A word from La Notte Cafe
La Notte Cafe, located in Berwyn, is a real treasure! This new bistro, open in May 2006, is the creation of Giovanni Matteo Mancini; it successfully combines outstanding cuisine in an elegant yet family friendly atmosphere. Giovanni is a restaurateur with experience that spans from his native city of Bari to Phoenix, and now in Berwyn. Delightfully decorated with pale coral walls and festive artwork, this corner cafe is large enough for a crowd, yet intimate enough for
festive celebrations. The staff is outstanding, friendly and unbelievably attentive. Most of their dishes are handmade ---their pastas and desserts are made by hand, and their entrees feature old family recipes. You won't be disappointed by the cuisine at La Notte.

I had my monthly company meeting there with 10 people attending. Matt did a great good waiting on us let us have our business meeting go uninterrupted and turned the music off when I asked him to. Was very attentive to our needs for water and then as always was excellent upon taking our food order and serving our every need.

If you want real Italian food this place is the real thing. I was born and raised in Italy and this is like eating at home Giovanni is great in the kitchen he can work wonders with food. Always has something different and always changes the menu to keep it fresh. The wines are also great once he knows you he will remember the wine you like. Great place to bring out of town friends to Angela and Giovanni have never let me down.

my husband and I found this great restaurant by accident and love it. All the dishes are prepared fresh and there is a nice assortment of pasta, fish, chicken and veal dishes. This particular night we had a reservation but there was also a wedding rehearsal dinner going on. The host made sure we were seated away from the louder party and checked on us frequently. Nice portion sizes although the prices are a little high. Have to try the Limoncella as an after dinner drink!

For us a local restaurant that serves well better than average food. Lots of high quality seafood always on their menu. The owner is always present and anxious to discuss what is on the menu decent wine selection and good desserts also. It is pricey but the food is worth the extra cost.

We had four in our party and were seated in a nice front corner table. Service was good. Three of the meals were rated good ( veal and cheese ravioli), and one not so good (mussels, shrimp over black pasta). The mussels were overdone and not very flavorful, and the pasta was undercooked. The noise level was very loud, energetic would be putting it kindly. One large table had a small child who shrieked at an ear splitting level seemingly constantly, and received many stares of displeasure from many diners...all to no avail. Would not go back even without the shreiking child.

I used to consider this restaurant a neighborhood gem. Their pork chop vesuvio is one of my favorites. A group of us planned dinner during the Berwyn Oktoberfest. The restaurant is across from the main stage. You would think that a restaurant would be prepared for an event that happens once a year, but that was not the case. After waiting for more than an hour for our dinner and when I tried to talk to who I believed was the manager (which turned out to be the owner), the response I received from him was "do you think this is easy?" Really? If you want good food but terrible customer service, come here.

I decided to try this restaurant and bring close friends at the spur of the moment. This turned out to be one of the best restaurants I have ever dined. The food was outstanding. The owner and staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great italian meal at a reasonable price.

We enjoy going there because of the friendly reception we get from the Hostess(I believe her name is Angie??)and the owner, Giovanni. This last time our wait at the bar for our reservation(we had arrived early) and our after-dinner stop at the bar was pleasantly enhanced by the new bartender, Jennifer. She engaged us in pleasant conversation and friendly banter. An excellent addition to an already positive experience.

We arrived a bit early for our reservation and waited in the bar area. This wouldn't have been a problem except that the very small bar had the television blasting! with a terrible movie. You couldn't even talk without yelling. After being seated at a nice table we ordered an appetizer and 2 glasses of wine to start. The (very yummy) appetizer was served, but not our wine. After flagging our waiter, the owner (I believe) brought our wines, but mine was the wrong one. Much later, our entree was served, but we had ordered house salads first. Thankfully, the entrees were delicious. I'd like to try again as this restaurant has much potential but I feel that they should work on the service end a bit - bar and wait staff, specifically.

Always a gem to visit. The dining experience has always been excellent. Host and Hostess great you with kindness and direct you to your reserved table or non-reserved table of your choosing. A large selection in the wine list for your choosing. Menu selection is small which is very good allowing you to glance at the menu within a short period of time. I recommend this place for small or large groups though do make the effort for larger groups to please get a reservation to allow them to find the ideal setup for such.

I celebrated my birthday at La Notte, and I had an excellent meal (Risotto del Mare) along with a glass of wine (malbec), a dessert (chocolate mousse with strawberries), and a glass of port. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. In addition to the hostess, I had the proper level of attention from my server, the bus staff, and the owner, Giovanni, who pitched in as well. I sat outside, and the only "issue", which is not an issue at all, is that the table covers were a little tattered. To be honest, it did not bother me, but as an establishment that is properly "fine dining", I would have thought that the outside would have been maintained as well as the inside. I'll still dine outside, so this is a minor complaint.

I'm writing this so people know what there getting here. This is not a fine dining experience. Its family-style food with some frills. Many of the dishes are simple meat over pasta with sauce. If that's what you're looking for, great, but there are better options in the area for foodies.

This is an interesting restaurant for Berwyn. Has been around for quite awhile and has much better than average Italian food. Lots of always fresh seafood and excellent sauces to with the seafood and pastas. It is pretty pricey and the owner is really good at up selling dishes but he is also very warm and charming so really don't object. Very busy on weekends and has a great outdoor seating wrap around porch that is always crowded on a nice evening. Glad to it is around and always enjoy it.

The food is all made to order. So while it's fresh and very good, it means it's exceptionally slow. From the time we sat down to the time food arrived, it was over an hour. And we ordered straight from the menu, nothing complicated. It was a nice night and we were able to sit outside, but as the restaurant is right next to the train tracks in Berwyn, there were three Metra trains and two very long freight trains during the time we were there and it gets loud. We had a baby with us and the restaurant staff was very accommodating.

We were attending a Tributosaurus show at WIRE in Berwyn and found La Notte Cafe on Open Table. It was an excellent find. The owner Giovanni was warm and welcoming and his son who waited our table was so interesting to visit with and attentive to our needs. The food - WOW - delizioso! After finding this place out several years ago during block party event we have gone every time for our anniversary or special occasions. Brought friends and they have enjoyed the place as well. An excellent selection of wines. Not a lot of appetizers to choose which is fine by me as well as specials which are always good and a selection of plates that is not overwhelming menu wise. Great ambiance and incredibly a kid-friendly place. I highly recommend any Berwyn-ite to come, visit and enjoy some Italian dining.

I've been dining here for a few years and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and knowledgable while never overbearing. The spicy shrimp Fra' Diavolo was Delicous with just enough heat. and the mussels in white wine sauce were cooked perfectly. The outdoor seating is wonderful on a nice warm evening, although the occasional Amtrack train can be distracting at times. I highly recommend dining here.

As an Italian I love trying new places but I will have to say this is the best place by far, not only great food but great hospitality, everything that comes out of the kitchen is so fresh and good it is an experience you will never forget. We go to La Notte because the food is excellent and they are so accomodating to any dietary restrictions. It takes a while to get your main course as most things are made to order.
