A word from La Mangeoire
With its rustic décor, lush flower arrangements and romantic ambiance, dinners are easily transported to the warmth of the French country side the moment they walk through the door.

In late Spring, Summer, and early Fall, one can dine outside at the sidewalk café. In true French style, the terrace is lined with flowers echoing the romance of La Mangeoire’s interior.

La Mangeoire offers 3 uniquely decorated dining rooms for private gatherings. Two of these rooms provide intimate settings for business meetings or small social gatherings. For larger celebrations, such as bridal or baby showers, prenuptial dinners, engagement, wedding and anniversary parties, the restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests

Mu husband and I just came back from Paris before we made reservation at La Mangeoire. We have to say the food at La Mangeoire beats anything we had in Paris by a country mile. Everything was prepared with great care, not like some of the restaurants in the tourist area in Paris, thrown together careless but charging a high price. The decor was rustic and charming. The clientel includes both people from out of town and residents in the neighborhood. For us, we loved the appitizer the country pate. It came on a wood plank with generous portions of pates, smoked duck breast, sausages and pickles. It could have made a meal with a bowel of French onion soup and a small salade. We will definitely go back there every time we visit NYC.

Perhaps French is just not a cuisine that appeals to my taste buds. My wife enjoyed her selection a little more. However, we both left the restaurant feeling the dinner was uneventful. The ambience was nice. The service was good. The meals were just ok. That being said, this was my first time eating at an exclusively French restaurant. We thought we would try something new. Don't think I would go back.

Very sad, because it's a charming setting. But the food is overpriced, the menu has been sharply diminished, and the service is fair, at best. Perhaps the owner needs to retire.

For a $90 tasting selection, I should not have to get full on bread and cheese. The main course, being pork loin, should have at least been twice the size. It wasn't like they were serving filet mignon.

The restaurant felt very 'French'. It was quiet, soothing, far front he streets of Manhattan. The portions were strikingly unequal. The chicken was ample. The pasta was just fine. My husband and I shared the bass, and our double portion was small. We needed to eat when we arrived home. But, it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the company of our friends, and the staff was obliging and gracious.

Very value for money in this neighborhood, where corporate lunches abound. The food is delicious, and the special (rabbit leg) was perfectly done. I was a little disappointed with the mussels though, because the creme fraiche overpowered the otherwise mild broth in which the mussels came.

We had a Poulet Roti (served as Family dish for two adults and two kids) which was absolutely like it has to be. Quick, a point, well-seasoned, the wine was simple and good (like all the reds from the southern Rhone). Service quick, professional as well as polite and informed. Merci bien messieurs!

Lovely neighborhood French restaurant. Comfortable seating and not noisy considering that the tables are close together. Not far from Third Avenue offices but doesn't feel like a business restaurant which is what you want once in a while. Food was delicious and service efficient. One item that I have not seen elsewhere were the two separate listings for each main course; either single or for 2. Had we both ordered the single it would have been more expensive than the double. Since we were both having the same dish this worked perfectly. The double portion was large; we couldn't even finish it.

La Mangeoire over the years has been able to create a menu that has some continual favorites and at the same time some fresh new items that keep me returning. Service was good but focus was to get rid of you. The house special chicken was salty, naked on the plate and tasteless. Fries were good. The lemon tart was made in a factory. The pate starter was so cold it was just defrosted. The chef has the tricolor of France on his collar I wonder how he got it. I live in the neighborhood and will never go back. Expensive for what you get as well.
