La ProvenceRomantic DiningThe Cornmeal Oyster Salad and the Wild Boar Pinwheel Ravioli were nothing if not inspired. The restaurant has a full bar and an excellent wine selection. We were surprised to find that there were no 'House designed' cocktails nor any suggested pairings of cocktails/wine with food selections. My wife was thrilled with her Lamb platter which brought a multitude of subtle flavors and generous portions that paired nicely with the classic fresh french style dish.
The seared tuna however seemed overpowered by the specialty pesto sauce and the generous helpings of cilantro. I must admit I was wishing for something more akin to a pairing like a Wasabi Mashed potato than the almost salad like base to this entree. When friends came to visit from Pennsylvania I decided that this would be a good occassion to try the restaurant. We were not disappointed! I especially enjoyed the Oyster and Artichoke salad and I thought the Aritchoke soup was exceptional. I wish we'd gotten there a little earlier so we could have wandered out to look at the farm. This is not a restaurant I could afford for regular dining, but I will definately be back for special occassions. However the Oysters ooo-la-la had a distinct fish taste. Oysters should taste like oysters; they should not taste like fish. I enjoyed the fired red fish. I ordered it by mistake because I don't eat fired foods. However, the fish was so lite and flakey that I really enjoyed it. The day was perfectly relaxed and the dining experience was superb! The menu offerings were, as always, difficult to narrow to one. We selected a variety to feast on and we were delighted with out selections. We also ventured to the rear of the property to visit with the pigs. It was an orverall enjoyable experience! Pretty sure they grow/raise a lot of what you eat on the premises. Compact and beautiful bar with a large selection of great wine. Chose duck and asked the waiter to help me select a wine. He was knowledgeable and together we picked the perfect complement to my entree. Service was great, and food was extremely well presented and prepared. We were all tasting each others food when the hostess came over to see how we were doing. I thought she would scold us for sharing, but instead she commented that she wished all the diners would do the same! All in all a fabulous experience. John Besh is a familiar person down here and he cares about the area and the quality of the product he serves, so we had to check it out. We especially enjoyed the quail gumbo, what a treat! My wife had the tuna which was fabulous(cooked perfectly) and I had the duck that melted in your mouth.
The decor was very nice and the service was exceptional. Everyone was very attentive and if you asked for anything it was there in a split second.
Worth every nickel!

My wife and I came to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We made the reservations on line it was so simple and when we arrived they were ready for us.
The wait staff is very good and very knowledgeable of the wine list and menu. They are very pleasant and not pushy or hovering.
When our desserts came they had lit a candle on each of our plates and they wished us happy anniversary.
This is our 5 or 6 time coming to La Provence and we plan on going back my more times. Almost a shame to eat! After dinner which we paired with wine from their reasonable wine list, we had dessert. If you haven't been here, it's worth going just for the Bacon & Pecan Ice Cream!
