Diner Reviews
  • "We ordered four different tapas. Each dish was delicious. The lamb skewers were succulent. The grilled calamari was grilled perfectly. The shrimp with bacon was very flavorful. The chorizo empanada was savory, not at all greasy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who loves a tapas menu."

  • "The grilled calamari, grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon & the grilled rib eye are always good. Also try the tres leches cake. It's not too sweet. The sangria is also very good. It's a perfect for when you just want to have small plates. The service is very friendly and they don't rush you, even on a Saturday night."

  • "Food is good, affordable, but the place can get very noisy. The tables are very close together and the ceiling is quite low. If you don't mind the noise and are not going there to have a nice conversation with whoever you are with the place is great."

  • "Ordered the Ham & Cheese Croquettas and the Basque Paella. Both were delicious, servers were very attentive without being invasive, and the price was quite reasonable. I think the check came to $50 for the paella and the app, and we had enough leftovers for lunch the next day."

  • "La Paella is not a destination restaurant, but it is a good neighborhood option. If you have a big appetite, you'll need to get an appetizer as well as the paella."

  • "Took my Valentine for a surprise treat. Seafood Paella well-prepared and generous serving. Tres leche cake moist and tasty. Great evening!"

  • "La Paella is a cute spot. The sangria was good, and I had a pleasant evening, but the food was a miss. Every one of the the tapas dishes I had was mediocre and bland, though it was all edible. But for the price I expect better; I'll be in no rush to return."

  • "The most notable aspect of the restaurant was the friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was merely so-so. Other couple seemed to enjoy their paella, so maybe that was the way to go? I do recommend the stuffed peppers. The wine list was ok, and relatively well priced for bottle service."

  • "The food was very good. We ordered grilled octopus, mussels and a paella. Everything was delicious...Including the sangria...Best I've ever had."

  • "great spot for a group of people or just two, order most if not all the tapas and a pitcher of sangria and ull be all set"

  • "It was my first visit to La Pella and I was surpassed just by how amazing the food is! We did order bottles of sangria and the white one is really more like juice while the red one was yummy, but perhaps a little too strong for sangria. I think once they balance out their sangrias the place would be perfect."

  • "I've been to La Paella a number of times in the past, and always enjoyed the experience -- hence why I was eager to suggest it as the venue for this month's book club meeting. The food was excellent, as always, and so was the sangria. However, I was disappointed to discover, upon receiving the bill, that the restaurant is no longer offering their 2-for-1 sangria special on Mondays and Tuesdays, despite it still being advertised on their website. We ordered a pitcher and specifically asked our server about the BOGO special, and he confirmed that they were still offering it. I don't know if the question and answer got lost in translation, but we ended up paying for two pitchers, when we thought we'd only be paying for one."

  • "In short, muscles that stuck to the shell and when pulled off, took part of the shell with it because it was old and reheated. All the seafood ingredients were not hot and far from freshly prepared. Rice was mushy. Worst food experience we have ever had. Nice ambience and it tricked us!"

  • "We have dined at La Paella on a number of occasions. However, this was the first time that we ordered the Basque Paella - chicken, sausage with seafood. The paella overall was quite poor, especially the chicken and sausage. One could not discern what part of the chicken the pieces came from and the sausage was somehow made up to look like a ball or irregular shapes, definitely not sliced."

  • "I found this place because I wanted to use a restaurant . com gift certificate on a random Friday night dinner with my aunt and sister. It had mixed reviews but we gave it a shot and we were glad we did. The service was great - many people taking care of the table and you never had to hunt anyone down for service. Drinks were always refilled - sangria was delicious. We ordered a ton of apps and the sausage paella to share. It was definitely a good choice. We had the steak, artichoke, shrimp with bacon, ham croquettes and everything was very good. We even mopped up the sauces with the bread. We ended up taking home most of the paella because we had ordered too much food. It's delicious for lunch again the next day though so it was great."

  • "portions very small despite it being a tapas style restaurant; staff somewhat friendly; prices belong at a 4-5 star restaurant"

  • "Food was good but nothing outstanding. Service was very good. Waitress and waiters very friendly and attentive. New York has so many places to eat that a restaurant has to be outstanding to get a return visit."

  • "I've been here many times and usually the experience is 5 stars. This time, they really messed up. They forgot a few of our orders, the food came out tasting like we were eating salt and service wasn't great. Hopefully better next time."

  • "Tapas are a love of mine and the tapas at la Paella are pretty good. The Manchego cheese tapa is very plain and the artichoke tapa is simply too hard t share. The paella was also o.k. if uninspired"

  • "The waiter was the best thing for us. he was funny and had plenty of personality. The food however was average and small portions. The place is extremely small and tight and dark. I mean dark where u cannot even see the menu...good thing waiter had a flashlight app on his phone. I WOULD NOT GO BACK"

  • "Years ago, this used to be a dark, quiet, romantic little spot. The food is as good as ever, but when I arrived shortly before 7 PM, there were no customers, and only a waiter and a handful of busboys hanging out at the bar. Everyone was watching videos on their phones, which were audible. There was no music on, and it smelled like cleanser. I'm glad it was clean, but it should have smelled like food. I was waiting for my dinner companion, but it was about ten minutes before I was offered a drink, and that was only because the waiter saw me looking at him. Then one of the bus boys hooked his laptop up to a giant flat screen above the bar (I don't remember THAT being there) so he could watch a soccer game."

  • "I went to celebrate my birthday with a group of 8. The white sangria was excellent. The tapas were great. I did not try the paella but others in my party did and enjoyed it. The atmosphere is energetic on a Saturday night at the height of the dinner rush so if you don't like shouting then this is not the venue for you. But I would definitely go back."

  • "La Paella publicizes its weaknesses from the moment you find the door, which is glass but so grimy you can barely see into the restaurant. There's no warning on it that you need to step down, so people generally tumble into the place, where they're greeted with a slightly moldy smell. The general lack of caring is pervasive. The food does not taste like authentic Spanish, nor is it prepared in that style, even if the menu suggests otherwise. The wine selection is decent on paper but, like everything else, tastes mediocre, as if it's seen better days."
