Great food, very consistent with
the best boulliabase (?) with a wonderful French country ambiance and one particular waitress who sings like Edith Pilaf! You can't beat that!"

The food is good and the prices
are very reasonable but everytime I have been there the staff has been obnoxious. They seems to think they are doing me a big favor by serving me."
Dined on 2/19/2014
Charming atmosphere, quiet, good
service and excellent food. We will definitely return and recommend it to our friends."

I had the sweetbreads as an
entree. I was more than satisfied with the amount of sweetbreads that were served, but I was confused by how terribly small the other offerings on the plate were. There was literally a teaspoon of rice, a tablespoon of mashed potatoes, a teaspoon of broccoli rabe, and 7 or 8 micro-strips of carrots...I have literally seen larger portions of sides served in finer restaurants which are notorious for small portions. I was also taken aback by how unimpressive the exterior of the restaurant appeared...I almost walked past it. When I entered, again, I felt as if I was in the wrong place...only Loic was well dressed. I guess there's no need to put on a show of elegance and style if you have a 30-year following."

The food was authentic, the wine
was great and not too expensive. The matron Danielle was outstanding, made us feel at home, even sang a song to entertain my 3 year old. Very European."

How anyone can run a restaurant
like this in Manhatten anymore was the subject of conversation at dinner. Lots of space - tables not on top of each other- cloth table cloths and napkins - lovely decor, and fantastic food! Their signature duck with plums is amazing. Also good wine and mixed drinks. Nothing is skimpy here! We wondered if they have a 1000 year lease or own the building....."

have eaten here several times and
had a very good experience Food was only fair and I'm being kind The wine was very good. A group of ten were yelling in our ears and it was hard to communicate with our guests"
Dined on 2/7/2014
We keep going back to La Mirabelle
because the service is outstanding, they continue to serve the unique French dishes we enjoy at a very reasonable price for excellent quality and its a nice family run, neighborhood restaurant in Manhattan. The wine list is not overly extensive and very reasonable, and the sweetbreads, duck and veal dishes are wonderful. The staff clearly takes pride in La Mirabelle and it shows."

We ate here for dinner last
Saturday night. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. However, our waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed and the dinner service was slow. Our food came out luke warm to cool. The food was okay--nothing special."
Dined on 2/8/2014
We have been coming here for many
years and we always feel welcomed. The food is wonderful bistro style- simple and delicious! Feels as if we were dining in Paris. Love the endive salad, the beef short ribs and the veal ragout. Service is great."
Dined on 2/1/2014
I brought a fellow upper west
sider here a couple of nights ago, who had never even noticed the restaurant from the street. So an update of the facade / window treatments might lure more people in. There's a serious silver hair factor among the patrons, and the decor could use some updating, but the food is EXCELLENT, and it's a wonderful, genuine spot for dinner."
Dined on 1/29/2014
Spruced up wine list. Not cheap,
but interesting. Food remains old style, substantial with some good choices."
Dined on 1/24/2014
La Mirabelle is a good friend to
me and has become one to my guests. Welcoming, warm, it has the ambience that makes one feel at home. A decades-long haven whether I am alone or entertaining others."
Dined on 1/26/2014
This was a perfect spot for a
relaxing delicious dinner to talk quietly with friends. The service was friendly but not chatty and helpful. Great wine list. The duck was really cooked to perfection with a sauce that was a great compliment and not overbearing. The potatoes were the best I had ever eaten! Big portions."
Dined on 1/14/2014
The most satisfying food on the
Upper West Side, and a staff that loves you back. Long may La Mirabelle wave!"
Dined on 1/14/2014
This is the second time I had
dinner at La Mirabelle and both experiences were fantastic. The food is some of the best French food I have had in the U.S. and all of our guests loved it. My children enjoyed it as well. The service was so warm and friendly - the waitress seemed happy to serve teenagers! The atmosphere is sophisticated without being stuffy. The crepes are do die for."
Dined on 1/10/2014
The service was awesome, very
attentive, sat us 20 minutes earlier then our reservations. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delightable. The staff was amazing and the women that sings has a wonderful voice."
Dined on 1/11/2014
The warm and charming décor is
evident from across the street; as you enter, you step into the delightful ambiance that is all encompassing. We ate on the mezzanine, with a lovely view of the paintings, the vibrant scene below and the happy diners all around. Keep wait to go back! And the food? you ask. Wonderful but let me tell you that the ambiance is key."

Great place for New Year's Eve.
They don't gouge you with outrageous pricing because of the holiday. Very generous celebration."
Dined on 12/31/2013
La Mirabelle is an elegant classic
french restaurant with a lovely ambience and incredible hospitality. The food is delicious and though classic french cuisine tends to be on the heavy side they are able to create dishes that feel good and please the palate with a gentle touch. The restaurant can be used for formal occasions and also accommodates casual dining. The general atmosphere is unpretentious and professional. A family run restaurant that feels like you have been invited for a special meal:)"

Ideal for a low-key but festive
New Year's eve or other celebration. Service was welcoming and attentive. Classic French with some newer touches. Appreciated the New Year's complimentary after-dinner liqueur."
Dined on 12/31/2013
I thought the food was so so. I
had the primavera...three discern able vegetables: carrots, broccoli stems, onions. The taste was watery. My friend had bouillabaisse. While it was plentiful in fish, the appearance was awful;as if they scooped it out of a trash bin. Noise level was too high. I couldn't talk to my friend with out shouting. Lacks style and taste"

We had an honest French bistro
experience with a Sunday supper at this restaurant. The food is simple but well prepared. We had an excellent brandade appetizer, steak au poivre and veal ragout for main courses, and an authentic apple tart for dessert. My husband thought the frites were some of the best he has eaten since they were thin and crunchy. The veal ragout was thick with meat chunks in a rich gravy. The staff were pleasant and efficient adding to the ambience."

This place is truly a throwback to
another era. Old fashioned French food with no nouvelle or fusion or nouveau pretensions, served beautifully by warm, caring and knowledgeable staff. This restaurant is family owned and run and has been on the UWS since the 80's. The rack of lamb was perfect. A wild mushroom appetizer in puff pastry had flavor, real mushroom flavor! The wine list is extensive and priced well. Recommendations are knowledgeable and "up sell" is not part of the process. Dinner here was like dining at the best cafe in a small town in Brittany, on the square, with excellent food and wine and great company and thoughtful warm service. We felt like part of the family. We loved it!"

difficult to assess food and
atmosphere when noise and crowding are major factors"
Dined on 12/28/2013
classic old-style french bistro.
If you want that type of experience, then this is the place for you. We didn't love everything, as we are used to lighter food these days, but we did love the escargot, venison and salmon. The bread was delicious, and nothing beats dipping bread into classically prepared escargot. Overall, they made the experience very enjoyable. We look forward to returning."
Dined on 12/26/2013
This was our. 2nd time here and as
before it lived ip to its reputation. The food and wine were delicious and service impeccable. This restaurant continues its high standard. If I lived in NY it would be my local"

I first came to La Mirabelle 30
years ago, and I think the same waitress served us. The place is so warm and friendly and cozy, it's the perfect dream of a neighborhood restaurant. The food will not make anyone's jaw drop in delight, but it's good and solid, and all in all, I will be delighted to go back soon."
Dined on 12/25/2013
The kind of neighborhood French
you used to find and enjoy all over the city. Family-run. Attentive service. Really delicious, value-priced classics. Quiet enough to enjoy and hear civilized conversations. Not much flash, but what pleasure they consistently deliver. May they go on forever!"
Dined on 12/23/2013
La Mirabelle is an excellent
restaurant, we will be back. The food, very French, was excellent. The service impeccable and the desserts were absolutely delicious."
Dined on 12/22/2013
Food was good if unspectacular.
Service was really good. Nice family/neighborhood vibe. Good relaxed setting."
Dined on 12/16/2013
this is my forth time there and
still as good as the three previous visits. Owners are always on hand and staff is cordial and friendly. A real nice French neighborhood restaurant. Really good for baby boomers and older as the regular clientele are upper west residents. Many customers are regulars but they treat everyone well."
Dined on 12/9/2013
The food was outstanding, the
waitress gave great recommendations, and did I mention how delicious the food was."
Dined on 12/8/2013
La Mirabelle provided a lovely
dining experience. The room is charming, with paintings decorating the walls, and traditional French dolls over the bar. The menu is simple and classic. I enjoyed the duck, my wife was very pleased with her filet of sole. Service was friendly and professional. We will be returning."
Dined on 12/7/2013
A good find in the neighborhood.
The place is a little too crowded for comfort (the stressed waitresses had several near accidents colliding with each other, and one real one at our table) -- and for people over a certain age it's too noisy to hear much. But the food consists of good, straightforward bistro offerings, and the service is warm and friendly. We loved the waitress who sang for our birthday honoree (not "Happy Birthday" but a French romantic number), and so did the other diners who gave her resounding applause."
Dined on 12/6/2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner
here, French standards prepared, and presented, excellently. At this price point it is hard to find in NYC. We will be back."
Dined on 12/3/2013
While we lived in the area for
over 10 years we had never been to this neighborhood institution. The outside looks like a restaurant in the Marais and the inside is like walking into Parisian heaven. The owners are divinely sweet, the menu is perfectly traditional and everything was delicious. We wanted to go back the very next day."
Dined on 12/2/2013
The ambiance and food was like a
restaurant in Paris 30-40 years ago. If you're looking for traditional french dishes this is the place to get escargot ..et al. the meat and poultry dishes looked and seemed better than fish. fruit tart was excellent. We found the dinner very satisfying and enjoyed the evening."
Dined on 11/30/2013
Service was slow. Tables are too
close each other. Food is salty."
Dined on 11/28/2013
Classic French dishes like roast
duck and sweetbreads are on the menu here and the owner and waitresses are truly French. Service is gracious. The restaurant is usually fairly quiet, but the night before Thanksgiving there were lots of groups chatting away so there was an unusual amount of hubbub from jolly groups."
