A word from La Masseria
La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversized iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Second time dining at La Messaria (Farmhouse) and each time our experience was fantastic. The gnocchi is killer!!! The service is attentive but not overwhelming and the ambience is quite and romantic. Great spot and we will be back."

  • "Had not been here for over 5 years. Although it seems to have lost a bit of its "charm", the quality of food and service is very good. two comments: 1- we were 2 people, and the check already included a 15% Gratuity in it (no being from NYC, I don't know if this is the norm, but beware just in case!!); 2- Made my reservation via OpenTable for 7:45PM because there were no earlier tables available; however we got there around 7:00pm and the place was practically empty, with only 3 other tables occupied. Not sure why it was showing no availabilty, and we got a table for 2 immediately."

  • "We had the most attentive waiter. He gave great suggestion of food and wine. The ambience was fantastic. We ate outside under the awning. There was a lovey cool breeze that just made things perfect. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared."

  • "We generally go to La Masseria for lunch when seeing a show. This was the first time we went for dinner when it was nice enough to sit next to the open doors to the patio - it was lovely. The fried zucchini appetizer is always good, and we also had the mussels and burrata with sliced tomatoes, very nice. The pasta with fresh clams and the one with eggplant and smoked mozzerella were excellent, and my husband really enjoyed his branzino. We split a ricotta cheesecake for dessert - very creamy, a little more like NY stule but very tasty. This is our go-to place in the theater district. We've also eaten in the Rhode Island location!"

  • "I've been here for a Wednesday 5pm dinner with friends and 8pm on Saturday with husband. Both experiences were wonderful. The staff is phenomenal! Helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Followed their suggestions both times and have no complaints. Lemon sole was melt in your mouth good and rabbit was tender and tasty. Wine suggestions were very, very good and reasonably priced, despite the extensive list of vintage Italian wines. Wholeheartedly recommend!"

  • "Took my parents to see Of mice and men and picked this place because it was across the street from Longacre theatre. I'm so glad we went here the waiter was so nice and explained the specials to my Dad who always ask a millon questions and then forgets what the answer a second later (poor waiter). The food was great I got the spinach salad and gnocchis, so good, the gnocchis were so light and the cheese sauce they were in was delicious and creamy. My parents loved their food too. A bit expensive but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "We wanted a lunch spot close to our play and picked this because it was on the same block. We were very happy with the food and service. We dined outside which was perfect! Although it was pricey, $170+ for lunch with 1 app, 3 glasses of wine, 3 main courses and 1 dessert...we were very happy and would return....but not too often because of the price for Lu Unch"

I've been recommending this place to friends for as long as I can remember, and they love it just as much as me. Highly recommend it if you are a lover of Italian food like me."

  • "The first time I ate here it was great! Not as impressed my second visit. I know it is a restaurant in the theatre district and most people are in a hurry to make a show, but we were not, and it felt very rushed."

  • "We never miss this place during our visits to New York. The food and service remind me of Sunday dinner with my Chicago Italian family. Every dish is well done and portions are plentiful. We had to wait beyond our reservation time for a table, and they gave us a complimentary appetizer for the inconvenience."

  • "Went to the 7:00 Tuesday performance of "Gentlemens' Guide...", then a few steps to Masseria's for our 9:30 reservation. They had saved the best outdoor table for us. Extremely kind and courteous service to us tourists--made us feel like regulars. Great location, excellent food and wine, reasonable prices. Fun to people-watch as crowds spilled out of the nearby theaters, fighting for taxis as we luxuriated at ringside. You will like it!!"

  • "We had a wonderful lunch. An excellent Italian restaurant starts with crusty tasty bread, followed by exceptional Italian fresh pasta. My salmon was cooked to perfection with a light creamy mustard sauce. Ricotta cheesecake was a nice finish, light & smooth! Service was excellent."

  • "Enjoyed a pre-matinee Wednesday lunch. The restaurant is attractive, comfortable and reasonably spacious by Manhattan standards. It's a bit pricy, but worth it for the quality of the food. We split a daily special -- seafood salad appetizer -- they split the dish in the kitchen and served it separately, which is the way it should be done, rather than slopping the food from plate to plate at the table. More importantly, it was really delicious -- super fresh seafood, lightly dressed in lemon juice and a touch of olive oil. It would also made a great entree if you didn't share it. We then split the risotto of the day -- with crab and arugula, but it was just OK -- oddly lacking in seasoning and zest. "
