A word from La Mangeoire
With its rustic décor, lush flower arrangements and romantic ambiance, dinners are easily transported to the warmth of the French country side the moment they walk through the door.

In late Spring, Summer, and early Fall, one can dine outside at the sidewalk café. In true French style, the terrace is lined with flowers echoing the romance of La Mangeoire’s interior.

La Mangeoire offers 3 uniquely decorated dining rooms for private gatherings. Two of these rooms provide intimate settings for business meetings or small social gatherings. For larger celebrations, such as bridal or baby showers, prenuptial dinners, engagement, wedding and anniversary parties, the restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests

  • "Never disappoints. A neighborhood gem. The best poulet rôtis in New York Gracious, friendly, attentive service!!!!"

  • "Outstanding food, not too noisy, good service. My only complaint is the limited, and rather expensive, wine list."
    Dined on 6/30/2014
  • "This was our second time at La Mangeoire. Everything was outstanding - from the appetizers (we had the crabmeat with avocado and grapefruit) to the main course (roasted chicken), wine selection and deserts. Looking forward to our next meal there..."

  • "Always consistently excellent food. The list of bests at La Mangeoire goes on and on. Scallops were absolutely amazing, but the lobster sauce was incredible. Soup du jour, cold tomato with basil was fantastic. A must everytime we are in New York!"

  • "All around great. Close to perfect. French country is exactly the case."

  • "We had our intimate wedding reception at La Mangeoire 30 years ago. We celebrated our 10th, 20th, and now 30th anniversary here. It is still as charming and romantic as I recalled. The food is excellent. The servers are extremely good. The ambience is delightful. I love this restaurant."

  • "My favorite restaurant in Manhattan. I have been here many times - perfect for a quiet business lunch, charming for a small family gathering, welcoming in the evening. The food is perfection, the wine assortment just right. Great value, friendly and courteous staff."

  • "We have been going to this restaurant since it opened many years ago. It is our go to restaurant with family and friends. Gerard, owner, knows and accommodates our requests. He does the beautiful flower arrangement. I give it an overall excellent rating."

  • "This is a wonderful retaurant, with patient waiters and excellent service. Could use a little sprucing up. My companions food was not as edible as mine as so it gets only 4 stars. I think going back at an off hour when the day is not so busy would help a great deal. "

  • "Perfect evening out! The service was fast but not too fast, the food fresh and well prepared. GZ was correct."

  • "La Mangeoire over the years has been able to create a menu that has some continual favorites and at the same time some fresh new items that keep me returning. I have often taken guests there and never been disappointed on any front. Through several redecorations and updates of the dining room, it has kept the same charm that was attractive when I first dined there more than 25 years ago. "

  • "This is a very nice restaurant in the tradition of the French Bistro."

  • "My husband and I starting going to La Mangeoire in 1991 when we were dating. It was and is a fabulous find. The food is excellent, the decor is charming, and the staff is always delightful. The long term success of this restaurant in the competitive NYC market is a testament to its quality. I introduce friends and colleagues to iLa Mangeoire anytime I can and they are consistently impressed. I can't wait to go back again. "

  • "The food has always been wonderful. We especially liked the fact that it's possible to have a conversation; the noise level is low and the division of the restaurant into separate rooms, instead of one big one, contributes to the atmosphere of informal intimacy. "

  • "Service was good but focus was to get rid of you. The house special chicken was salty, naked on the plate and tasteless. Fries were good. The lemon tart was made in a factory. The pate starter was so cold it was just defrosted. The chef has the tricolor of France on his collar I wonder how he got it. I live in the neighborhood and will never go back. Expensive for what you get as well."

  • "A table for 6 to celebrate my elderly father's birthday - everything was excellent!"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "The service is wonderful here - everyone is so friendly and so nice. But that chicken is not only fabulous but it is presented to you at the table before it is carved up - it is so beautifully roasted that you want to take a picture. Oh, and the french fries are absolute perfection."

  • "Excellent country French Cusine. Very good service and the corkage fee is reasonable"

  • "I placed my order (potato galette, which was delicious) and the server brought me a completely different plate (eggs benedict). When I told the server he questioned whether i really had ordered that, he wasn't rude but appeared annoyed. i had to wait until everyone else was midway through their plates before I got mine. Overall food was great but servers need a little more customer service. "

  • "La Mangeoire is a classic French restaurant in mid-town. The service is very friendly and the food is delicious. It offers many classic French dishes. We were last there for an Easter Brunch with a special Prix-Fixe menu. Everything was wonderful."

  • "The service was slow and the food was mediocre. It was a disappointment after reading all of the reviews on OpenTable. There are too many other great restaurants in NYC for me to ever consider going back. "

  • "Three people, each ordered the 1/4 roasted chicken and two asked for all white meat. The waiter said fine. All dishes came with dark (leg or thigh) and a small piece of white meat (part of a breast). I mentioned our previous request to the waiter. His response, "the chef won't do that....sorry." My reply, "Why didn't you come back and tell me that when I ordered? I would have changed the order." The waiter's reply....a blank stare and he walked away. HUH?????? I mentioned it to a different waiter who was serving our wine and he said, "Sorry" and walked away. We usually order the whole roasted chicken which is terrific. For some reason we didn't this evening. The kitchen does a great job but service was poor that evening."

  • "I had lunch with two business colleagues and found the restaurant perfect for a business lunch. The restaurant was quiet, and service and Prix Fixe Lunch menu was excellent. The restaurant is on the expensive side, but worth it."

  • "We fairly stumbled on this charming neighborhood spot and were so pleasantly surprised! The food was classic French bistro fare, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We will most certainly be back!"

  • "La Mangeoire is a treasure, a cozy refuge whenever you need an infusion of classic bistro cuisine. The menu isn't trendy. Most of the dishes are tried-and-true staples. But that's not criticism. La Mangeoire knows what it does well and it excels at it. At my recent lunch with a client, there wasn't a mouthful that wasn't top rate. There are many fine things on the menu, but the roast chicken and the french fries always stand out."

  • "Celebrated our anniversary in France and never left home! We had a delightful evening with friendly, attentive staff. The food reminded us of France and the chef was willing to accommodate food issues. The roast chicken was more than enough for 3 and the trout special yummy. The ambiance was the special touch - the colors, paintings, furnishings, linens - all done with care. Been in the neighborhood for years and feels very fresh. Will definitely return."

  • "Christian Delouvrier is a master chef and he brings that magic to La Mangeoire! We've been several times and have had some of the best, most perfectly prepared French food anywhere. Over the several meals we have eaten here we've discovered the best cassoulet we have ever eaten. Add to that almost everything that comes out of the kitchen. This time I had the most perfect escargot and the most incredible veal blanquette (so amazing). Add to this a wonderful French wine list, and let's not forget the anchovy-olives, etc., tapenade. I' getting hungry writing about it. Chef Delouvier you are a genious! Thanks for always making La Mangeoire an amazing eating experience."
