Excellent service - highly attentive yet not intrusive. Complementary autumn ravioli a surprise and delightful. I had the lamb chop special - absolutely delicious - perfectly prepared. Staff were all so pleasant and welcoming. Chef came out to check on us and take desert order. Super convenient parking across street and wine shop 1 block away for BYOB service. Excited to return soon.

It was our first time here and will be our last. First of all it was a very cold night and the front door keeps opening which lets all the cold air in and if you are sitting anywhere near the front of the restaurant its freezing, so much that they have space heaters in front of the reception desk. If you go be sure to request a table in back if it is winter. When you enter there is no where to really wait when its crowded so people are standing all around you while you are eating. Poor design. The place has tons of lights in the ceiling yet they keep them all off! Its so dark, you cannot see anything, it feels like the power went out, its really ridiculous to have everyone using flashlights on their cell phone to read the menus. The Maître D' was RUDE! There were two of us sitting at a 4 top table. My wife's purse, glasses and scarf were on one of the chairs, he came over to take the chair for another table, didn't say one word or even ask if we minded and took her stuff off and threw it on our table and took the chair without a word. Next he was at the table next to us and needed pepper which I guess that table didn't have on it and ours did, he reaches back to our table, again not a word, reaches across both of us and grabs the pepper mill, then just slams it back on our table when done and walks away. Last we got our appetizers quickly then 40 minutes later still no entrée so I ask him where our food is, he tells me they had to go in the basement for my veal parm, and it is being prepared to perfection, first of all what did the basement have to do with anything! and I would hope every meal is prepared to perfection and doesn't take 40 minutes! So in the end, the food was good, even my 40 minute veal parm, but there are so many places right in that area that are so much better and treat customers with respect. Had the maître d not been so rude and condescending, my review would have been nice place, good food, not great but good, very loud and dark.

We were a group of 10 people all enjoying our first time at La Pergola. This was one of the best meals we have had. The ambience was terrific and the staff went above and beyond to make it a wonderful night for all of us. The food was spectacular and the choices were plentiful. We are definitely going back.

This was my first time at La Pergola, so I don't know whether it was an anomaly. We were not served until fully an hour and a half after we first arrived, and two of our dishes had spent time in a heating device and tasted like it. We had multiple different waiters. Plus, the room was freezing. The dining room was full to capacity, so it seems to be a popular local place. They may have been suffering a disaster in the kitchen? I don't know, but whatever the problem was should have been communicated by management, and they were no where in sight.

Even though we made reservations, it seemed the restaurant didnt get notified until 2 hours after our reservations. But, they still got us in... a table for 10 at 8pm on a Saturday night, and they were packed... but they got us in. The service was outstanding, and I can't thank the manager enough for getting us a table. The food was very good.... not quite perfect, but definitely will have me looking them up the next time i'm in town. It's a BYOB place, which is a bit odd for that level of place, but it worked out just fine. Nice selection of choices and the pasta was very fresh / homemade. With 10 people, and a packed place, it wasn't exactly 'quick eats', but the staff was outstanding...

La Pergola is terrific both in terms of food and service. The owner is a visible presence, greeting diners and ensuring that everything is perfect. The place has a warm local feel to it, the food is delicious, and the team of servers works subtly but efficiently to provide perfect service. Even better, it's in a great location, close to the train and to Paper Mill Playhouse.

Dinner at La Pergola is outstanding! My daughter had the most delicious sweet potato raviolis in a brown butter sauce that I have ever tasted. My dinner was also great. I had the homemade lasagne that was made with the perfect blend of a tomato and bechamel sauce. The service was very good and the food came out in a timely manner. I love that the restaurant is a BYOB, but if you've forgotten your wine, they can call and have some delivered. A wonderful evening!

We had outstanding service from start to finish. Warm waiter and owner made us feel extremely comfortable. Atmosphere from entire wait staff was engaging, always helpful and extremely prompt. The food was delicious with ample specials and regular menu items which provided a diverse selection. My wife and mom had equally positive things to boast about the restaurant which we've already shared with friends and family. It was a wonderful evening and compliments to the owners who have made this a choice spot and earned a repeat visit when we come from the New England area visiting our family. I can't wait to return!!

La Pergola provided a nice alternative to Basilico, which often has no reservations available at reasonable dinner times. The food was quite good, although entrees were a little pricey. Bruschetta on the house was a nice touch and the bread was great. Homemade pasta was excellent. Ambience was quietly nice and the service was good. We'd go back.

This is our second visit and again, the food was very good. The homemade pasta was perfect and the vegetables, meat and seasoning was just right. I wish the service was better. Perhaps they were just short of staff. Waiters were running around and looking harried. We had to wait too long for simple requests - like water. We will go back, hoping for a better experience.

This was our second visit to La Pergola. Everything was delicious. It was a group & we ordered different things & everyone was very happy with their selections. A special of grilled sardines was a standout, as was the halibut & grouper. The pork chop was so good it was gnawed to the last bit! Pastas are freshly made with care. We were pretty full, so didn't order many desserts, but the lemon torte was great! We were celebrating our mother's 80th bday & the servers couldn't have been more gracious & friendly! It's BYO, which we particularly like. We loved it & shall be back!
