It took a looong time to get our drinks once we were seated. Straight scotch and a Mojito....hmmm. Sitting on the west wall is always drafty due to air vents. We specifically requested not to be seated there when the reservation was made but alas. The food and service overall are always excellent . I have my favorite dishes and they never disappoint. Hard to hear the person even sitting right next to me. Some people like all the 'energy' so it would work for them. The outdoor dining area is a true oasis of peace, calm, warmth and beauty. The decor is lovely.

We came here with friend that wasn't into tapas; by the end of the night he loved it and was going to make a return visit with his family. We had the bread (crusty and good), cheese plate, la merenda salad, argentian beef, pork special- amazing, tart special, veal ravioli, and pork tapa? that had a kick to it. Overall everything was delish and we had a hard time picking our favorite. We went meat heavy because one in the party didn't like fish but I would have liked to have some fish dishes. We also had the tres leches cake and chocolate bomb really good, the creme brûlée was good but the other two better. This was our fifth time here and we are never disappointed. Go you with at least another couple so you can try more of the food.

Each warm mouthful overflows with unique blends of fantastic flavor. The seasonal tart is fresh and soft and amazingly delicious. The beautifully prepared trout was buried beneath a mound of creamy cubed potatoes and accented perfectly with spices. The slightly salty La Merenda salad left me wondering "how can a little salt taste so delicious?" La Merenda's preparation is fantastic and almost indescribable. Each delicious bite is unlike anything I have tasted before. The unique menu leaves me planning my return trip. The vegetable empanadas and sauteed spinach are waiting for me until next time.

This was our first time at La Merenda, and we are looking forward to returning to try more dishes. The atmosphere is casual and the dining area open, resulting in a bit of an elevated noise level. The server was knowledgeable and helpful, and the dishes came out quickly. Our favorites were the Pork Belly Crepes and the Trout. Delish!

I was feeling something new and I have yet to really dine at a tapas style restaurant. This was a kick start as my first. I really enjoyed trying all the dishes, which were generous for their portions. This might be because I'm coming from California but I was definitely happy with what I receive. The taste is there.

The menu is extremely flexible allowing substitutions to make these tapas vegetarian or gluten free. Truffled potato skins and the local artisan cheese and meat plate are a personal favorite.

Made a last minute decision to grab a bite. Open table suggested an hour wait but, they slipped us in rather quickly. Plenty of people there, close to full our entire visit. Food was fantastic! Really enjoyed the menu full of dishes from around the world. Also, the use of local produce is appealing to me. Was quite noisy though. Hope they can improve that? Table against the wall made it hard to carry on a convo. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars.

The food was very good...tried a little of everything! My only complaint was our waiter - he was just off. He tried to present himself that he knew everything, but was making things up on the fly and then referencing his notes and contradicting what he just said. I'm fine if you just read the specials to me if you can't remember them, but don't lie and make things up if you don't recall.

We had a few hours to fill before our flight from Mitchell Field & not wanting airport food, headed to La Merenda, which not too far north of the airport in the Walker's Point area. We found free onstreet parking just around the corner. We had a table for 2 on their "California style" patio under sunny skies & enough of a breeze to make it comfortable. The charming patio area also has a large outdoor fireplace with seating & a garden plot. We ordered four plates, which our server paced well. We were pleasantly surprised that the portions were more generous than we had anticipated. Favorites were the butter chicken & the pork belly-mushroom crepes. Paired with a thoughtful selection of craft beers, we thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely lunch.

80% of the dishes we ordered were extremely salty. I am surprised we were the only ones in the restaurant who thought so. Coming from California, I had high expectations for tapas, and this restaurant may be good enough for the mid-west but nothing compared to tapas places in the bay area. The presentation of the food was good. Service was wonderful. And the atmosphere was great.

Great dinner, service, and atmosphere at La Marenda for our anniversary. Awesome selection of unique dishes and informative recommendations for waitstaff. The only dish we didn't care for was the ceviche. We felt as though for the size of the plantains chips, it was difficult to scoop the ingredients onto it and thought the ingredients would have been bettered served if they were chopped smaller. We also didn't care for the amount of grapefruit in the dish. It seemed as though grapefruit was the highlight of the dish instead of the scallops. The other dishes that we had, though, were tremendous. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend this restsurant to others.

We sat at the bar and had terrible service, our server took over ten minutes to even come over, we asked her to come over, she made it clear we were her last table and wanted to get out ASAP, there was something sharp in my Argentinian beef, another item was over cooked, and when asked about an item being gluten free our server assured us it was, I asked to still please confirm and she was wrong. Glad I listened to my gut and not her assurance.

I don't mean to sound pretentious but when all my friends and online reviews mentioned this place as the best in town, it was a let-down. But I can name 5 different tapas places in town that are better.

Arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation. Great bar, so had a drink and just relaxed. Got our table 15 minutes early. Everything was good, but a few items stood out. The Bread Plate and the Empanadas stood out as great. The Cheese & Meat Plate, Pork Belly Crepes and the Grilled Shrimp Escabeche were good. It was a little noisey, but not so much as you couldn't have a conversation. Would go back.

I visited recently with two friends. Not one of us had been before and we all have very different dietary restrictions. We were able to find 6 options that fit all of our unique needs and all of them were delicious. (there were probably more that fit our needs, but we didn't need more than 6) We also ordered a bottle of wine that was delightful. Our waitress was very thorough and knowledgeable. She was also very attentive, had perfect timing, and was super pleasant. I'd recommend it anytime.
