Diner Reviews
  • "On a corner on Magazin St -- a slice of the old country, with creative food and a great atmosphere..."
    Dined on 8/24/2014
  • "You must try the crab beignets, fried green tomatoes, spaghetti with crab, short ribs and any vegetable special of the day."
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "I didn't come for the burger, but so glad I did! Absolutely the best burger ever! Loved the ambiance. We had a table right at window, so it was great to people watch! Place was packed but we could still hear each other even though next to bar! Very attentive staff with out feeling like they were hovering!"

  • "A favorite! Food a service are excellent....always something new, exciting and delicious on the menu. This resturant always seems one step ahead of everyone else."

  • "Brought our daughter to Tulane for her freshman year and wanted to have a special family meal before we headed back to Chicago. La Petite Grocery was absolutely the best choice. From the well crafted cocktails to locally reflected appetizers and entrees, we completely enjoyed our experience. The service could not have been more accommodating and gracious. Even with a snafu in the kitchen (we ordered the shrimp and grits without bacon and we were served the dishes with bacon), the staff certainly impressed us. The manager immediately came to the table to apologize, a delicious amuse bouche arrived at our table (meat free!), and the kitchen remade each of the shrimp and grits meals. Enjoy La Petite Grocery for an incredible dining experience!"

  • "This was my first time there. The blue crab beignets and sauteed shrimp with trumpet mushrooms and poached egg appetizers were wonderful and enough to split between our group. My entrée was the rabbit and was delicious! Had a bottle of pink champagne for my birthday celebration. My only surprise was that although I had written that it was a birthday celebration when I made the reservation, it was NOT acknowledged in any way on the day. A little disappointing."

  • "La Petite Grocery has become our "go to" restaurant in Uptown. It is fine dining with a lovely but casual ambiance. Food and service are always great. The crab beignets are one of the best bites in N.O."

  • "LPG is a really enjoyable place to dine, although I think the brunch I've had in the past was better than the lunch I had this past weekend. There aren't a ton of lunch specials or selections to choose from, and the price point is pretty steep for lunch fare, but the drink specials are always tasty and I really love the ambiance. I like this place more than most other high end places I've dined in NOLA, such as Geautreau's."

  • "Ordered daily special coconut and sweet corn soup, hamburger and fries. All excellent as usual. Wife had daily special bean and pea salad which was very good. She ordered two appetizers for lunch, the blue crab beignets and pasta with crabmeat. We finished with the roasted peach dessert. Everything was shared. Service was helpful, prompt, pleasant and professional. Pricing was very reasonable. Gated parking was very convenient across the street. As usual, the visit was very enjoyable...perhaps our fifth."

  • "Everything was absolutely perfect! The server was very pleasant and knowledgeable in food and in wine pairing. The food was absolutely divine ( Compliments to the chef!). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone who has an adventurous foody-spirit, but enjoys a wholesome pure taste."

  • "Variety of good entrees, changing desserts, little or no silly cute food. Good parking. Very accommodating staff."

  • "I have been going to La Petite at least once a month since the first time I dined here. The food is consistently flawless. I try and order something new every time but the octopus salad, truffle bread pudding, and macaroni and cheese are always on my list to order. I have only made it to dessert twice (due to ordering 4 small plates and entrees...always) but it is as complex and delicious as the main menu. This particular time dining was the only time things were not completely perfect (by their normal standards). The wait staff did not seem ready for the amount of people dining at 6:30. It took a half hour before our order was taken, 45 minutes for a drink (could have gone up to the bar I guess), and on and on. Not normal for here."

  • "As if the crab beignets weren't enough we had a delightful lemon fish crudo and Bibb salad for lunch...Accompanied by great service and I geeked out over the warm cream for my coffee which is not often done but oh so lovely when it is! Thank you for a wonderful experience ! We will be back!"

  • "We were blown away by Chef Devillier's menu. We had compressed watermelon with finger lime, sea salt and mint. Followed by blue crab beignets and braised short rib. Amazing. I had the turtle with homemade pasta and my wife had the paneed rabbit. We finished with coriander ice cream puffs. We can't wait to go back."

  • "It's beautiful and one of my go-to places. Usually get special service but on this night I had to ask our server to clear the plates-- twice. I was told Justin was "in house" but not in the kitchen. Food ran the gamut that night. Ricotta dumplings-- needed salt and cayenne Bibb lettuce-- winner Saffron Fettuccini--good flavor but swimming in sauce Fish special- Red Grouper got good reviews Cauliflower soup-- apparently good-- she licked the bowl clean without offering a taste"

  • "Delicious burger but crabmeat was the best. Great atmosphere."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "Short on time, we ordered from the appetizer menu. The most amazing food. Not a big menu selection but the offerings were amazing! Crab beignets were wonderful! Desserts were out of this world. Can't wait to go back for Sunday brunch and try the Bloody Mary with poached shrimp and blue crab claw! Great special occasion spot. For this spot to win our vote for best food with all the choices in New Orleans, that says a lot!"

  • "I got turned onto LPG about two years ago by a local foodie friend and she couldn't have been more correct. The menu is always a mix of eclectic / classic-with-a-twist. My first time there (2yrs ago) I had alligator Bolognese, this weekend I had braised lamb shank. Both were killer. This was my fourth time here and I will come back every time I'm in N'Awlins just to sit at the bar and talk to Julia and take advantage of her deadly accuracy when it comes to suggestions for dishes and wine pairings. This weekend I was on a date and sat at a table and was literally paralyzed in terms of decision making on what to order without Julia's guidance, so I left my date to go say hello and ask for guidance. The lamb shank and Château du Paz.<3"

  • "the last several visits here have been fantastic. New Orleans has many great restaurants, but all go thru up and down cycles. La Petite Grocery is on an up cycle. The food is fantastic. Cocktails, appetizers, entrees, specials are all great. They even have parking if you ask. We will continue to go back as long as the quality of the food is great. Go now while it is in its prime. This is a special place at present."

  • "The food was outstanding though the service was inconsistent - had to ask for bread, water refiles, etc multiple times and our server would "disappear" from time to time."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "My husband and I enjoyed our evening. It is a very quant, intimate bistro type setting. The menu is a little bit more limited than I thought it would be -- BUT -- they had quite a few specials to add to it, as well. We had the beef tenderloin and is was tender and delicious. All of the wait staff was super friendly, as well."

  • "My husband's first time in New Orleans and a great place for adults to have a great dinner without kids. Our server Jane was cute and professional. Her recommendations of the burger and blue crab beignets was perfect! Food was devine, hot and all staff was friendly!"

  • "Amazing dinner to celebrate our anniversary. You would think to not get a burger at a fine dining restaurant...it was amazing! And the beef short rib appetizer is to die for. The lamb chop was superb as well. Great dinner and can't wait to go back!"

  • "We had a bad, bizarre experience several weeks ago. Our server was late to the table, and so another server eventually greeted us and got us going; she was lovely. When our server eventually got to us he was unprofessional and, for some reason, seemed to take a dislike to us. At a neighbor's table he was gracious and loquacious; however our food was rushed, his speech monosyllabic, his demeanor unpleasant. It was especially unfortunate as it was a big anniversary dinner for us (as we made clear when reserving). We were left imagining how wonderful the night would have been if only the young lady who took our drink order could have managed our evening."
