We started with the Aleppo spiced octopus in cannellini beans; it was quite tender, flavorful, and savory. My dining partner had the whole branzino and I had the Zarzuela with a good mix of shellfish. The broth was so good it was all I could do to not drink it. Really excellent, and the branzino was a hit, as well.

Great food! We started w complimentary garlic bread (yum!!) We ordered mussels n octopus for apps, tons mussels, the octopus wasn't much but it was very tender n flavorful. For entree we the branzino (yummy), short ribs (juicy n tender), shrimp fettucine (not lot of shrimp but it was good) and seafood risotto (too creamy for just one person but it was good!) Service was great. A bit pricey but we used a voucher so wasn't bad

three of us had been there last fall and had a delightful and very good dinner. but last week they said they were in process of changing the menu and did not have salads listed so just gave us substitute without informing us. the short ribs were too fatty. not a satisfactory experience for five of us. cant recommend them until they improve.

What a gem! Selected La Rosetta almost entirely because it was conveniently located, and seemed to have good reviews for food and atmosphere conducive to conversation. It turned out to be a real find, and I was lauded for discovering a great place. The staff was friendly, helpful, and seemed personally committed to the quality and success of the restaurant. We shared a variety of dishes, and all were great. I was particularly impressed by the tofu entree, which I probably never would have ordered otherwise--it is FANTASTIC--crispy cubes of tofu with broccolini in a slightly spicy/slightly sweet, Asian-influenced sauce. I've never had anything like it. La Rosetta will surely be on my list of recommendations now!

Pleasant atmosphere & well laid out with tables spread out . So nice to find a restaurant where the tables aren't on top of each other. Delicious bread, we couldn't stop eating it. The seafood was very fresh & the meat eaters were very happy too. Great entree selections including for vegetarians . Friendly attentive service. It was our first time at the restaurant & we will return .

It was our first time dining here and we had a great meal. We started at the bar with a glass of wine (Ashley the bartender was very friendly and accommodating). We later sat exactly on time (as per our reservation) and were greeted by a friendly wait staff. The person who took our order was Alex and he did a great job explaining the menu to us. Our food came out on time and was excellent; I would definitely go back again!

Celebrated my mother's 50th birthday for dinner at LaRosetta... one word - EXCEPTIONAL! Our waiter Alex was very attentive and made sure my mother (and everyone else at the table) was taken care of and satisfied. The entire staff was super friendly, to an extent where I can't remember when was the last time I received this type of service. The food was outstanding, beautiful presentation and the chef even came to our table to greet us. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and great service. I will definitely be coming back to LaRosetta very soon.

We picked this restaurant because they had a brunch menu on open table. Unfortunately when we arrived a brunch menu was nowhere to be found. They also advertised a lot of drink specials and these were nowhere to be found. The food was not bad, but it was nothing special either. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. During the entire meal that had two other tables show up in total. I certainly wouldn't go back, but not because it was bad, just because it was nothing special.

My fiancee discovered La Rosetta Cucina Mediterranea when it was featured on a popular morning news show, recently. So I decided to surprise her by taking her here for an intimate, late dinner. We were both very pleasantly pleased and surprised with the cuisine, the service, and the ambiance. This is a very quaint, cosy and romantic spot and we had an excellent time. The food is excellent! And the staff is very friendly and relaxed, and not to intrusive as with many restaurants.

My friends and I dined on Valentine day and we really enjoyed La Rosetta. our server was very attentive to our need even though they where quit busy. We enjoyed our drinks, our Buratta salad and the calamari to start. Our main courses took a little bite long but our waiter informed us that it was going to be with worth the wait. The salmon, branzino and the short ribs where well seasoned and cooked well. We finished our meal with great deserts and complimentary chocolate covered strawberries. We will definitely return soon.

We were seated more or less halfway into the restaurant and, since it took almost 2 hours for our main course to arrive we began staff-watching. The number of waiters and busboys rushing back and forth carrying nothing was...puzzling. And we still can't figure out what the heck our waiter was doing over by the service station video console that is visible from half the tables in the front room. Playing a computer game, maybe? Certainly not explaining the delay or bringing our wine (which unbelievably arrived well after the very delayed food). Good thing the bread was tasty and the water was refilled! They did give us an extra bottle of wine to make amends, but I would hesitate to go back.

horrible service. spent about 3 1/2 hours at the restaurant waiting for our meals and didnt even get our full meal. i drank more water then eatting at this restaurant. took forever for any meal to come and once it did you should just eat extremely slow so you dont just sit there with a cup of water til the next meal is served. my girlfriend dish comes out and its wrong after waiting over a hour for it and then she cancel the meal for dessert and still gets wrong. i dont know how you can even mess up dessert but they can. i coulda written more but there a character limit on this, but i would recommend mcdonalds service over this place. thanks for ruining my valentine day dinner with my girl. worst choice ever to go have a date.

  • Overbooked on Valentine's Day

    Dined on 2/14/2014
One bad night does not a bad restaurant make, & it's not unusual for new restaurants to overbook on a holiday. They overbooked Valentine's Day, & the kitchen and wait staff clearly couldn't handle it. We spent the whole time trying to get someone's attention, waiting for food, for anything; finally had to leave before mains came to make a late music event. But they charged us for our apps. & a bottle we didn't really order & didn't get to drink; left $100 poorer & hungry (at that point, no time to discuss; we paid and ran). Saw another table leave for the same reason. The is restaurant seems to have great potential, and I'm sympathetic to them being on a learning curve; I hope they've learned from that experience and are doing better now.

The bad: - one of the sauces served with the appetizers was Trader Joe's Sweet Chili Sauce. - frying calamari is an art they have not mastered, whoever ate undercooked calamari knows what I mean. - the beef brisket was rather cold and so fat it was almost bacon, I gagged several times and left about a third of it on the plate after trying to carve around the fat. The good: - the garlic mashed potato was amazing. - the tiramisu was fresh. - the staff was friendly, professional (albeit overenthusiastic about the quality of food). For a supposedly famous chef, it has been a very lousy meal.

Living on the next block, I have passed this space many times over the years, and it has never had a successful tenant. I had low expectations when I saw another Italian restaurant coming in, but I was wrong. Food and service were excellent, at least what we experienced (linguine with clam sauce, roasted chicken). On the other hand, restaurant was empty except for us, and no one came on a very cold winter night until we were leaving (whereas Coppelia, just down the block, was mobbed, people waiting). Prices could be a bit lower, but not unreasonable for this area, where rents are outrageous. If you're looking for a solid neighborhood Italian restaurant, give La Rosetta a try, and it is nice to be able to talk to your friend without shouting

Good food but unfortunately the wine I ordered smelled like it had gone bad and did not taste like what its supposed to (a Sangiovese??) as described by the waiter. As I was not shown a bottle and was just handed a glass already poured, I'm inclined to think that they just whipped something up last minute....maybe best to order a bottle if going with a crowd. Was disappointed with that, otherwise good experience.

We had a wonderful meal at La Rosetta. It's a great fish-centric menu, and we were impressed with the food, even though we ordered rather conservatively. (The fried calamari was as good as any we've ever had, with two imaginative and wisely chosen dipping sauces.) We were there when it was below 10 degrees outside, so perhaps the restaurant will be noisier next time. The service was terrific. Everyone who waited on us was attentive and friendly, without being overbearing, pretentious or fawning. We expect to be back often.

The food was good, but there was a burning scent in the restaurant. It was pretty strong. The kitchen appears to be in the basement, but they need to improve ventilation. There was also a prep station right near the bar, in open view by patrons. Gave the place a less than elegant appearance.

They had a prix fixe 4 course menu. The first course was lovely- great grilled octopus. The second was OK- but then the timing got off. We waited abit long between courses and by the time we got entrees - the prime rib was cold and average and the Bacallao was a bit overcooked with wilted garnish - as if they sat too long before serving. It was a holiday and they were full but the entree should be the Piece de Resistance. They were out of several desserts we wanted. Overall it was OK- and it was good to see the owner at the end of the night up front behind the bar tending to a group of patrons.

I went there with some girlfriends on Christmas Eve, and what a memorable experience. We were a little late for our reserved time, but instead of giving us a hard time, we were greeted with professional, happy service, and upgraded to a better table. It was very crowded, but in a good way, there was a nice buzz going in the room, and the restaurant was well staffed. It seemed like the waiters were actually happy to be serving you.... Wait, am I still in NYC? The food was great - don't forego the crispy bread appetizers, they are to die for. We were the last ones to leave, and instead of rushing us along and being annoyed, the owner bought us an after dinner drink. I would definitely go back there and highly recommend it!
