La Scala reviews from OpenTable diners
  • We enjoyed our first visit

We enjoyed our first visit so much, we came again. This was a Fri. night and they were full. They had a large party and most small tables were also full. There was a singer who was good (not great)which raised the noise level for such a small restaurant. It was not too loud, though you could still talk. We had the calamari (excellent),stuffed calamarie (good), and a (large bowl of) lobster bisque with lobster ravioli (unbelievably good). Lasagne (v.good)that had spinach in the ricotta, ravioli in vodka suace (good),and my husband ordered veal parmesan. Unfortunately, the oil was not hot enough and the veal was a little oily still tasty so it gets a good. The food was very reasonable. With a glass of wine it came to $124.

We had reservations for 7:30pm on a Weds. after Labor Day and had the dining area to ourselves (the bar was full). The waiter was amazed that it was so empty. My husband and son had 2 different seafood specials they really enjoyed. I wanted veal and they offered to make it any way I wanted (Veal Frances)The veal and lemon butter were perfectly done. The escargot were very good (they had dry mustard in the spices - different, but good) and the escargot were perfectly done. The service was amazing and we returned on Fri. see post. It was our 40th anniversary and they treated us to a huge serving of tirimasu -YUM.

This is a great old school Italian restaurant that is fabulously "old" Vegas at its finest including a terrific lounge singer doing the classic Sinatra songbook along with all the standards. The food is the Italian you'll recognize with big portions and it tasted great. This is not a place to go if you want to be challenged by your food or want minimalist artistic displays. The stuffed pork chop special was especially good. They will also adjust menu items for you if you have a favorite. Warning: this is way off the strip and delightfully cheaper to cover extra cab fare. It was totally worth the trip and not only will I be back but I will recommend it to friends.

Fabulous food! Fish, pasta, chicken were all excellent. Potions are very generous so bring your appetite. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem!!! Don't let the outside or location keep you away. I guarantee this is a perfect example of "You can not judge a book by it's cover!". LaScala is such a wonderful experience and great alternative to the loud restaurants at the casinos. An added bonus...prices are very reasonable.

This restaurant was recommended to me and it was a great place. They handled our group of 8 without a problem. We had to be out by a certain time to get to a show and this was not a problem either. I highly recommend La Scala! Good food, reasonable prices and great ambiance.

This was our second visit to La Scala. Service is top-notch. The Calamari Fritti is the best that we have had in Vegas. Portion sizes are large-good value. Ambiance is okay. There are other Italian Restaurants that have more ambience-but they lack the service and amazing food that La Scala offers.

Went mostly for the live music - which was excellent - but was extremely impressedd with quality of food (best melt-in-your-mouth Sole I ever tasted)and the hightly friendly & efficient service in a beautifully comfortable atmosphere. Also had an excellent Creme Brule'. Continued to listen to the music after dinner @ the bar where the server was very friendly & professional. I will definitely go back (& take others with me.

The restaurant had excellent reviews and was off the strip and that is why we selected La Scala. We were very pleased that we did for the value, ambiance, service and staff were absolutely the best. The menu was extensive and they even offered to make a dish off the menu if we wanted. The food was served piping hot and the four of us were all very pleased with each of our orders. We look forward for a return visit when back in Vegas..

We never ate here before and went based on what we had read on line. We were very surprised at the quality of the food and the reasonable price. There were four of us and all were very pleased with our food. Three of us had fish (salmon and snapper) and the portion sizes were very good and the quality was excellent. Extremely good value for the reasonable cost. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. I'd go back again.

A nice white tablecloth restaurant not too far from the strip. Service was courteous and efficient. We were with old friends who we had need seen in a while and we lingered there for far longer than an average table would stay. We were made to feel comfortable the whole time, we were never rushed even though we closed the place. The specials menu had mostly fish items, unusual for a traditional Italian restaurant and, in my opinion, a good thing. The veal parmigiana was traditional with a very decent red sauce; not overpowering, the sweetness of the veal was evident through the sauce. A stuffed veal with fontina cheese was excellent, not dried out like many paillard dishes. Great buratta appetizer. Well worth the trip to old time Las Ve

After reading the reviews I was excited to find the place. As the cab pulled up I started to question the decision since it is on the other side of the freeway from the strip at the base of an older, unassuming and plain apartment building. Once we went in the decor was very nice and comfortable. Service was very attentive but not overly done. The food was exceptionally good classic Italian.

La Scala had a nice atmosphere, delicious food, and an impressive wine list. The service was a bit slow but the friendly staff made up for it. The music was a little too loud for our large group, it was hard to hear what was being said across the table, but we managed. We would definitely visit again.

The food was great - I had the veal which was scrumptious. Old school Italian. THe service was horrible. IT was crowded and we had two large tables, but the restaurant knew that many days ahead so they should have staffed up. We had fun though - just had to wait a lot for drinks, food, etc. I recommend it regardless as hopefully the service that night was an anomaly.

The food was very good. The problem came when two parties of 16 came into the restaurant. Although we were there an hour before, the service was slow and then they ranout of the dish my wife had ordered and brought her a substitute, without asking what she would like. The restaurant wasn't very full when we got there so what happened to what she ordered and why did it take an hour to tell us when they were serving the substitute. The waiter tried to make up for it by giving us a bottle of imported wine. Over all the experience was good but 2 1/2 hours for a 3 course dinner is a little long. It proves a small party gets bad service when large parties are in a rest. But, for a place that seats around 65 people 2 waiters are not enough.

I am new to OpenTable and this is my first review of a restaurant. I was in Las Vegas for a trade show and wanted to eat Italian food for dinner. I saw that La Scala had an available table so I booked it. I am glad I did. The food was DELICIOUS, the service was outstanding and the overall experience was great. I ordered eggplant parmesan and my friend ordered stuffed pork. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Its priced right and the food is great! I almost forgot to mention, that the restaurant even arranged to have us brought back to our hotel.

I ate at La Scala this past New Year's Eve 2011. I had an excellent dining experience. The cuisine prepared this restaurant is the best Italian food I've tasted outside of Italy! The seafood dishes I tried tasted fresh, as if it were straight from the Mediterranean. Our server, Brian, was attentive and thoughtful. The small space and dim lighting provided an intimate setting. Combined with the live Sinatra-style singer and pianist, it made for a romantic setting suitable for a meaningful date or event. The price of the food was affordable; the most expensive plate was about $30. Based on taste alone, it seemed like we should be paying twice the amount we paid. I'll be back to La Scala again the next time I'm in Vegas!
