A word from La Masseria
La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversized iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "La Masseria has always exceeded my expectations! Great service and great food. Love the mozzerella and they always have great specials. Because its so convenient Broadway, I always try to eat here when I go to the theater. This is one of my favorite NY restaurants and have eaten here several times- never disappoints "

  • "This restaurant is just off Broadway and Times Square and as such caters for the pre and post show crowds so it is busy and vibrant. We ate hear at 7.30 and the main courses were superb; fantastic depth of flavour in my squid ink risotto. The desserts were less impressive and the Tiramasu was a little dry but otherwise acceptable. I would definitely eat here again and it is a perfect venue if you are visiting the area without being a rip-off to the tourist trade. Our waiter was the perfect host, genial, informative, attentive and looked after us on our last night in NY perfectly (although he did seem to be under a little pressure to turn the table from the manager at times!)."

  • "Was in the neighborhood and needed to find a restaurant at the last minute. Did a search for restaurants nearby and came across La Masseria. Looked good enough, so made a reservation and walked over. It was lively, as it was just about the time the theater crowd was beginning to leave. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Great pastas. I look forward to return to La Masseria in the near future."

  • "Food was great. it was mostly homemade. They did forget to serve the appetizers. There were multiple conservations about the apps but they just said sorry.Otherwise it was worth the trip. country Italian decor."

  • "In the heart of the theatre district the restaurant oozes charm and confidence and food that brings a smile of delight. The seafood salad was so fresh and seasoned to perfection. Our waiter was charming and informative about the food and wine. We will return."

  • "This restaurant is a nice find in the theater district. Very good for a relaxing meal with attentive service. We both had seafood entrees which were excellent and the side orders of spinach, broccoli rabe and grilled zucchini were just as good. They have a big selection of appetizers (we had grilled baby octopus with broccoli rabe and fava bean puree) and we want to go back to try other selections (maybe the calamari and scallops?). You won't go wrong here. It's cozy and warm, tables are not too close together here. Not inexpensive, but treat yourself and a loved one!"

  • "they are just so nice and the food is amazing. I tried gnocchi taleggio and rucola: big portion, of absolutelyhigh quality. It is real italian! It seems that they were homemade by my grandmom! Then i tried chicken with red wine sauce (vino cotto) and sausage: amazing as well. For any occasion this place is perfect. They are all very nice."

  • "I have been to many fine restaurants around the globe, and this is one of the best. If you like food that is perfection, if you like to be pampered, and if you want to find a place that brings you back again and again, run - don't walk to La Masseria."

  • "The food was delicious. The waitstaff was a little rude! They acted like you were bothering them if you asked them for something. I would definitely go back for the food though!"

  • "My daughter & I had a quick and delicious late dinner after seeing a show this week -- the fresh pasta was just wonderful and her chicken was moist, flavorful and superbly prepared. I wasn't sure if La Masseria would be a touristy place, but I have to say, it was the real deal and we really enjoyed it!"

  • "The sound system is a bit too noisy for a restaurant that generates its own background noise through an energetic, active crowd but always good food and service."

  • "We love going to La Masseria whenever we go to the theatre. The food and service are always delightful. Reservations are a must. It is often very crowded, especially around theatre times. A wonderful restaurant as long as you don't mind sitting very close to the next table and a high level of noise."

  • "La Masseria was lovely in every way. The ambiance was perfect, the decor warm, the service attentive. My only criticism is that two of our dishes (out of four) were overly salty. If they went easier on the salt it would have been thoroughly excellent!"

  • "Too much noise! The waiter can't listen what i was asking for, and he was in a rush all time. The risotto of the day was a "watery risotto" out of the cooking point!"

  • "My wife and I went for a theater matinee and reserved for lunch during restaurant week. Their choices we quite nice, portions adequate, and service excellent. We enjoyed the ambiance and agreed we would return for a dinner on our next stop in the district. If their restaurant week choices could be so enjoyable, we can only imagine their regular menu must be wonderful."

  • "My husband and I just love this restaurant. We discovered it one evening having dinner with another couple. We live in Connecticut and now it's our go to place almost every time we are in the city. It's perfect for a late night dinner after a show. The food is perfection!!! And when we walk into La Masseria we are treated like royalty. This restaurant is very energetic and I love the buzz. It's somewhat of a mixed crowd and I like that a lot. The staff is exceptional and beyond professional always eager to please.....even if you ask for some things to not be included on any dish on the menu they are more then happy to accommodate any requests. I can not reccomend La Masseria enough!!! I love it!!! Go check it out, you will too!!!!"

  • "It's my second restaurant week visit at La Masseria. This time is much better than my last visit in 2011 summer: service is great; food is good as last time. I think I will go there more often!"

  • "We picked La Masseria for its high rating, location, and availability of the NYC Restaurant Week menu for Sunday lunch. And I feel their high rating was definitely warranted, from excellent bread (this is a customer's first impression of a restaurant; how can so many serve serve terrible bread?) to the best mozzarella I can recall having, to the well prepared main course, and finally a worthy dessert. But perhaps what mostly made the meal so enjoyable was the excellent, friendly, service. Overall, a winner."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the wine at La Masseria. This was our first time at this restaurant and we were looking for authentic fresh Italian food close to Times Square. La Masseria did not disappoint. From the breads, to the fried zucchini appetizer, to the fresh pasta entrees (tagliatelle and bucatini) and finally to the warm apple tart dessert - everything was excellent. The wine was also very good and reasonably priced. We will definitely return to La Masseria."

  • "When I booked the reservation I had great hopes having seen the restaurant featured on a local cable network, but I came away disappointed in the food and the service. To be fair, it was a Wednesday matinee day and the restaurant was busy, but the wait staff was sorely lacking and seemed very mechanical and even got the dessert order wrong. As Italian restaurants go, the food was average. WIth all the great Italian restaurants in New York and my being somewhat of an Italian food expert (I am 100% Italian and am considered an excellent chef), I don't think I would go back even on a non-matinee day."
