Overall great restaurant experience - thanks!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little jointFun French food that's satisfying without pretense or stuffiness. The fact that it's BYOB is amazing. Cash or check only. Great value for the $$$.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat find!the perfect spot to have great food out of the tourist areas. Delicious food, superb service, no corking fee.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great FindExcellent food preparations, fine service. We had onion soup, mussels, salad, pork tenderloin, beef tournedos and a delicious dessert. We brought our own wine. Highly recommended.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThis is one of my faves, i've lost count as to how many times i've dined there, as always, OUTSTANDING.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Little GemWhile their prix fixe value menu is no longer, they have a wonderful selection of appetizers, mussels, steaks and other traditional french bistro fare. Their unlimited vegetable sides are served on dainty plates but the servers were attentive and happy to refill the plates. The BYOB policy is also a great value and hard to find in NY.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious escargot. Foie gras,Delicious escargot. Foie gras, outstanding. Filet mignon topped with foie gras, to die for. BYOB, a bonus. Cash only.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat French food. The saucesGreat French food. The sauces were beautifully done.
The squid appetizer was the highlight - perfectly cooked
and surprisingly inventive. The tarte rating was a bit of
a disappointment.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to La Sirene two yearsI went to La Sirene two years ago, and their food is what made me travel to France the following year. Just two days ago I returned to La Sirene for my birthday, and I was not disapointed. Although the lamb was prepared differently this time then last, it did not lose that great flavor. The escargos were delicious and so was the roasted pear. The pefiteroles are incredible to say the least. Overall, this was an amazing restaurant to go to for my birthday and I have recommended it to many others. Relaxing atmosphere, plus a good looking chef and waiter that were actually French. What more could you ask forr?4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI take a good friend (whoI take a good friend (who is also a foodie) out to dinner about twice a month in NYC. Our experience at La Sirene was both amazing and exceptional.
We both had their signature dish, a Filet Mignon topped with Foie Gras and a delicious and not overpowering sauce, that was absolutely fantastic. The steak was tender enough to cut with a butter knive and the combined taste was unlike anything I've ever had.
Even the free (all you can eat vegetables) were amazing. How do they make pureed carrots so delicious. Make sure you save room for desert, they were varied and terrific.
Cash only and you can bring your own wine. We will definitely be coming back!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMvery happy. The goat cheesevery happy. The goat cheese tart was gorgeous - just the right size to share between 2/3 people as one of a couple of starters. Foie gras topped filet mignon - rich sauce, sublime. Very recommendable.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for dinner on Sat MarchWent for dinner on Sat March 30th with a friend who found it online and i returned the next evening(Sun) with a date and i enjoyed it both times. La Sirene is a wonderful little place for romatic dinners and special occasions with someone special in your life, and it's BYOB3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cassoulet was excellent. The cassoulet was excellent. This seemed like very authentic French food (I am not a foodie). I definitely did get my money's worth.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench Food at its BestOur dinner group had entrees ranging from steak to pork to fish and each dish was outstanding, as was the side tray of vegetables. Easily the best food I've experienced in NY in quite a while. It had the feeling of a small restaurant in the French countryside, with a relaxed ambiance, coupled with outstanding food. The no corkage fee BYOB policy worked very well, and allowed for a better wine than would be otherwise affordable for a casual dinner. We had a perfect table near the front of the restaurant, but it appeared that other tables might be a bit too close to the kitchen.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Sirene is my favorite restaurantLa Sirene is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is fantastic and service is always friendly and helpful but not overwhelming (who likes a waiter/waitress constantly hovering at the table? Not me). No corkage fee for BYOB which is a plus. The tournedos and the cassoulet are the best items on the menu. The octopus appetizer and goat cheese tart are also outstanding. Go here hungry and you won't be disappointed. A little bit out of the way, but a wonderful place for a "date night".3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood spotWith its BYOB policy, this place is an affordable, rare find in the Soho/Tribeca area. Cozy atmosphere with good service too. We had the moules mariniere (broth was excellent, mussels so-so). Our friends had the hanger steak with herbs, which was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked. The all you can eat sides of veggies were delicious too. Highly recommend.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful evening! What a wonderful evening! We battled the snowstorm on Monday from the UWS to have an amazing dinner at La Sirene accompanied by 2 friends & 2 of our bottles from our collection. We started with the goat tartelette, classic mussels, & the octopus. All were delicious, but the tartelette was the absolute best. Great recommendation by our lovely waiter. For entrees, we shared the lamb, kassulet & the baked seafood which we all loved. They even gave us all you can eat veggies. We will definitely come back with more of our friends who are wine lovers. I love byob restaurants, and I wish I would've known about this place sooner. Thanks to our waitress also for a lovely evening.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
