La PanetiereThis was a great find as we'dThis was a great find as we'd not been here before. We had an absolutey lovely evening here. The food was simply delicious. My husband (who dines in many fine restaurants) said it was one of the best meals he has ever eaten. The service was attentive, prompt and discreet. My only ctiticism is that the decor is a bit quirky and dated. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend La Panetiere to anyone looking for a special restaurant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery delicious food and topVery delicious food and top notch service. We used a group on. There were many courses and they were all well prepared. However, if you are a big eater, note that the portions are small. That worked for us, but may not work for everyone.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulThe food is delicious and the service is very professional. They make you feel right at home and comfortable. It is a pleasure to dine at this special restaurant.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA beautiful nightProfessional and friendly service. Beautiful room. Unfortunately the food was good but did not match the excellent service or decor.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMReturned after Long Time AwayMy issue at this restaurant is that I never can find anything on the menu that I particularly want to eat, despite the storied reputation of the place and the fact that there are no bad meals there. Ended up having Dover sole by default. It turned out to be the best I ever had anywhere that I remember, served with some kind of cauliflower preparation over the top. Before that, I had a salad that was wonderful, and before that, a soup was brought which I had to refuse because I do not eat lobster. It was immediately replaced by an eggplant soup that was delicious.
One odd note for Open Table users -- available times were quite limited for that Thursday evening. But when we got there, there was plenty of room for the entire evening.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's BackWe finally returned to La Panetiere after several years and were thrilled to find it had returned to it's oroginal splendor. This was a favorite of my families for special occasions but about 10 years back something changed and the quality was not up to par. After being away we decided to give a another chance not only was the food back to the splendor we rememeber so was Albert the best Maitre 'd of all time (he returned about 8 years ago). Wish we had known we would have gone back sooner.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI always look forward andI always look forward and enjoy going to La Panetiere....great food, good service, very welcoming and lovely decor.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance was great andThe ambiance was great and the food was even better. A great place for that special occasion.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantFood was excellent!!!, atmosphere was quiet and nice light was ok. Needs more space between table though.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a reliable specialThis is a reliable special occasion restaurant that delivers predictably good, but not adventurous, food in a comfortably genteel atmposhere.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious meal, excellent value...Excellent lunch for a special occasion. Comte souffle was light and delicately flavored with pea coulis. Snapper perfectly cooked and artichokes three ways was subtle and delicious. (Puree, barigoule, shaved salad.) And the black currant (cassis) charlotte was divine, along with verbena ice cream. Nothing ordinary about this very enjoyable meal at the unbelievably reasonable prix fixe of $32.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe got there early with twoWe got there early with two kids. No problem at all. Best salad I've ever had. appetizer was crab and avocado. Best crab I've ever had. We had wines by glass, very good cab and syrah for the money. I only looked at Rhone wines by the bottle. They were more than fairly priced. Service was exceptional. When was the last time you went to a restaurant and had two dishes that you eat frequently that are the best you've ever had??4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent butThe food was excellent but the staff was impersonal and mechanical. Still, an above ordinary experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth my wife and I had gastrointestBoth my wife and I had gastrointestinal difficulties soon after eating. Perhaps due to the duck confit?
Otherwise outstanding! Would go again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll be back! This is the second time we have been here. We love it. The corn/tomato soup was a feast for the eye and the palate. I had lamb shank which was a tender as butter. The service is very attentive but not at all obtrusive. The decor is simple and has the feel of a farmhouse We have gone both times with Groupons and had a good choice of dishes - not exactly the same each time. There is an extensive wine list (although we didn't order wine). Tables are a bit close together, but the restaurant is not excessively noisy even when full. Definitely a special occasion place! So if you have a special person in your life this is a place to share with him/her.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous ExperienceThe food and service at this establishment were nothing less than first-rate! The staff really goes out of its way to create a warm and comfortable experience in what is a beautiful country-French setting. Dishes are meticulously prepared -- make sure to try the soufflés!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a Groupon, the menuWe had a Groupon, the menu had a lot of good choices, so it made it hard to pick what you wanted to eat.
We had the salad, the seafood pasta that was really good, the fish was fresh and the pasta was cooked to perfection.
The beef medallions was just as good.

Really comfortable and pleasant.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMy family and I went for anMy family and I went for an Easter lunch - the food was perfect, and the service couldn't have been better.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMProvence in Rye, NYTwenty-eight years ago Jacques Loupiac created a Provencal oasis in Rye, NY. It is a delight to be there. The cuisine is a modern interpretation of classic French from the south of France. the staff is warm but professional, wanting only to please and to assure that you and your party will enjoy the experience there. Try the lobster casserole, the oysters with leeks and beurre blanc, the comte soufflé, the rack of lamb, the venison and the country pate. Dover sole is fileted at tableside.
The only thing which could be improved is the décor. In an effort to modernize, Jacques painted over the wonderful trompe l'oeil murals, changed the sconces and put up squares of fabric instead of art. It does not work and comes across as tacky.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen there few times. FoodBeen there few times. Food is always amazing! Services and atmosphere is excellent! Service immensely knowledgeable, friendly without cloying, and accommodating. This one is a keeper.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful evening at La PanetiereI visited this restaurant for the first time during Mid-Hudson restaurant week. The restaurant has valet parking and coat check, which I always use if available. The decor is tasteful French, country and elegant. Everything they offered on the restaurant week menu was excellent, but I love, love, love the service. It's the kind that you don't see anyone hovering over you except when you need them, which they seem to know instinctively. Our waiter was engaging and informative about the wine list and the menu. Home made bread was always available, and the water glasses never were empty before being refilled. Our wine was always poured for us. I will be back to sample something delicious from the full menu soon.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy group of four were thereMy group of four were there to celebrate my Friend Diane's birthday. None of us had been there before, but had always wanted to.
