Diner Reviews
  • "La Sorella di Francesca has been at the top of Naperville dining for years. It is our go to place for special occasions and good fresh Italian food. It's location, in the old City Hall, gives it a historic perspective."

  • "Since the opened in Naperville this has always been a favorite of ours. The asparagus blue cheese salad and their fish specials are delicious!"

  • "We really enjoyed everything about our experience. The calamari was delicious! We also had a bottle of Malbec that was reasonably priced and yummy! This restaurant isn't crazy expensive but you wouldn't know that by the quality of food!"

  • "Service was excellent, menu a little sparse, food was OK, not great. Way too noisy for our taste"

  • "The room is full of charm and feels very original, not ordinary or cookie cutter. The food was good and I want to come back to try more. The service was great and Bridgett our server was very helpful. Bridgett provides classic, professional, european style of service. She participated in every phase of service to our table. Many times you only see the wait assistants throughout the mid part with the server only there at the beginning and end. Bridgett was there throughout keeping the table clear and monitoring our comfort level at every phase."

  • "Veal medallions were supposed to be medium rare and they were overcooked and very tough."

  • "Of all the great restaurants in Naperville, La Sorella di Francesca is our absolute favorite. We dined upstairs, which is a bit more intimate than downstairs. Bridget was our server: bright and happy as always. I had the Veal medallions and my wife had the swordfish. Both were superior dishes. My wife claims it's the best meal she has ever eaten. I took a taste of her fish and it was delicious. Sorella's opened in 1994 and to celebrate, they rolled back the prices to match what they were 20 years ago. No wonder we like this establishment so much."

  • "Great restaurant for drinks, dinner, talking. We chose a great night as they were celebrating 20th anniversary - menu offered all items at 1994 prices! Fun!"

  • "Great service and consistently good food at good prices. Ambiance is very European and relaxed."

  • "My husband and I has dinner there on a Saturday night, which i would recommend you make a reservation. Right from the beginning we were greeted and made to feel special. Although the noise level was a bit too high for conversation at times the ambience, the wait staff, and the food were wonderful! We would return and with others in a heartbeat."

  • "As always, La Sorella delivers a wonderful meal & great evening. The grilled calamaria was an ourstanding start to our evening. Pasta, fish & checken entrees were each tastefully prepared & pleased everyone. Dessert not be be missed! Can't wait for our next visit!"

  • "All Francesca restaurants have my loyalty. Their menus are consistently excellent. Their food is plentiful and superb! Usually some left for take home. Service was just ok on this trip though this is not my usual experience. Relaxed lunch atmosphere. Good place to meet with friends. Keep up the good work!!"

  • "If you love Italian food, then this is the place for you. We have been going to this restaurant at least 3 times per year for the last 7 years and always good food, great service and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend it."

  • "Consistently good food. Best bread i town! I love the Salmon...and nice to be remembered by staff when dining."

  • "The food was overpriced for what you get as far as portions and taste. The waiter kept trying to up sell us everything he could, he was not very attentive to our table otherwise. I noticed that the bus boy did a lot of what he should have been doing. Both upstairs and downstairs were extremely crowded, people rubbing against your chair constantly. The only thing I would say positive about it was that there is a romantic vide to the way its decorated and the lighting. I would never recommend to anyone."

  • "My wife asked for pork well done and had to return it twice because it was undercooked. My friend asked for carrot cake without whipped cream and it was served with whipped cream. At the these high prices the service should be impeccable."

  • "The noise level was terrible. Wouldn't go back. Sorry The food and service was great but couldn't talk."

  • "I loved everything about this elegant restaurant. Food was great, service wonderful, architecturally beautiful building and dining room, view from window tables is fun."

  • "La Sorella is right in the middle of downtown Naperville. Every time I go, I know I'm going to get great service and a great dinner. La Sorella has the ambiance of some restaurants in the Loop. It's very warm and friendly and a place where friends can meet up for a drink or dinner. This time I had the tilapia. It was cooked to perfection and the bed of cabbage and pancetta was fabulous. I would highly recommend La Sorella as a place to go on a date or just stopping in if you're in the neighborhood. I don't think you'll be disappointed."

  • "You always get a great dish at Francescas. The fish is always exceptional and their consistency is what is awesome…never a bad meal."

  • "We went here on the Saturday of Valentine's Day weekend so not the best time to critique a restaurant. That being said they did a good job of getting you in and out, it felt a little rushed but nothing horrible. I've eaten here 3 other times and always had a good meal, good service and I really like the atmosphere. This time however was a disappointment in the food category. I ordered the linguine and clams, one of my favorite Italian dishes, and I've never seen clams so small. The bowl was full of linguine and a handful of miniscule clams. I will probably come back here but will never order that dish again. My lady had the half chicken which was delicious, she shared some with me thankfully as I didn't want to "fill up" on pasta."

  • "We went there for lunch on Valentine's Day, our first time there. The wine was good, pizza was great, but the pasta was $20 (different price than the regular lunch menu) and an absolute miss. It was recommended by the server, it was fettuccine with a ragout. It was not good at all and it wasn't hot. My husband had the chicken with potatoes and it was pretty good. He's Italian and we go back to Italy all the time and we are also in the gourmet food business and we were hoping the food would be more authentic. We had been looking forward to going there for a while and unsure if we would come back again. We liked the wine selection, but it is hard to go back to an Italian restaurant if they can't do pasta right. The service was good though."

  • "The food is great, as is the service, but it is just too noisy to be enjoyable."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "The place was hoping. The service, given the volume, was nothing short of outstanding. The servers movements were coordinated with one another and there was little to zero wait on anything in a packed house. I ordered the filet. Medium rare. It was medium well. My guess is the chef pre-cooked the filets due to the crownd. bad call. Quality suffered. I should have gotten the pasta."

  • "i love going there, never disappointed with the food, everything very good! thank you!"
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We brought friends who have never been here. Food did not compare to our last experience. Granted, it was Valentine's Day, but the busyness should not have effected the quality of the food. If I did not know that they are capable of better, I would not waste my time and money to return. I will give them one more chance!"

  • "We were so glad they were able to accomodate us much earlier than our reservation time. The food is superb, the service was excellent. My only complain was the room was so cold even when the room was packed. I have to keep my scarf and wear my gloves while dining. Gives me flashback whenever we eat in Chinatown, the food is great but they dont heat the room!"

  • "This resturant is one of the established mainstays of downtown Naperville...that said I assume they have added tables to accommodate more patrons. As a consequence you feel like a sardine firmly packed! No private conversations here! Our waitress got our drink order but forgot our appetizer...which was not needed as our dinner orders arrived first.... My husband has always enjoyed yhis place and he even said I that this is our last visitt. Too bad."

  • "We had a great experience! Good food, good service, nice atmosphere,,,,,,,,all around a great experience. We were seat upstairs where the room seems to be quieter than first floor seating adjacent to the bar."

  • "Tables area little tight but the service was great as was the pretty authentic Italian food."

  • "I went with my girlfriend to this place for valentines day. The food was great. It wasn't amazing but it was really good. The prices were satisfactory. The setting was very romantic though and the waiters were very attentive."

  • "Our favorite neighborhood place. Fit for families or a date. Food is straightforward but almost always great and the service is comfortably attentive. A must for suburban night out. Can be on the loud side but atmosphere, food and service make up for that."

  • "Upon our recent visit to La Sorella di Francesca's, we were 'wowed' by the entire dining experience! We ordered the Capese Salad and order of risotto- especially fantastic! Then we ate three pasta dishes that were all vegetarian. We finished with the apple tart. Everything was great....but a little pricy."

  • "Not big on chains but finally decided to give them a try. Staff are friendly and food was better than I was expecting givin it is not what I would call classic Italian."

  • "We had a wonderful time at La Sorella di Francesca! The food and wine were perfect. It was busy, but the waiter, bus boys, and manager were excellent. It really is an amazing place to go for a night out as a couple or with a big group. Enjoy!"
