Decor was great. Food was lukewarm when it arrived. Server was very cool (not in a good way). Probably won't come back as there are other French-type restaurants with better value.

I have been to La Societe many times for lunch but never at dinner. My dinner with friends, the other 3 who had never been at the restaurant before was amazing, the food is always excellent, bearutifull presented & the serving /clearing staff always great. The staff at the front desk are incredibly accommodating and even make sure you get free parking. I have never used open table to make a reservation before, it so easy it was great...

Great wine list and knowledgable servers. At first it looked like they were trying to set a record for how fast they could turn us around. If we hadn't of asked for a break I think our main course might have arrived before our appetizers were cleared away. But very accommodating after we asked to hold off and let us breath first. My appetizer was delicious - quinoa salad. Had the grilled octopus for my main - octopus was cooked to perfection but was destroyed by the salsa verde that covered it, which was so so so salty it rendered the dish inedible...and at that price point that simply should never happen So I'm not likely to return but I wouldn't say never go

This was my first and last time at La société. There is very little selection on the menu and everything is overpriced. Thirty two bucks for a piece of salmon for lunch? Really? Are you kidding me? I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was nineteen bucks. Not bad tasting, but the ''frites'' (not fires, frites!) were cold. This resataurant should have a more affordable lunch menu with more options. Disappointing.

There was a DJ with a ''nightclub'' very loud music at the restaurant, it gave us both a headache. The bred was cold and dry. We had a horrible tiny table in the middle of other people with no space. The service was great, they found us another table.

Took a friend from out of town to Saturday Lunch. Even though we had reservations, we were asked to wait for about 15 minutes in the bar. During that time, several different servers came over to update us as to the status of our table. For example, "They are just having coffee." "Just another few minutes, they have asked for the bill." "It'll be just a few more minutes as they have just paid the bill." "Oh, they are beginning to get up from the table." Finally, "We will seat you in 90 seconds, were just resetting the table." REALLY!! While I'm sure that the intention was to keep us informed, it became soooo very annoying. We placed our orders, then our server returned to say that they were all out of what one member of our party had ordered. She was given a menu and asked to select again. She made her decision and then had to wait for about 10 minutes before her second order was taken. Food arrived fairly quickly, however, my friend's quiche was COLD. It then took several minutes before we could flag down the server. Her plate was whisked away and she was promised a whole new quiche. About 10 minutes later a second quiche was presented. Although this one was barely warm, my companion decided to just eat it, as the rest of our party was more than half way through their meals. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

dinner this time, a little disappointing, food had to be returned to warm, and while it tasted fine, it was just that. a great location, but a bit pricey at $180 for 2, cheapest wine on the menu at $40, mushroom soup at $12, petite filet & steak frites, a latte & an americano at $5 & $4.75 respectively. oh well.

Menu sufficiently varied, service friendly and helpful, food excellent taste and full portion. Coordination among wait staff was a plus. Ambiance was quite suitable. Background music at times irritating. Bench cushion seating too low. Side orders are too big a portion for single plate, especially when diners have different tastes. Personally prefer sides to be included with meal. Meals and wine somewhat expensive, but represent fair value for quality and quantity of food.

Walked by this restaurant earlier in the week and thought it looked interesting. Our first trip to Montreal and were in the mood for nice french food in a unique setting. La Societe was perfect! Waiter was charming and attentive with good suggestions on what to order and pair together. It's not the cheapest place, so be prepared to spend but you get quality for your money. The decor speaks to an elegant time past. Would be amazing to rent out for a private party with the stained glass ceiling.

Had brunch here and everything about the experience was amazing. The waiters were amazing, always attending to your needs without having to search for them once. They were at the table frequently filling up water and checking that the experience was good. I had the homemade chocolate milkshake and vanilla waffles which were both really amazing. I'd highly recommend going there for a good brunch.

My daughter and I dined there for dinner and the first thing we noticed when we entered was the thumping music in the background. While we eventually got used to it, we both found it a little off-putting. This is not a night club and most of the patrons were not in their twenties or thirties. The woman who served us was very friendly and attentive. When we complained that the frites were too salty (my daughter and I to like salt but these were way over the top), she exchanged them for a new batch, without hesitation and with a smile. The dinner portions were substantial and neither of us had room for dessert. The food, while not amazing was certainly quite good, especially the French onion soup which was very traditional and tasty.

  • Don't order scallops as main course
    Jonnie
    Dined on 10/6/2014
Paid $32 for four scallops with virtually nothing else on the plate; OK as an appetizer, but ridiculous as a main course. After 5 minutes, I was done and looked around and my fellow diners were still in the middle of their dishes, so the amount of food on a main course clearly varies a great deal. Room is beautiful but can get very loud. Great bar for afternoon drink/refreshment.

Ordered lobster and mussels, which my friend and I shared. Food arrived almost immediately, which suggests it was pre-cooked and waiting. Lobster was tasty but not hot. Fries were excellent. Mussels were small, but sauce was tasty and bread was great. Service was spotty as we had several waiters. One was very non-responsive, while the others were great. The restaurant was not that busy, but the noise level was very high. I would suggest the patio in nice weather.

Had a delicious lunch at La Societe. I keep going back for the yummy C's burger topped with maple bacon and the dry vodka martinis accompanied with the perfect martini olives! Very pretty restaurant and great location for any occasion night or day. We had great service provided by Shawn who was very patient. The only negative is that the restaurant has a very high noise level. Difficult to hear conversation if you are with more than one person at the table. I'll be back🍔🍸
