  • "The food was well prepared, but not a good as my last visit. The operators seemed a little disorganized at times and service was a little tardy. Overall a nice place to dine, quiet are nice view beside the park, geat for patio brunch."

  • "We took our Mothers to La Maquette for Mother's Day Brunch and right off the bat things went down hill. The chairs were falling apart, the server told us right away they were very busy and we should get our order in before it got too busy (there were only a few tables seated)! Our dirty appetizer dishes and empty glasses sat on the table while numerous servers, bus persons and hosts walked by a number of times and did nothing. After a LONG wait, the steak and eggs my mother and I ordered finally arrived...with NO EGGS! The server giggled and told us he was sorry - the eggs would be right out. About 15 minutes later the eggs came (one each) and were hard as golf balls. I pointed it out to the server who again giggled and said sorry."

  • "I reserved this La Maquette for a birthday party of 10. It was a great treat that the birthday girl's meal was complimentary! I love the atmosphere and live music. It was not busy at all so we felt like we had the entire solarium to ourselves. I would ask them to update their menu on their website as the prices are remarkedly higher than listed. Otherwise, it was a fun experience!"

  • "The first time to La Maquette.. It's a romantic place for dinner. I like the Ambience and the music. Food & service are above standard. I'll recommend to my friends."

  • "We weren't sure what to expect when the birthday girl suggested this restaurant. It's been there for years and always looked too stuffy. Boy was I wrong. There were two large parties that night which just added to the energy of the place. The grilled chicken linguine was delicious and my friend's scallops looked wonderful. The birthday girl went with the prix fixe. All of the portions were quite substantial and beautifully presented. The staff were so attentive and obliging. It was a special night and they made it extra special!"

  • "My favourite lunch restaurant. Always go for Winterlicious and Summerlicious and it never disappoints. The menu is interesting, the food beautifully prepared and presented and the service friendly - not to mention the elegant décor. Would highly recommend for any time of year."

  • "A wonderful restaurant with wonderful food no matter how many times you go back"

  • "Romantic, upscale, white linens, good service, excellent food. Winterlicious menu offered interesting choices and provided very good value. Bison Osso Buco was tender and full flavoured, twin lobster tails prepared and presented perfectly. Dessert delicious, good wine and beer selection. Advised server of our theatre time and service was efficient without being rushed. Mini lights and large windows with a view of St. James Cathedral, above street level was lovely, could not hear the street noise which was a bonus. Lovely and would definitely return and recommend."

  • "I've been to La Maquette 2x before. On both occasions, we had great service. On this occasion, I was seated with a friend down on the main level. The food was fine as was the ambience, but the waiter, James, delivered the worst service I have ever received in a Toronto restaurant, and I eat out a lot. He could not not have been more ambivalent, and it was obvious he did not want to be there. There were only 3 tables he was serving, so even with Winterlicious, it was not busy. It took 45 minutes between our appetizer and main. The dishes were thrown on the table in silence, no offer of coffee/tea with our dessert. We had to pay in the back because the machine was broken. Unacceptable service for any restaurant, let alone a high end one."

  • "This restaurant has been in business for 30 years under the capable management of owner Ange. The food is consistent and offers good value both at Winterlicious and the prix fixe."

  • "The moment I walked in, the host was welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere and ambience was very romantic. We sat in the solarium. The beautiful view and lights added the extra touch to the evening. Servers were attentive. Food was wonderful. Went here for winterlicious. Will definitely recommend this to a friend"

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times and they continually exceed my expectations , Service, Food and ambience are terrific. Ask for a table by the window , the view in the winter upstairs is pretty at night . The patio is also great in summer. We accidentally spilt a bottle of wine . No fuss at all they changed the linen and cutlery and had us back to dining intstantly . This was a winterlicious dining experience and the food and service (not rushed) was as if a normal night . Highly reccomended"

  • "I went to La Maquette with several coworkers for Winterlicious. We had a nice time at the restaurant and the food was quite good but we found the service to be incredibly slow, especially given that there was a fixed menu and this was a week day lunch."

  • "This place was great! Especially The talented guitarist that played during our meal."

  • "the food was good and served at the right temperature. however, it was not as delicious as when i go and pay regular price. the duck was overcooked (although very edible) and the confit was excellent. the vegetables were tasty. the pear was also delicious. unfortunately, the waiter was wearing a stained white shirt with a hole in one of his sleeves. he looked very sloppy in his appearance."

  • "Went for winterlicious here with my mum and I felt like the waiter almost pitied us. I ordered some Pinot noir and what the waiter brought was the darkest Pinot noir I've ever seen . My mother ordered a glass of Merlot and it was the exact same colour , consistency, and taste. I really wanted to like this place because it is so pretty, but I will not be going back. Old world charm and out of date menu to match. I just felt like it should've been much more then it was . I will not be going back here again"

  • "La Maquette never disappoints. The food and service is excellent. The patio is one of the best in the city."

  • "This restaurant is a clear throwback to the old Toronto where sub standard lazy cooking was rewarded by an above average price tag and patrons sheepishly accepted the insult. Thank God those times are for the most part in the past with so many amazing choices. Not this one. Wonderful summer night so understand that the patio was the thing but don't have the inside staff lazing about the entrance bar. For a $300 plus dinning experience, one would expect something better then summer student service - 'I have only been here a couple of weeks and cannot really tell you anything about the wine list' - a cry for help please. Wine list was one of the worst I have seen for this calibre of establishment. Lazy dinner quality cooking. Stay away."

  • "This restaurant was hands down incredible from the food to the service and everything in between. The staff was very friendly upon greeting and our waiter was not pushy and was just as friendly. The food was absolutely incredible - my boyfriend and I ensured we had different courses so we could try everything. Overall we had a wonderful experience and the ambiance was quite romantic. I would definitely go back again."

  • "Hit La Maquette for a Summerlicious lunch with the coworkers. Beautiful day, and were sat on the patio in the shade- lovely ambiance, with a nice view of the Toronto Sculpture Garden (peaceful and quiet). The prix-fixe menu was varied and delicious- but most likely not as fresh/well-prepared as the a la carte menu. That being said, still delicious, well-presented and satisfying. Recommend for dates, work lunches or for a scenic meal. With the Sculpture Garden next door, and St. James Cathedral across the street, you feel transported to a medieval town- or at the very least, away from a bustling city-centre."

  • "The ambience here is wonderful. The food was delicious, well-presented and amazing! Our hostesses were very friendly, gracious and welcoming. The soft live guitar music added to the romantic feel. However, maybe we just caught our waiter on a bad day... but we felt he was rushed and flustered throughout dinner. As a result he was a bit brusque with us. Overall, we had a nice evening here and will return, hoping that next time our waiter seems less stressed."

  • "I ordered outside of the summerlicious menu. I had the seafood linguine.. I had two bites and couldnt eat the rest because the pasta was soggy and I wasn't a fan of the sauce... I also ordered two scoops of ice cream which came out to cost me $10...which made me wonder why I didnt just pick up a whole tub from the grocery store. My friend ordered a steak and said it was so chewy and over cooked she didnt finish her food either. The only thing we liked about the meal was the roasted veges and fruit cup. Service was great. Our waiter was friendly and attentive."

  • "out of all other restaurants in the list of summerlicious, this one is one of the best i have ever dine with friends. Nice ambience with latin guaiter playing.the size of food is perfectly fit for foodies and the food quality of all three courses is absolutely beyond standard. highly recommended to couples or people in love to enjoy a romantic night out to dine."

  • "Loved it for Summerlicious - both my friend and I thought it was a good deal. We got a patio seat, which would've been a really nice place for lunch if it wasn't as hot outside that day. The surrounding area of the patio was nice and quiet, don't see or hear any traffic, and pedestrians are on the sidewalk fenced away from the area we sat. The restaurant wasn't too busy on the Monday afternoon and we received attentive service. Plates were quickly taken away when the food was finished, and the water glasses were never empty for too long. We both though the food was really good, esp liked the Goat Cheese Tapenade Terrine :) Would go again if the reg menu was more affordable."

  • "We had a wonderful time. It was Sumerlicious. The restaurant had run out of Pino Gris (there were at least 3 different ones listed in the menu and they didn't have any of them. We had a Chardonnay instead. The restaurant was also out of any kind of sparkling water (club soda, Perrier, whatever). Only Ontario's finest (tap water) was available. For a restaurant of this calibre, it was surprising they would be out of these items. However, the food was great, and the lack of these items really didn't impact on the experience."

  • "I was excited walking into this place for Summerlicious. It seemed romantic and elegant but I would not return. The food was disappointing and nothing special. I had spinach salad with a handful of almonds and three raspberries. The salad tasted like it had been prepared for a few awhile as the spinach was soggy. For the main course, I had lobster tails. There was nothing special about it. The lobster tails were a little tough and the rice was undercooked. I had red velvet cake for dessert. It was extremely sweet but once again, nothing special. The service was slow and the high cost was not worth it. There was also a crane in the garden that distracted the overall ambience and romantic feeling of eating outside."
