La Mediterranee Bistro & Wine BarI am in France as soon as I enter.Always an excellently prepared , varied, authentically French menu. The staff, with Ernesto in the lead, is welcoming, well-informed, and so-o-o French! What a pleasure from the moment I cross the threshhold!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGem French BistroDelicious food, fresh and perfectly prepared. I had the split pea soup, salmon salad and pommes frites. All were excellent.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMKind of a surpriseVisiting NYC and just stumbled upon this VERY small French bistro w charming bar, ambiance, piano player and excellent food. The French onion soup was out of this world. Waitress Ana was amusing and patient trying to teach me how to fold the napkins that grace the table. The place was still serving dinner at 9:45 when we left.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA WinnerWe had the escargot as an appetizer. First time for my husband. He loved the garlic sauce it was served in, great for bread dunking. I loved the snails too. They were plump and juicy. AS a main course I had the bouillabaisse. There could have been more fish but what there was was very tender and again the broth was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank. Tender and juicy. He devoured it. We had a nice table in the corner. The restaurant was full and quite lively but not so much that you couldn't hear each other talk. And I must add that the service was very attentive and not at all rushed in spite of the fact that the restaurant was full. We would definitely go back.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint French bistro. If you like wonderful French food and music, pianist whilst having dinner, (which we do). This is a great neighborhood find. We very much enjoyed our dinner experience in this quaint French bistro.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent...just one small thing.Just one tiny complaint. My husband was given the menu before I was. And when the food came, I was the last one to be served -- after my husband and my children We were there for Mother's Day and the waiter should have known that women get served first - whether or not it's Mother's Day!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFrench atmosphere in ManhattanThis is a beautiful small restaurant great for a romantic or intimate dinner.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with paintings of french signature. Harold at the piano gave us a wonderful musical world tour .I commend him for his talent and great choice of musical themes.
I had the prix fixe dinner which included nicely done moules à la mariniere preceded by a tomato salad with olive oil dressing. Dessert was a small delicious cheese cake. My counterpart had grilled salmon which was very good.
I asked for substitution of french fries that came with the mussels with haricot verts and it was done. This was charged as a side order on the bill but was removed when I pointed it out to the waiter.
Nice cozy place for a french dinner.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely beautiful and anAbsolutely beautiful and an amazing spot Be sure to catch Harold, the piano player!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCute French restaurant.
