A word from La Mangeoire
With its rustic décor, lush flower arrangements and romantic ambiance, dinners are easily transported to the warmth of the French country side the moment they walk through the door.

In late Spring, Summer, and early Fall, one can dine outside at the sidewalk café. In true French style, the terrace is lined with flowers echoing the romance of La Mangeoire’s interior.

La Mangeoire offers 3 uniquely decorated dining rooms for private gatherings. Two of these rooms provide intimate settings for business meetings or small social gatherings. For larger celebrations, such as bridal or baby showers, prenuptial dinners, engagement, wedding and anniversary parties, the restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests

Diner Reviews
  • "Lovely birthday dinner. Extremely accommodating in every respect. Extremely good food and an extensive list of good French wines. Beautifully decorated with equisite big floral arrangements. Not inexpensive but worth the expense."

  • "I had lunch with two business colleagues and found the restaurant perfect for a business lunch. The restaurant was quiet, and service and Prix Fixe Lunch menu was excellent. The restaurant is on the expensive side, but worth it."

  • "We fairly stumbled on this charming neighborhood spot and were so pleasantly surprised! The food was classic French bistro fare, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We will most certainly be back!"

  • "La Mangeoire is a treasure, a cozy refuge whenever you need an infusion of classic bistro cuisine. The menu isn't trendy. Most of the dishes are tried-and-true staples. But that's not criticism. La Mangeoire knows what it does well and it excels at it. At my recent lunch with a client, there wasn't a mouthful that wasn't top rate. There are many fine things on the menu, but the roast chicken and the french fries always stand out."

  • "Celebrated our anniversary in France and never left home! We had a delightful evening with friendly, attentive staff. The food reminded us of France and the chef was willing to accommodate food issues. The roast chicken was more than enough for 3 and the trout special yummy. The ambiance was the special touch - the colors, paintings, furnishings, linens - all done with care. Been in the neighborhood for years and feels very fresh. Will definitely return."

  • "Christian Delouvrier is a master chef and he brings that magic to La Mangeoire! We've been several times and have had some of the best, most perfectly prepared French food anywhere. Over the several meals we have eaten here we've discovered the best cassoulet we have ever eaten. Add to that almost everything that comes out of the kitchen. This time I had the most perfect escargot and the most incredible veal blanquette (so amazing). Add to this a wonderful French wine list, and let's not forget the anchovy-olives, etc., tapenade. I' getting hungry writing about it. Chef Delouvier you are a genious! Thanks for always making La Mangeoire an amazing eating experience."

  • "It's my neighborhood, but I would travel for it. Very French in feel, but friendlier. And I really like the ability to order a small Maine course."

  • "Great food and service. Would definitely return, my only issue was that it was very warm in the restaurant. Other then that everything was excellent. Thanks"

  • "Everything here is excellent. I particularly like the chicken -- but be sure to order it over the fries (which are particularly great!"

  • "Small plates make a nice shared meal. Quiet atmosphere and good service. Mussels could have used a bit more garlic, but the beet salad was perfect."

  • "Skilled staff and attentive service. Very good wine selection. Escargot was delicious with just the right balance of butter and herbs. Perfect French bread crusty and fresh. The veal stew was delicate in a white sauce as was the cog au vin bold in a rich, dark wine reduction. Our second visit but certainly not our last."

  • "Delicious food, pleasant service. I met with friends whom I hadn't seen in a very long time. Although I felt very rushed even before we had our coats off, the service calmed down and we sat for quite some time in a very relaxing atmosphere."

  • "The food at La Mangeroire was divine, The french onion soup is the best in the country. Our experience was really special. We loved the service and the people. We just didn't think it could be so great, but it was. What a treat. We'll be back."

  • "We have eaten at this restaurant many times and will continue to do so on our returns to New York. The provincial-style French food is always great, the service is attentive, efficient and friendly, and the staff always remember you. We ate here twice in the last week and both meals were excellent and the experience very enjoyable. The Cassoulet special was excellent and the Roasted Pork Tenderloin was also delightful, and the servings of all meals were plentiful. The Coupe Gasconne (prune ice cream, Armagnac marinated prune) was also delightful. The French wine list is good and the prices are very reasonable. All in all, a very good, satisfying and reliable place to eat. Keep up the good work."

  • "My wife and I took a friend visiting NYC for the first time to La Mangeoire. They had a special (Grouper) and I had rabbit, all perfectly prepared. The meal was excellent, service outstanding and.while tables are fairly close together, except for 1 liud foursome next to us, the noise level was perfectly acceptable. If you want an excellent meal in what appears to be a Provence farmhouse, La Mangeoire is certainly the place to go."

  • "Our party of 4 had a birthday lunch at the restaurant and everyone totally loved the food and ambiance. It's also convenient to my home so I've decided that more of our evenings out for dinner will be spent at La Mangeoire."

  • "A neighborhood restaurant that creates an ambiance of eating in France with food that supports the dream. The service was attentive, the food beautifully prepared (both small and large plates), and the wine selection appropriate. I always enjoy going to La Mangeoire to support my need for having "real" French food without the expense of a long plane ride."

  • "As remarkable as this sounds, I have never had a bad or even off experience here. The food is consistently excellent. The staff is always easy going, charming and attentive. Aside from the fact that everyone is speaking English, you would swear you were in a charming, relaxed neighborhood restaurant in Paris!"

  • "La Mangeoire is a very simple and casual restaurant that serves delicious country French food. Don't go there expecting a light meal or anything nouvelle. What is served is authentic and delicious food from the French countryside. The roast chicken is wonderful, as is the cassoulet and the steak au poivre. Lovely spot."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day and it was well-worth the $80; portions were moderate but filling and everything was delicious (I had the scallops, lobster bisque and my husband had the duck and wild bass). Ambience was romantic and while there were several diners (including a couple fighting if you can believe it on Valentine's Day of all days), it felt very intimate and special."

  • "There was confusion when we arrived, I had to find someone to tell them we were there for dinner and had a reservation, it took some time to be seated but I can forgive this as it was busy and they were trying to get the first sitting out for the late diners, my biggest issue is we sat there for almost 15 mins before I had to grab someones attention to get some form of service, a waiter worked a table next to ours and completely ignored us. my wife and I ordered the pan seared Fois Gras and Duck for the main, unfortunately the Fois Gras lacked seasoning and mine was cold, they had not seared it enough to take the chill out of it, the duck main was excellent. We ordered the wine pairing and have to say the restaurant picked excellent wines"

  • "We went for valentines day. Yes the prices were much higher since ut was a holiday, but we were seated right away, the good and service was amazing. We have been going here for years and it never ceases to disappoint. Highly recommend."

  • "This is an attractive French bistro with friendly and efficient service. The whole roast chcken (for three or four) is the best I've had and, in my opinion, superior to the more expensive birds at Georgette and The Nomad."

  • "It's a gem of a place (although the owner can be a bit curt), with fabulous food and a setting that looks like a French country inn."

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday. In the online reservation I asked for a nice table since it was my husband's birthday. We were definitely heard. Seated at a table in a quiet corner surrounded by antiques. Staff warm and attentive, and the food was delicious. Dessert came with a birthday candle which I had not asked for -- super nice touch. The owner/ manager came by with a warm birthday greeting. First time there but felt like an old friend."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant; we've been going for years and had many good meals there but they've raised their prices to unwarranted levels (e.g. - $28 for the "small" plate of coq au vin; the regular sized coq au vin was in the $30's - hey - it's chicken!)."

  • "I had heard about this place so I gave it a shot for a lunch with my motherinlaw. She loved their chicken but she seemed to enjoy their pasta as well. that was surprising. Loved the interior and service. Highly recommended."

  • "The roast chicken was excellent. The bread was very good. The service was attentive and pleasant. Very comfortable place. I would go back. Just need to know what to order. Mussels were not in a good sauce. The pate was bland."

  • "This is a place I've always wanted to try and when my daughter's birthday arrived and she said we should meet half way, I chose La Mangeoire. We were seated immediately, treated extremely well. We had a room to ourselves for most of the meal and we were unrushed. The food arrived hot and well prepared although my daughter's French Toast was a little raw inside. My husband loved his berry pancakes and my omelet was delicious. The bread was amazing. I would not mind coming back and trying this place for dinner or any other meal."

  • "I selected this restaurant for a business related dinner. I did my research and selected Mangeoire. What an excellent choice. I arrived on time and waited 20 minutes for my guest to arrive. Staff did a good job of making me feel very much welcome. I did not feel rushed. I was invited to sit and relax. I ordered water and the waiter brought little bowls of fabulous olives, olive oil, etc. My guest was warmly welcomed on her arrival. The meal was exquisite: pate, chicken, and skate fish. In addition to beautiful presentations, the aromas wafting by, whenever a tray was near us, were simply divine. The chef was most accommodating of my guest's dietary needs: gluten and dairy free. The wine selections were inspired; so, too, the sorbet!"
