The location, food and service were excellent on a recent Tuesday evening. We loved the food, and the ambiance was very pleasant, though the main room was noisy. We sat by the window and it was better there. Among the specialties: beef hors d'oeuvre, rabbit main dish, yummy grits, great fries, superb pasta, fantastic light cheesecake. Highly recommended!

Went to La Petite this week and the food overall was good. Crab beignets were great. My aunt and I had the filet, both cooked perfectly. My dad and wife had the panne rabbit and it was delicious. My mom had the turtle Bolognese and said it was 'just ok'. My cousin had the seafood stew which was not very good. Broth was bitter and the shrimp were underdone. Prices were moderate to expensive and for the price I have eaten at better N.O. restaurants. My parents asked the waiter to split the bill before we ate and the bill was all-inclusive. Our waiter was condescending and rude and his service was extremely slow. Gratuities are added for parties of 6 or more which is ridiculous (I could see 10 or more). Overall good but not spectacular.

This was our pick for our "nice dinner" out, and it didn't disappoint. For appetizers we had braised ribs, gulf shrimp with roasted pork belly, and the blue crab beignets. All were delicious but the crab beignets were incredible. If you can only have 1 appetizer pick it. Entrees were also outstanding. We sampled the seafood stew, a daily special of seared grouper with lentils and wilted green, and the fried pork loin. Ambiance was great, not too noisy, staff attentive and accomodating. I highly recommend.

I had two out-of-town guests who wanted to see a neighborhood restaurant, and La Petite is always a reliable choice for dinner. We had an early reservation because they had an early morning conference session the next day. We were nearly alone in the place for about 45 minutes which made the inattentive service a little difficult to fathom. But the food (crab beignets, shrimp and grits, butterscotch pudding) was excellent, as usual. The noise level is typical New Orleans neighborhood level as soon as the place fills up, though, so go early if you want to talk.

Tbe food was spectacular. My group tends to order many different things to try and thus time was no different. Wr were all so impressed, but what lacked was the service. As the waiter didn't understand why we ordered bread for the mussels or in an effort to save time, we should order wine immediately. We will go back again, but not be served by the waiter, who generously received 20% tip from our host.....others, like myself would have given him much les

Now I know why its hard to get a reservation. I have to say that Le Petite was extraordinary. We were greeted by a very courteous and friendly hostess who escorted us to our table and provided a wonderful menu offering options for every taste - the beginning to a splendid evening. The food was superb - quite possibly the very best sirloin I've ever enjoyed; cooked to perfection it's fair to say it (almost) melted in my mouth. Very reasonably priced, terrific service from Martha and our water glasses never emptied. A wonderful place to eat and enjoy the company of another.

It was ok, but absolutely nothing special at all. The waiter had an attitude, and didn't really know the menu. The crab beignet everyone raves about was the best, but I had the turtle pasta and it was quite bad. We spent $50 just in cab fare from the French quarter and there are so many other great restaurants, I won't be back at this one.

It starts with the simple decor, featuring pictures of the old grocery and tables far enough apart that you don't feel pinched in between your neighbors. The bar offers a variety of wines by the glass and a solid wine list, but start with one of the intriguing cocktails. The menu is short but covers the gamut and the daily specials are posted on a chalk board on the back wall. The wonderful deserts include new takes on old stand-bys like creme brûlée but the specials were well-worth branching out for. Delicious food, well prepared. Well worth another visit!

An outstanding restaurant experience from the first hello to the last bite of dessert. Our server, Martha, was gracious and exceptionally well informed about the menu. The Blue Crab Beignets are so good I want the recipe. While I think the Fried Green Tomato with Burrata was a bit pricey, it was, nevertheless, delicious. We enjoyed the locally sourced Soft Shell Crab as our entree (a whale in size and scrumptious). Finally, if you want a lovely and not too filling dessert, go for the Satsuma Cake with Lemon Verbena ice cream - a winner on every level.

Wonderful dinner with an old friend. Our table for 2 was by the window which was fun for people watching on Magazine Street. There was plenty of room and despite being by the bar, it was not too noisy for conversation. The crab beignets live up to the reviews. Our glasses of pinot grigio were generous. My shrimp and grits was very good, as was my friend's steak. This would be a great place for a date.

We're semi regulars at LPG and this was our most disappointing meal. Apps were good - crabmeat beignets, grilled octopus and sautéed peppers. Entrees were less so. Two of us had grilled grouper and it was ok but their portions are getting increasingly smaller. My wife got fried soft shell crab and it was awful. Too much batter and soggy. We'll take our time returning.

We were looking for a "good" restaruant close to - and hopefully with walking distance of - Tipitana's. La Petite Grocery was that place. Ambiance is great. Soft lights, comfortable spacing (you're not on top of one another), high ceilings. While we didn't have a drink at the bar, it seemed to be a pleasant place to enjoy a cocktail. Arriving for an early dinner reservation (6pm), the bar seemed to have some after work regulars. Seemed fun...try one of their curated cocktails. At dinner we enjoyed a Bee's Knees (gin) and a Wry Smile (rye). As for the food - amazing. Since this was ou first time, we went classic: Fried Green Tomatoes, Blue Crab Beignets, then Gulf Shrimp&Grits and Hand Made Pappardelle. Not a complaint. Best BEIGNETS

La Petite Grocery was a great find for us- we love to eat in New Orleans and find new places to go. We loved everything about this restaurant- the ambiance, the food, the on point service, and the building/location itself. Every item of our meal was delicious. I don't even like carrot cake and the carrot cake was delicious! I would recommend the crab beignets, shrimp and grits, and pickle jar. The attention to detail is notable- when I ordered coffee, the milk that came with it was warmed. Even Ralphs on the Park does not do that for their coffee service. I was very impressed. We will go back very soon- it was hands down one of the best meals we have ever had in New Orleans!

We chose this restaurant for its great reviews for my special birthday dinner. The menu online doesn't even touch all the choices when all the nightly specials are factored in. Chef uses freshest of local available foods to supplement his normal fare. Amazing choices with fine flavor to tickle any foodie's fancy! From blue crab beignets to fresh soft shell crabs to cardamom cheesecake with satsuma sauce, you will not be disappointed with this lovely restaurant. We enjoyed our window to Magazine street with its evening hustle and bustle. Our waiter Wade was attentive and knowledgeable. We will return soon.

The food was very good, but the portions were somewhat small. The comment at my table is that is why it was named "La Petite". Our server was very nice, but was somewhat slow. The food was slow to arrive, but also she seemed distracted with other tables. The restaurant was highly rated and the chef was a participant on Top Chef, so the expectations were high. We asked for a cab, which took forever to arrive. While that is not their fault, it would seem that they would have a relationship with the cabs to take care of their patrons. My party was not satisfied. We will not be back.

We're huge fans of "Top Chef" and had to make a pilgrimage to this restaurant, operated by Justin Devillier from the New Orleans season of the show. We were staying in the French Quarter and were so glad the restaurant gave us an excuse to take the St. Charles streetcar out to the Garden District. It was definitely worth trip -- brunch was delicious! We particularly enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and crab beignets.
