Diner Reviews
  • "We made reservations but didn't need them. It was a bit loud, but that's more of a space issue then an energetic atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and we never needed a thing. I would totally recommend."

  • "A great restaurant for any occasion! The menu selection was great, not crazy like most restaurants downtown where you don't know what you're ordering. An old world Italian style atmosphere with great music! The food was very good and we had great service. The prices were reasonable. We were very pleased."

  • "This restaurant had a nice variety of dishes. The food was excellent and the service was great. The prices are medium high, but the portions were large and I had lunch the next day for my cost. Would definitely recommend."

  • "Get the pesto! Entrees were fresh and creative. Service was excellent."

  • "Our meal at La Strata was just fair; the salad was not the same as the description on the menu an our entree was not great. The food was OK but the service left much to be desired. It seems to us that if you are not ordering from the bar, the attention of the wait staff is negligible. We will not return and we will not recommend La Strada."

  • "I made reservations days in advance for my fiancé's birthday. We arrived precisely on time only to wait 20 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. After we were seated, the waitress passed our table at least three times and said "we'll be right with you." After over fifteen minutes sitting at the table, no one had brought us water or taken our drink order, so we left. It was apparent it was a very busy night, likely because of the nice weather, but the restaurant was very, very understaffed. It was also EXTREMELY noisy in there. Not a place for a romantic evening. We have been to this restaurant before and have had great service and food. It's disappointing we had to have this experience, especially on my fiancé's birthday."

  • "We got there at 5:30 and didn't get our food until 6:45. Our waitress was very busy and when we asked for things we didn't get them. We were on a time schedule and wanted to be out by 7:00 to get to Playhouse by 7:30 and we didn't finish paying and everything until 7:20. The food was good but the service was very poor. The waitress didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that she was not attentive either. The couple next to us got up and left after sitting there for over 15 minutes without even having anyone come to their table or bring them water."

  • "chaotic.noisy.nerve racking ambiance, poor service ,food nothing to brag about."

  • "The food was too salty, and the service was terrible. We were the only ones upstairs (granted the downstairs was packed and loud), and luckily the waiter left a water pitcher on the counter overlooking the balcony, otherwise we would never have gotten any water."

  • "The food was fantastic! The owner was amazing and personable! Made our large party feel right at home. We had 6pm reservations. We were sat right away. When we left at 7:30, the restaurant was really filling up. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "It took over 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us once we were seated, and we nearly left- the table next to us did. Luckily, when our waiter did surface, he was great, though the entire staff were running around like mad attempting to serve a full restaurant and a private party of 60 with just 4 servers in the entire place. If they're having a large event, the owner needs to bring in more staff as there were a lot of unhappy people that a staff that small could not possibly serve to the best of their ability, though they were trying. The bartender made me the wrong drink, and it was equivalent to gasoline, but I felt too bad for our waiter to even send it back. Food was very good, on a brighter note."

  • "We arrived and the restaurant looked cute. We had reservations for 8:30 and were not seated until almost 9:15. We had a group of 10 so we sat at the bar. The bartender was unable to make their signature cocktails because the bar "was out" of many of the needed liquors. Finally after being seated the service was sub par. It took almost an hour and half for the main entrees to reach our table. When they did they were only "ok". The steaks were cooked to the right temperature but had a charred taste on the outside and the pasta needed salt. Again food was OK but not worth 15-35 dollars. From time in to time out of the restaurant was 3.25 hours- TO LONG. I would not recommend this restaurant in the future and our group will NOT be back."

  • "I would definitely recommend getting the meatballs. These were amazing. Our waitress was pretty slammed when we first got there so the hostess took our drink order. The seafood pasta was amazing. Great experience."

  • "The food was fantastic yet it wasn't nearly as fantastic as the service. The owner even took the time to speak with every table regarding their meals. He seemed genuinely concerned with our happiness with everything. I'd definitely return & recommend La Strada to anyone looking for a good meal with great service."

  • "When we first arrived at 6:45 on a Saturday night was quiet and empty. By 7:30 the place was packed. Our server did a excellent job considering her area was over seated. She had the balcony area and her one table of 9 grew to a table of 18. She was very friendly and knew her stuff but got overwhelmed. From what we could see the restaurant needs a few more servers. All of them were running around but had too May people to handle. Our food was very good."

  • "Even though I booked a reservation through open table when we arrived the hostess said our table wasn't ready. We had to wait about 10 minutes. The food was good but nothing special."

  • "We were a party of six with 5:30 pm reservation. Did not seem that busy, but it took exceptionally long get get drinks. Waiter had to be asked to clear the empty bottles away, was not very attentive."

  • "Menu was much smaller than what was shown online. They were out of calamari. The server was horrible."

  • "We've been here a few times and its usually not very crowded. We usually get pretty good service and the food has been solid. This past weekend we had a reservation the day after valentines day. We got there right on time and they told us to go to the bar and have a drink. After waiting 20 minutes and hearing the couple next to us say they were waiting for a table and had been waiting over 45 minutes with a reservation we decided to leave. I think its mishaps and errors like that which keep this restaurant from being great. I would go again but things like this make me consider other places first."

  • "The hostess was friendly and gladly seated us fifteen minutes prior to our reservation. The decor was simple, intimate with dim lighting, a single candle lit at every table. Even though it was Valentine's Day it wasn't crowed or super busy which we figured worked in our favor. Once seated, my husband and I were overlooked for a good 10 minutes, finally a waiter acknowledging us to get our drinks and orders he rarely checked on us, and didn't even offer to ask if we wanted complimentary bread (which we had no idea was being given) until we noticed another table nearby getting theirs. As for our main meals, the wait time was long due to someone taking our order to another table."

  • "The food on Valentine's day was tremendous. Quite possibly the best calamari I've ever had. Melted in my mouth and the sauce was rich and fulfilling. The chicken parmigiana stood up against the standard. Service was not good for the the price points of this establishment. About 10 minutes after putting in our order and server asked if we had put in an appetizer order. Calamari took awhile to come out; entrees were right on it's heels. Had to request bread. Asked for a fruity wine and it was definitely a dry wine. Needed to break a bill and went to the bar and was told they had nothing smaller than twenties. Having tended bar for a good stretch myself this is unlikely."

  • "I saw other reviews and was apprehensive about eating at La Strada. However, I'm glad I tried it for myself because the food was pretty good, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was awesome! This is a perfect first date restaurant. Ask to sit upstairs and it's an amazing intimate setting."

  • "Decor was more Mediterranean - Morcoccan themed. Prior reviews made reference to chairs that screech like fingernails on a chalkboard when slid in and out from the table. That issue persists. My wife and I both felt the food was good, but not exceptional. Given Cleveland's emerging reputation as a dining destination, I would have expected a little better from the lone Italian restaurant on Cleveland's "restaurant row." The music was too loud & did not fit the restaurant theme-too loud to talk! The waiter was a man of few words. Aloof to the point where we almost felt like he was doing us a favor by waiting on us. You don't have to be chatty and pretend to be my best friend, but, hey, makes us feel like you are glad we're there!!"

  • "Though very polite our server knew very little about the limited menu. The fish of the day changed three times on three trips to the table until he got it right. Our order still came out wrong. The food was not worthy of the price. This won't be on our list in the future."

  • "We stopped in before cavs game during the week. Six of us made reservations. We started off with two bottles of wine and some appetizers. The wine was fairly priced and the appetizers were tasty. The main courses were adequate and fairly priced. The only knock on the restaurant was the service. We felt the waitress had better things to do then serve our table. We had to ask the bar tenders for water refills and one of our guests ordered a couple of sides with her salad but never received them even after reminding the waitress. I think with better server training this could be a great place."

  • "My overall rating for this dining experience is 3-stars. When we arrived to the restaurant we were sat upstairs at a two (2) person table. The table itself was 'small' & after ordering food/beverages the table became crowded. The tables were arranged very close to each other so the gentleman behind me bumped me twice and I could hear his conversation as he could hear mine. The restaurant was setup in a romantic candlelight manner. However, I found it very hard to read the menu in the dim lighting. Lastly, the food is quite FANCY but the price is not. I ordered the Hanger Steak which comes in a 'bowl' cut up about 3ozs; covered in broth. I was not impressed with the quantity of food for the price."

  • "This is a great East 4th find!!! The wine is delightful! The calamari was some of the best calamari I have had! The portions are big, especially the pasta, so you will have leftovers. I got the basil, pesto pasta, 1/2 order and it was perfect, with a side salad. My date got the chicken marsala! We both LOVED our meals and definitely will return again in the future!!"

  • "The calamari is the best in town. The red sauce is very authentic. It's easy to over indulge with Italian food, but while the portions were substantial, we never got that overstuffed feeling. We owe that to the freshness of the ingredients."

  • "We went here before a Cavs game. Easy valet parking on E.4th, quick walk to restaurant and Quicken Loans Arena. Nice service, warm atmosphere, notable Italian cuisine. Reasonable price. Even the salad was scrumptious."

  • "Food is great...service is like they have never waited on tables before. ..we thought the 1st time on a Sunday afternoon was strange...well on o Tuesday early evening was worse...it's like the staff is to hord the bread....grated cheese and grated pepper. ..food is awesome. ..but ordering and delivery is a whole different comment category. ...the staff is very friendly but honestly the waitstaff has no idea what the kitchen is up to...... 2 visits with in the last month. ..as I've said. ..awesome food...but waitstaff that was lacking in training and common curiosity. ..no clue how to get guests to eat try and come back.....but honestly after 2 visits...there was only 1 other table with customers both times"

  • "I can honestly say that I was a little disappointed in my experience with LaStrada. I loved the atmosphere and how quiet it was, but the food was just so-so. I ordered the Cheese Ravioli and the my friend ordered the Alfredo. The food was lukewarm, which was kind of disappointing and the Alfredo noodles weren't cooked all the way. I feel like LaStrada has the potential to be better, but for the price I wouldn't go back again."

  • "Every single time we've come to this restaurant, it's been a disappointing food and dining experience. Your staff has to learn how to fill water glasses and be generous with bread. You have East 4th prices but not East 4th service."
    Dined on 1/4/2014
  • "First off, the food here was good although it fell somewhat short of my expectations given the write-ups and reviews I had read prior to my visit to Cleveland. La Strada was almost entirely empty when we were there -- perhaps due to the post New Year's period and the bad weather -- which called more attention to that its setting is more "bar" than "restaurant" which is why I have rated its ambience as "poor." On the evening we were there it was so unbearably cold INSIDE that we all took to wearing our coats while we were dining; a reality that the staff had little empathy for (as they were wearing vests and jackets as well). La Strada is probably a better place to select for a place to have a drink and meet up with friends."

  • "Reception people were very friendly and courteous, bar selection was not overpriced and their workers were also friendly and courteous. Food was cooked perfect as ordered and waitress was there or nearby when needed. Also met the owner who seems totally cool and personable, made the evening. The place felt like a small bistro style restaurant ."
