Diner Reviews
  • "We are regulars here and we can honestly say we never have a bad experience! We always order the same thing regardless if it is on the menu or not - they are so accommodating! We have never needed to flag down our server - they are always on top of things!"

  • "Nice outdoor area. Great wine. Great service. Loud inside. Calamari was too salty. Pesto sauce was thin and watery. Food was not hot. The bread was good. Our waitress was very nice. Took the calamari off the bill. This place would be great and I would consider going back if the food was better."

  • "The hostess' smile as we walked in told us this was a great choice of places to dine. White linen topped with paper prepared us for a lovely evening of food and wine. Would return and try other dishes."

  • "Food, Drinks & Service were outstanding! Crowded, compact and noisy, but really worth it if that doesn't bother you."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "They always have new items on their menu so you can always find something new to try. Of course, we also have favorites that are always on the menu. If you like Italian, you will love Francesca's!"

  • "This dining spot is right in the heart of Naperville, which is what we were looking for with the kids on Saturday evening. We were able to book a reservation same day. The service here was exceptional and were accommodating when we asked to turn down the AC upon our arrival as it was a bit chilly on the top floor. Unfortunately, we were unimpressed with the food. The tomatoes in the Caprese salad were not ripe and the Cavetelli e pesto con Pollo was extremely bland and left a lot to be desired. Will probably not return."

  • "Good food but understaffed to provide good service."

  • "always one of the favorites around the area. The pasta dish I had this time was a little weak but the wife loved her's. Great service as always."

  • "We have been to a couple other Francesca's and decided to try this one out since it's closer to home. They didn't disappoint. We had 2 appetizers the calamari and the brusetta and both were amazing. My husband had the rib eye steak and I had the roasted chicken with oven baked potatoes. This dish is to die for. I get it EVERY time I go to a Francesca's! Everything was wonderful. Our server was a joy, making sure we had what we needed, but not going overboard bothering us. The ambiance is charming as well. I can't wait to go back."

  • "I haven't been to La Sorella di Francesca in a few years--no particular reason, just hadn't been. I had forgotten just how good it is. I got a negroni, my companion a very good and reasonably priced glass of cabernet. Our appetizer, the Carpaccio, arrived, and while it seemed huge when it was set down in front of us, we enjoyed every last morsel. My lovely companion enjoyed rigatoni with sausage (sadly, no peas), and it was hearty and delicious. I opted for the Pollo Saltamboca. The portion was large but every bite delicious and tender. With our dinner, I opted for a Pinot Gris, and my date another glass of cabernet. The lemon torte with cream cheese for dessert was modestly sized, but absolutely delicious. Service was attentive."

  • "Food was only fair. One entrée was not good...noodles not cooked, another pasta entrée was watery. We have been to Francesca's by the River in St. Charles and the food was a lot better. Our server in Naperville was very nice, though."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We've enjoyed going to La Sorella many times since it opened in Naperville, but had not been for a couple years so we decided to go last Friday before moving out of state. Food was still good; service was great but the ambiance was very disappointing -- it seems La Sorella has become so kid-friendly, as one of our party remarked, it's like being in an upscale Chucky Cheese. We all have kids and enjoy them as much as anyone does -- but when going out to dinner, we were looking for a place with a different vibe than this one."

  • "Something was a bit off this time. The food was good. The service was not up to its usual level."

  • "My family and I went out to dinner at La Sorella di Francesca. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was spot on! Everything from the bread and olive oil starter to the rich desserts was to die for! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who happens to be in the downtown Naperville area and is looking for high quality Italian."

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and he was totally surprised when they brought a complimentary dessert with a candle at the end of our meal. The food was amazing! We had great service, we will definitely be back! "

  • "Service was very attentive without being intrusive. Each of us ordered just a pasta. Portions were enormous, and each dish was delicious! Great food, great service, and reasonable prices!"

  • "My wife and I enjoy going to La Sorella di Francesca's for special occasions. I booked our reservation thru opentable.com and requested a window seat to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Our waitress was fantastic. The walnut salad was great. My wife ordered the halibut, but with the Balsamico sides that came with the skate wing (capers and spinach). It was awesome. I had the seafood pasta (very good, but had remorse..should have ordered the halibut al Balsamico). "

  • "This upscale-casual Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Naperville delivers consistently exceptional food and service, and has become one of my wife's new favorites due to their extensive gluten-free menu and friendly flexibility with respect to even more options for those with dietary restrictions. Proving, once again, that gluten-free does not mean bland and boring."

  • "My new wife and I took our parents there for their first meeting. We are both foodies from DC and SF. Service was very professional and prompt. It was a bit noisy at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. The pasta dishes were great but the Pork chops a bit tough. The olive oil was excellent. Good wine list. The bill was very reasonable for 6. Parking was a small challenge given the holiday weekend and a prime dining out night. I would definitely eat there again, not 5 star but a solid place to go for good Italian when you need a break from cooking at home. "

  • "We had a great dinner on Sunday 5/18/14. The food was great and the service was really good. We asked for a lunch item but no luck. That was OK because all the meals were great"

  • "Dinner is always good a Francescas. Great old world feel with tight tables and great atmosphere. Small menu but you know everything on it will be very good. My only issue was the very short wine pours (at $14 a glass, not sure 1/3 glass is what you are supposed to get). Tried a cheaper By the Glass and had the same pour. Outside of that, great spot."

  • "Always reliable- excellent food and location in downtown Naperville-definitely one of my favorites!"

  • "Great food but so loud you could not hear across the table to talk. "

  • "This place in the heart of Naperville is a great dinner spot for couples as well as families, but it is a more-formal restaurant so not kid-friendly for running around. The first floor is traditional small table italian seating and the food/wine is excellent. We have done both small plate appetizer dinners there as well as full course weekend dining."

  • "Always get the carpaccio! Food quality and service are always very good. Can be a bit crowded and noisy. "

  • "My stepmom and I had a great time. We arrived at 11:00, before the lunch rush, so it was nice and quiet. Their gluten-free menu is as extensive as the regular menu. I'm glad my stepmom asked to see it, because I ordered off of that menu as well. I had the lemon chicken, always a favorite of mine. I thought the chicken was a little overcooked, as it was kind of tough around the edges. But everything else about it was fabulous. My stepmom loved her chicken dish, too. We shared the flourless chocolate cake and devoured it in minutes."

  • "The food was amazing as well as the service. Our waitress was very attentive. The manager even came over several times to check on us as well as offer the bride (that being me) a complimentary drink of my choice and gave the entire table a glass of their homemade limoncello. This was by far one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I will definitely be coming back"

  • "We dine at three of the Chicagoland Francesca's (Naperville, Geneva and Taylor Street) and love them all - great food, wonderful and friendly service, changing menu's, etc. They're also great with young children. "

  • "Open table found a place and time for us. Francesca's is one of our favorites, close to home, and parking is always free in downtown Naperville. The entrees were delicious, dessert divine, and the waiter delightful. We will go again. "

  • "Loved it! Will be back soon! Came for lunch dinner within the same week and tried your risotto and salmon and salad. Both were excellent. I will tell all my friends."

  • "We had a late evening dinner, and this was one of the worst dining experiences that I have ever had. The restaurant was extremely loud, and the service was unreasonably slow. Our waitress took 40 minutes to come take our appetizer and dinner order. While we were waiting, the staff continually brought food to out table that we did not order. After waiting another 40 minutes for our dinner to arrive, the pork chop special, which was supposed to be cooked "medium" was well done and dry. There was no point in sending it back, since I didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for a replacement. We will not be back."

  • "The food and the service at La Sorella is always good. We have dined multiple times at locations in Downtown Naperville, South Naperville and Bolingbrook and always enjoyed it. However, this time we were in Downtown Naperville and found ourselves waiting too long for our waiter to take our order, serve our drinks, bring our appetizers, refill our drinks, bring our check... you get the idea. We spent much of our time wondering if he was going to come back and when he did we had to practically wave our arms in the air to get his attention. This should have never happened in a restuarant space this small and intimate."
