Special birthday dinner.Wonderful evening, Staff was very attentive and many nice personal touches by the restaurant for my daughters birthday.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in BaltimoreLa Scala has been and remains our favorite restaurant for northern Italian cuisine in the Baltimore metro region. Niño's creativity, particularly with veal, is the stuff of legend here in town. We have searched for the best saltimbocca for the past 12 years and nobody does it better than La Scala. Combine this with Niño's Mother's Cannolis and you have a nearly perfect dinner. We routinely bring our out of town guests here and they are usually equally impressed. Our only knock on this dinner was that our table ended up being in the far back corner of the upper dining room area right next to a service stand so the foot traffic among the wait staff was a bit busy. Otherwise, aces.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Scala WonderfalaLove to stay in Harbor East and pick a dinner stop in Little Italy..............this time it was La Scala. Everything about the place was popular with our group of four. The appetizers, drinks and meals were perfect. No room for dessert.....Would highly recommend.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite Italian restaurant. My favorite Italian restaurant. Always consistent and delicious!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestLa Scala is by far the best resturant in Little Italy. We travel from near the PA line in Baltimore county just to experience this fantastic resturant. The food is always fantastic and the staff is always the best.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOkay italianI would say the pasta that comes with the meal was no better than store bought. Really so disappointed in the pasta. The salad (Caesar) had way way too much dressing as did the artichoke/crab thing. My dude actually commented on the dressing level and he normally puts a lot on. My main entree - soft shell crab with spinach and the veal parmigiana was very good. My friend ordered the dessert which he said was good. Def not the best Italian I've had but pretty darn good. Still sooo disappointed with the clearly store bought pasta that comes with meal.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat foodWe had a good server that had been there for years. He gave good recommendations on food and we had very good service.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Terrazza at La Scala is now openEnjoyed outdoor dining on the newly opened 2nd story terrace. This is our favorite restaurant ... So much so we got married here last year!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMexellent food my favoriteexellent food my favorite place in Little Italy-excellent service - relaxing atmosphere-great wine list. Took friends there because they heard me rave about the restaurant so much and they came out totally agreeing with my opinion of LaScala's they are coming back5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food rocks!Best Italian food in Baltimore. We love going to LaScala for dinner. Had a great meal and the service was outstanding. Will be going again soon:)5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Brodetto alla VasteseThe Brodetto alla Vastese (pot of seafood) for $38.95 is worth the price. Lots of seafood (lobster, big shrimps, clams, mussels, fish, etc) in a borth served over linguini can feed at least 3 people. Risottos are delicious too.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Scala ShinesOur party of six was seated promptly and served a complimentary dish of Itallian style pickled green beans and new potatoes. Very good Italian food can be found within the large menu at La Scala. My sauteed soft shelled crab was wonderful. The grilled Ceasar salad is a unique offering that I now serve on special occasions to surprised guests. The baked dishes seem to be the best choices. They are large portions - suitable for sharing. My pasta puttanesca was also very good. Excellent tiramisu for dessert. Service was quick and efficient. A reliable choice in Baltimore's Little Italy.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNino does it again! We ate at La Scala to celebrate my daughter's college graduation with a party of 8. The food and service were wonderful. The graduate has a gluten allergy, and the restaurant supplied gluten-free pasta as well as a deconstructed chocolate cannoli for her dessert. My other daughter describes the gnocchi as "little pillows of heaven." Everyone enjoyed the salumeria selections and the special grilled caesar salad. The steak with balsamic reduction had just the right tang, all the shrimp dishes were good, and the two veal chop presentations were perfectly grilled. I'm sorry we won't be visiting Baltimore as regularly as we have over the last four years so we can go to La Scala as often.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper NightWe found everything from food to wine excellent. The service was very good and strived to make us feel welcome. The bocce court on the first floor was cool touch to the décor without disrupting the dinners.
Thanks to all our waiter Jose, the Sommelier (didn't get his name) and chef Nino for a great evening!
We will be back!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite!Amazing food and amazing service! My favorite place to eat in little Italy.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceWe had a 7 PM week-night reservation and dined in the upstairs area. The atmosphere was terrific and quiet with a romantic ambiance. Our two waiters did a great job of describing the specials and answering our questions. I had a fabulous sea bass that was served whole and cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her crab and shrimp over pasta dish. We were very pleased and recommend La Scala. An added bonus is that George took us back to our hotel near Camden Yards after dinner.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingGreat food, service and its quiet. I 1st found this place 1 yr ago for my wife's birthday. We both enjoy Italian food and we've gone to several locations in little Italy before and I wanted to surprise her with something new. I made reservations for us, friends and family were there waiting and she had no idea. After that we told a friends/family that were unable to attend that day how good the food was. Several of them have eaten there and now ANYTIME someone says "let's go out to eat" it's 1 of the 1st places suggested. Long as everyone isn't tight on money.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary DinnerExcellent dinner. I indicated on my open table reservation that it was our anniversary. They gave us prosecco and a card which was a really nice touch! Expensive, but great for a special occasion.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely a findThis was our first experience there. The service was fantastic. First in a long while that we were at a restaurant that we didn't feel like the courses came back to back as if to hurry you out of the restaurant. We had an enjoyable, relaxed meal we able to truly enjoy. The food was excellant. The menu had a variety of dishes to choose from and several specialty dishes as well. Will definitely return and would recommend to others5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Little Italy GemLocated in a former row style house the restaurant has multiple levels. We arrived a few minutes late due to Inner Harbor traffic but were seated promptly by the personable host. Menu was solid and not too many surprises, but we were looking for good basic Italian. Daughter and I started with the grilled ceasar salad- awesome. Wife had the house salad and liked it. Daughter went for the Gnocci, she said it was the best she has had and melted in her mouth. Wife had a shrimp special and I had the shrimp cooked in garlic and old bay, both shrimp plates were served with 7 large shrimp perfectly cooked. Very filling. We found the noise towards the loud side but easily conversed at our table.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcomed, Happy and ContentFrom the moment we were greeted at the door we felt welcomed. We had requested to sit at the bar through our opentable reservation and they had two reserved places waiting for us. We ordered our grilled cesear salads from the happy hour menu which is available on sunday nights. I had the Carmenere also from the happy hour menu. very good quality smooth full bodied wine and only 5 bucks a glass. My dad enjoyed his Jameson on the rocks. He had the Veal Chop I had Veal Picatta and Tiramisu was shared for desert.. everything was delicious and so was the bread and extra virgin olive oil served with it.
I would dine here weekly if my pocketbook allowed!!!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply outstanding!!There is one word to describe the food and experience we had at La Scala this weekend in Baltimore: Outstanding!! The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance is wonderful as well. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. We especially enjoyed our post-dinner bocce game :-). I have been to many Italian restaurants and have lived in NYC, Boston and Philadelphia - I cannot remember a better Italian dining experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live in NYC and been toWe live in NYC and been to many Italian restaurants there. This comment is for the open table reservation people- I made a reservation for 6:30 pm and when we arrived at the restaurant they said our reservation was for 7:15. I double checked the email I received from open table and the reservation was indeed for 6:30. Not sure where the mix up occurred, however the restaurant did accomodate us at 6:30. I've made other reservations via open table and not had a problem, however this makes me a little leary for the future. Thank you.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe reserved on Open TableWe reserved on Open Table and noted it to be an aniversary dinner. We were seated at a very private table and upon arrival and seated we were greeted with a very nice card from the owner, Nino,as well as glasses of champagne. The dinner to follow was wonderful making this an evening to remember. Thank you La Scala!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING!!! Love coming hereAMAZING!!! Love coming here because I know it will be a great meal. One of my top picks in the city!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMif was a great experienceif was a great experience me and my queen had a romantic and wonderful time the food was excellent and the services was great4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's good! Capisci? My guest who lives and eats out a lot in San Francisco thought it was very good all the way around. (She and I reserve 5-stars for really grand dining experiences.) The host greeted us warmly and mentioned our Open Table preferences in passing to assure us he had paid attention. The waiter, who made everything happen like it should, was a laconic fellow, but that didn't bother me at all (I'll take that over gratuitously gushing). Water, bread, a little pre-meal nosh, wine -- all flowed smoothly. The entrées were clearly straight off the stove. (We ate them gingerly for the first couple of minutes.) We were there for an early dinner on a Tuesday. I can imagine the space could get noisy on a really busy evening.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Mediterranean SeaExcellent Mediterranean Sea bass and lamb chop. Welcoming service. Look forward to going back when I am in town. George the resturant shuttle driver was great.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it, as did my out-of-townLoved it, as did my out-of-town guests. Great Italian!Sat at the bad and had dinner on April 3rd. One special of the evening was grilled/roasted Branzino. It was the best I've ever had. Started with the grilled Caesar salad. Fantastic! The other half had the grilled Caesar with chicken and a special appetizer of Speck rolled around Buffalo Mozzarella and grilled..simply wonderful! The chef(Nino) even came out to offer a little sample of Romano cheese which went perfect with the nice house bread and dipping oil. To finish we shared a homemade Cannolini with traditonal filling and chocolate filling. They filled up half at each end. Great dining experience. You will not be disappointed!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTop NotchFantastic meal. My family has been to a lot of Italian restaurants all over the world. This place near the top. We loved the indoor bocce ball court. Great service. Grilled ceaser was the best ceaser I have ever had. Atmospher was upscale but still relaxed. No problem bringing our ten year old twins.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my wife here to celebrateI took my wife here to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
