to try for a few months now... unfortunately, probably won't go back."

  • "I took my wife to La Tagliatella for Valentines Day and she raved about the bread sticks. That was the main reason for her requesting this restaurant for a belated Mothers Day dinner. We were very disappointed to find that the brochette bread sticks were no longer on the menu. That said, my wife's chicken piccata was excellent. My lasagna was ordinary. "

  • "Very good food. Abundant portions. Carbonara sauce was excellent. Good wine list and very friendly staff... Going back soon!"

  • "We like the menu and the many choices you have to mix and match pasta with sauces. The food is good. We do not like the noise. It is almost impossible to talk to someone across from you at the table. The ratings call it energetic and call it obnoxious. Why restaurants think their patrons don't want to hear what anyone is saying to them and having your ears blown out is fun I will never figure out. Unfortunately for us the noise level will keep us from going back very often."

  • "I had won a gift certificate here so we went on a Friday night. I made a reservation but likely didn't even need one at 7:30 pm - wasn't too busy. The food was ok, but not anything to rave about or even go back for. Unless you like cream sauces, there isn't much that goes together well with the pasta dishes. The service was relatively attentive but discombobulated; brought the wrong wine, flat soda, etc. Little things but enough that my mom, who was in from out of town, was a little put off by the whole experience. Not the best start to our Mother's Day Weekend."

  • "Everything was very good and at a good price point; appetizers, dinner and wine. I thought the restaurant was a full service authentic Italian. It was pizza and pasta with limited entrees; although very good."

  • "This is the second time my boyfriend and I have visited. The first time was pretty good. We had two pizzas and a ports bello, tomato, mozzarella appetizer. Decent food! Second visit, nothing special. When we dine, we do like to experience great food, new flavors, something unique about the place where we are, but we came to the conclusion mid-meal that this place just doesn't offer anything special for us. "

  • "Compared to other places in the area, La Tagliatella is very affordable, though the food was excellent. Definitely worth checking out for a date or a group get-together. Scenery struck me as upscale-casual."

  • "Food was pretty good, but service was slow, We weren't able to get anything prepared how we wanted it, only how it was showing up on the menu. They gave us a hard time about getting a side of pasta with a meal saying that they can't do side portions of pasta. Yet a DIFFERENT meal came with a side portion of pasta. Guess they couldn't take it off one meal and put it on another...??? What kind of Italian restaurant refuses to give pasta as a side??"

  • "Went here last week for my birthday with friends and it was a great choice! It's hard to get reservations for more than 8 on a weekend in Clarendon but they were very accommodating. My friends and I had all never been there and our waitress was excited to explain the menu and make recommendations for all of us. The build your own was neat and all of us loved our dishes. In the end I would say I'll definitely be going back."

  • "We were seated promptly and our server was great. She explained all the different sauces and pastas we had questions on. Food was delicious, nothing like freshly made pasta! We chose the restaurant for the location and selection."

  • "Found the restaurant on Open Table as we were visiting from out of town and wanted something close to our hotel......what a great find!!!! Our waitress was fabulous at directing us to a perfect entrée selection and a nice bottle of wine!! Highly recommend!!"

  • "Four of us had a great lunch today. We ordered a pizza and 3 different pastas. Service was prompt and food was delivered quickly. Everyone commented about how good the food was and how nice the restaurant looked. I'm very surprised there were not many more people there. They do not know what they are missing."

  • "I have been to quite a few Italian restaurants in the DC Metro area this place can go head to head with some of the more expensive ones and shine over them."

  • "I dinned at La Tagliatella without knowing nor reading anything about them. It was a great surprise, the food was good, the choices good, the service top notch and the ambiance was great. The noise level was so nice and quiet, not because it was empty but because the place is well designed and the patrons tend to not be noisy. Plan to patronize them again."

  • "The chicken parm which is off the menu is incredibly tasty! Great location in Clarendon and close to all the bars for after dinner drinks and fro-yo! We enjoyed our dinner there!"

  • "Went to La Tagliatella for a late dinner this week. It was our first time there so we had no expectations. We had reservations and were seated right away. The appetizers were delicious, the pasta menu was phenomenal! Great service and definitely a place to return to in the near future."

  • "The food was okay -- Cesar salad was presented well and tasted good, but the pasta was nothing to write home about. They have a concept where you can pick your type of pasta and your sauce, and then add protein if you want. We did this and all members of the party felt it was fairly bland. The service was awful, we waited 30 minutes for our dishes to be cleared even after we specifically asked for them to be cleared."

  • "Our waiter was attentive and perfect Appetizers were very good - carpaccio and focaccio I asked for a side of bolognese and it was there in a flash Chicken Milanese was excellent We had a pizza with duck that tried too hard - not a good topping on a pizza But the pizza was thin crust and very good on its own No room for dessert"

  • "A nice place and I would definitely go back. Rigatoni Alfredo was great. The only glitch was the service, which was a bit spotty but I suspect it was because the waiter was new. He'll get better with time. No harm no foul. Give it a try, the food is great!"

  • "The table was quiet - until they seated two families with infants next to our table. That was fun. The service was fair - until the waiter tried to remove my wife's plate before she was finished. He just grabbed it to "get it out of your way." Hmmm. I guess that he considers a half-eaten dinner to be a nuisance. After all, two of the other people at our table were finished. So, we didn't need to eat any more."

  • "I had read some of the negative reviews and was a bit weary, but decided to give Tagliatella a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. I found that our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was good and there were plenty of options, portions were pretty good for the price too. We went with a group of 8 (including 2 young children) and they were able to easily accommodate. There wasn't a kids menu but they had no problem working with us to make sure the kids were satisfied."

  • "My husband and I particularly enjoy this restaurant together - and from time to time stop here, without reservations, for dinner after work, or for Sunday lunch after services or errands. We enjoy it enough that we also decided it would make a great spot for a romantic Valentine's dinner. The restaurant required reservations (no problem, thank you Open Table), and offered a pre fix menu which looked all right, but when we arrived they also said we could order off the normal menu - which we did! The food was delicious, the presentation was gorgeous, and the service was courteous and prompt. We will certainly continue to patron this restaurant."

  • "The food was good and service was quick but the blackberry buffalo trace cocktail tasted like day old jungle juice."

  • "My wife and I like this restaurant for its good food and great service. Our waitress was very helpful with wine selection and was very knowledgable about the wine and food served at the restaurant. It is a nice place to have a casual meal and on the night we were there, Valentines day, there were many young couples enjoying the food, wine and obviously the company. We will be back"

  • "My girlfriends and I had a wonderful night out. We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the cocktails were exceptional. My friend ordered some sort of black cherry cocktail that was phenomenal while I had a gin drink that was nothing short of amazing. It's difficult to find a nice classy atmosphere around Clarendon but La Tagliatella is just that."

  • "You will leave here buzzed from the noise and good wine and possibly needing to unbutton your waistband, but it is a friendly little bar/restaurant with good quality ingredients in an accessible Italian menu. Also walking distance from Clarendon metro. A good choice if you're not watching your weight!"

  • "Although our table was in a quiet section on arrival, the noise became louder as the "evening" progressed. Our service was very rushed - as if the wait staff were competing to see how fast they could move us out. I guess that they receive a bonus for the most seatings per night. If that were the case, they could probably accommodate 5 sets of diners in a 4 hour evening. If you are looking for a fast, moderately expensive plate of pasta and don't mind shouting at your dinner companions, this is the restaurant for you."

  • "Appetizers were tasty and fresh, as were salads. Entrees, particularly chicken and veal, were quite disappointing, with flat tasting meat, despite the sauces. The meat tasted as if it had been frozen, not fresh, and the portions were small. Accompanying greens and potatoes were nicely prepared. House white wine tasted like low-quality wine, even for a house wine. Server was pleasant and efficient, though rushed."

  • "This restaurant did not blow me away. What I liked was the half priced bottles of wine for a Thursday night. Prices were generally reasonable, service was decent but not great, and the food was average for my experiences of italian. Portions were on the smaller side which is good or bad depending on what you are looking for but worth noting."
