Diner Reviews
  • "Is it true that you are moving to my neighborhood near Rosecrans and Highland?"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "The service was superior; Christian was respectful of our privacy, but checked on us throughout the dinner with genuine warmth. Irving was also helpful and quick. The 'board' that everyone talked about on Yelp was good, not great. THe bread that accompanies is not our type for meat and cheese. However, other appetizers , asparagus and egg were very good. We split the whole fish, and the lobster gnocchi . FIsh was very good, gnocchi was excellent. Desserts are traditional, nothing fantastic. We would return for SURE, but order differently."

  • "It took 3 1/2 hours for dinner. We had to wait a considerable amount of time for our food. It appeared there was a kitchen problem but our server did not even let us know, we had to ask when our food would arrive. portions are small and pricey. Food was good the meat and cheese appetizer with truffle honey was the highlight of the meal. They did comp us our dessert."

  • "Nice restaurant kind of like dining in an Italian home. The food was good, especially the Cutting Board. However, the prices are very high for what you get. Good place to go for a romantic dinner maybe one time but price to quality ratio is not really very good. Glad I went once but probably would not go again, at least not often."

  • "My boyfriend and I are South Bay locals and had been saving La Sosta for a special occasion (we'd heard amazing things from friends) and finally decided to visit on our 5 year anniversary. We were SO impressed with everything... from the beautiful ambiance, to the service to the absolutely exceptional food. Everything was perfect. We had the Cutting Board for our appetizer (to die for!) as well as a Filet Tartar (a first for both of us and I couldn't have loved it more) and for our main course, we had the Lobster Gnocchi and Black Truffle Fettuccine which were both some of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. I felt like I had been taken out of LA, transported to Italy and it was truly a wonderful night. We will 100% be back in the future."

  • "I like small intimate restaurants where the focus is on food and giving the customer a great experience. First time at La Sosta Enoteca but look forward to returning."

  • "Food, service and ambience outstanding. Pricey but worth it. Highly recommend for that special occasion."

  • "Through the years La Sosta has been a special restaurant to manhattan/hernias beach. But many travel far to taste authentic Italian food and incredible wines. All served in a warm friendly atmosphere. Don't forget to indulge in the dessert wines after a meal of fresh pasta, or lamb or any seafood meal. Atmosphere is cozy, quiet, I wouldn't take toddlers."

  • "Had been to this place for my wife's birthday. Very romantic, food was awesome, wine recommend was nice. Overall an excellent experience."

  • "We looked forward to our first experience at La Sosta, but were very disappointed. We found the food bland, basically ordinary fare with a high price tag. We would not frequent this establishment again, nor recommend it to friends or family."

  • "After having read other reviews, I assumed that concerns regarding portion sizes at La Sosta Enoteca were being raised by diners expecting an Olive-Garden sized meal. While my expectations were far lower, I was still disappointed. The restaurant has nice ambiance, but the service was inattentive, the entrees overpriced, and the flavors underwhelming. I ordered black linguine with scallop and cuttlefish oil. I received a small mound of pasta (about the size of a muffin top) adorned with a single flaccid scallop. Upon further investigation, I found it was only HALF a scallop, sliced cross-wise. I wonder if they would have charged $64 for the whole thing? It took 30 seconds to finish and then another 30 minutes to get the check. Fail."

  • "3 ribs for $52. Unusually small portion for such a high price...petite sides too...I won't be going back!!!"

  • "Poor service, incredibly expensive for what you get, portion size very small, poor food value, very noisy--generally a no go!"

  • "I ate here Friday night after having lunch at The Factory Kitchen in downtown LA. Dining at the two restaurants 6 hours apart caused me to judge one against the other. There is no comparison between them. Every dish at Factory Kitchen's was fantastic. While the setting at La Sosta is very nice and the service is fine the Pasta dishes here are bland, overlooked and over priced. Way too expensive for mediocre food"

  • "Fabulous gem that I have driven by hundreds of times. It was splay fabulous on all levels. You MUST eat here. Definitely not inexpensive, but simply superb!"

  • "We had dinner at la stossa recently and while the food and service was good, it is very expensive for what was served. The bottle of wine that we chose ended up on the bill $18.00 more expensive than I'm the menu."

  • "we celebrated our one year anniversary here and it was perfect. our server promptly greater us and wished us a happy anniversary with two complementary glasses of champagne. she was very friendly and gave us excellent food and wine recommendations. She is clearly well versed on the menu which is nice as not all servers are familiar with all their dishes in some places. overall we felt special."

  • "Any chef that will not make simple changes to a dish that is requested by a customer is an arogant SOB! We will never go back to the restaurant nor will we recommend the restaurant to anyone. Our request was very simple (eliminate potatoes from a salad), how easy is that!"

  • "Arrived 10 minutes early for our 7:45 reservation. We got seated at 8:05. When we sat down they told us the specials. After 20 minutes they came to take our order just to find out that they had run out of one of the specials. When we complained, they told us that they just run out. Had they been more timely with the reservation and taking of the order, we probably would have been able to order the soup. They also did not have the bottle of wine that we had ordered. The salad was just ok but the pasta was very good. We went with such high hopes to find a neighborhood gem but were highly disappointed. Service was also not the best."

  • "Receiving e-mail from Open Table about the most romantic restaurant. I had to try the best. The real candle on the table, knocked me out first. Service was friendly and professional, made us feel very comfortable. We felt like we were back in Italy where we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Food was simple and delicious. I already requested my Husband to take me here for my BD. Let's hope he remembers."

  • "My husband and I had been meaning to try La Sosta Enoteca for quite some time. When a long time friend flew into town for the weekend we decided we would make a reservation and give it a shot. The time slot we wanted wasn't available so I made a reservation for an hour earlier and added a note to the reservation asking if they could try to fit us in a bit later. My call was returned by a very friendly host assuring us that they could move the reservation to a little later. Our waiter was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Our food was amazing. Great experience."

  • "La Sosta Enoteca is quickly becoming our special-occasion restaurant of choice! We adore the wine, food, ambiance, and the service is always excellent. It can be a bit pricey, but is well worth it for a special night."

  • "La Sosta is one of the few restaurants we know will be always delightful. Dinner and wine list is just amazing, taste, enjoyable. if you like a signature Italian food this is the place!"

  • "Several work colleagues raved about La Sosta and we decided to visit for our wedding anniversary. Since the recommendations were stellar, I assumed it would be great - but I had no idea it would be far better than I imagined. The "cutting board" is their signature appetizer and the quality of the cheese and meats were evident. We proceeded to have the gnocchi w/lobster sauce and all I can say is WOW. Don't miss it. Went on to have tortalini and lamb chops. Again, amazing. Wine, atmosphere and attentive service rounded out an excellent dinner and memorable anniversary."

  • "For authentic, delicious Italian food, try out La Sosta. Small quaint place, cozy and romantic, not really for young kids. Great menu for pastas and the meat/cheese plate was amazing. I had the scallops since I am on a paleo diet and they were large and delicious.. cooked to perfection. It was twin daughters 24th bday, (they suggested restaurant) and they brought out a beautiful dessert treat of profiteroles and spiced sliced apples. Service spot on. Highly recommend."

  • "As always we were very happy with our dinner at La Sosta. The food is made fresh and reminds us of meals we had in Venice, Itlay. This is not a place for people in a hurry as things are carefully prepared and not pre-cooked. Chef Luca was a runner-up on Chopped and I think he might have been victorious if the time was not so limiting."
    Dined on 11/27/2013
  • "Luca never seems to fail. His northern Italian / Venetian menu is just awesome: Spaghetti all Bottarga and Branzino are always the best. Highly recommended."

  • "Why do some restaurants feel the need to intentionally trick their customers into paying for things that they don't want? Sure, in the short term the restaurant will grab a few extra bucks but in the long run customers leave feeling that they were ripped off they and will not return. The waiter asked if we'd prefer flat or sparking water. Well, it doesn't matter which you ask for because they charge for both. My wife asked for a caprese salad. Waiter said that's not on the menu but they can do it. He didn't mention that it would cost over $20! They do not sell sodas or ice tea, which didn't sit well with my companions who happen to not drink alcohol. Other than all of that, the food is always good hear and it's a pleasant place."

  • "Just a great restaurant for a special occasion. Great wine list and they've been great about giving recommendations when necessary. Items I've gotten that I've loved include a cutting board of meats and cheeses, the lobster gnocchi, the scallops, and the tiramisu"
