Once again we had an excellent experience at Taberna del Alabardero! I was disappointed not find sweetbreads--the best I've ever had the last time I was here!--but the steak I ordered this time was outstanding, wonderfully flavorful, with roasted peppers. We enjoyed a round of appetizers/tappas, although the chorizo wasn't quite as good as I recall (somewhat stiff and bland). As usual, the service was attentive, and all staff friendly and helpful.

Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. The service was outstanding. Orders were taken promptly and food and drinks brought expeditiously but gracefully. The quality of the food was outstanding. This is and continues to be one of my favorite DC restaurants. A true gem.

I know, this is a consistent Top 100 type restaurant yada, yada, but I just didn't get it. We sat outside, probably our first mistake, and they put us at a table that was uneven and as such we almost lost our drinks a couple of times before I had to get up and stuff sugar packets underneath one of the legs. On top of that, we were directly facing the spotlight illuminating the server's station and we were 2 feet from the front entrance with all the traffic that goes with it (everyone else seemed to have very nice sidewalk seats). Beyond that, the waitstaff was excellent and accommodating. A couple of the tapas were excellent (calamari and flank steak), but the food overall was definitely not worth the price.

We were really looking forward to this dinner which was wonderful. However, it was a Sat. night, we were celebrating another couple's anniversary I made the reservations ahead of time. we arrived to be seated in a pleasant room, HOWEVER, we were next to a table with a few children who were really noisy and not controlled. This waa very annoying as this is a high end restauarnt and we did not expect to have to listen to these kids who were noisy and running around. After they finally left another table came with two more kids. Why don't people leave their kids someplace when dining at a restauarant of this caliber? We would defiently return as the food was delicious and this is supposed to be a upper end and notable DC restauarnt

The apetizer and desert were really lovley. The main course (Seafood Paella) was too wet, and the rice was quite hard. I thought it lacked flavor. I thought the rice could have been cooked for longer and the sauce dried up a bit more.

I knew it was going to be expensive. I just did not like the fact that they don't explain that the half price tapas are only at the bar until you get there. So we ended up paying full price. Restaurant was nice, food was good, just not something I would go to every day because of the price, more for like special occasions. I can get tapas for less at other places.

Also a nice feature is that parking was provided at no additional cost. This is a place we will recommend to others. However, this was a recommended tapas restaurant, but we did not see a tapas menu.

At first, we thought we were being ignored. It took awhile for a waiter to come over. We ordered paella which was only okay. There was not enough seafood and the mussels and clams tasted salty. Not enough flavor. We were really excited to go to the restaurant because we hadn't been there in a few years but were a bit let down about the service and the food.

The quality of the meal, the wine, and service were superb. • CONFIRM MENU WITH RESTAURANT
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

CONFIRM MENU WITH RESTAURANT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS! We dined at Taberna during their recent flamenco festival; the restaurant had a fixed-price menu for $75. I do not eat meat--only fish--but luckily the main course according to the restaurant website would be a fish dish. Unfortunately, when we got to the restaurant the fish main course had been changed to an appetizer, and the main course became pork. I alerted the server of this, but he seemed incredulous. Another diner within earshot confirmed my claim, and reiterated it to the server. Overall the food was very good, but unfortunate that the management made such a careless mistake with the menu, and refused to admit it. For $75 I would have expected more.
