We opened our restaurant, La Maison du Magret, in the vault area of a former bank in Old Montreal so that we can offer you a fine blend of the traditional and the contemporary.

We invite to come and discover our specialties from southwestern France in a warm atmosphere reflecting the hues of the region.

Our menu features foie gras in a variety of forms—torchon-style, in a block, escalope or Périgourd tourin—sure to please the most demanding palate. It also gives pride of place to roasted duck breast, seasoned with Espelette pepper and topped with foie gras sauce, as well as Mulard duck leg confit, served with duck fat French fries.

Our selection of wines from southwestern France pair beautifully with the delicacies served. Our private imports from the region are designed to enhance your menu choice.

The entire Maison du Magret team is at your service to make sure your dining experience is one to remember.

  • "This restaurant is great, my wife and I love it. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is very romantic. They specialize in duck (hence the title) so most things on the menu will have some form of duck in them. But if you want to experience all the delicious ways you can have duck, definitely try this place."

  • "Came across this restaurant after dropping off a package at the Canada Post office. Made a quick reservation on OpenTable and shazam ! What's not to like ? Everyone is friendly here, so I hope they do well. The pictures indicating the male and female bathrooms will make you feel all warm and fuzzy. I had the signature dish, the Magret. The only thing that I would like better is for the duck skin to be perhaps a bit more crispy if possible and the sauce to be a bit thicker (and more sauce wouldn't hurt either). Lots of restaurants to explore in Montreal, but I wouldn't mind coming back to this one at all."

  • "The food was so good from start to finish. They use every part of the duck and have all the famous french duck dishes. Very friendly service with a simple yet succulent and affordable menu! Our waiter was great! As soon as they add duck filled dumplings (ravioli) with duck sauce or poutine (one with either roasted duck, one au foie gras and one just plain with their yummy sauce and their amazing all you can eat french fries) and a foie gras creme brule, we're back! "

  • "We had entrée de fois gras (a must if you like - the foie gras poêlé is the main interest of this plate), the magret, classically served and so tasty, the duck ravioli, excellent, and a pastis cake which was ok. Wine was a private importation, a terroir Fronton which was well paired. Ambiance was perfect (restaurant which is close Palais des Congrès was not busy on this ice rainy friday evening). Service was excellent and just fast enough; definitively over the average. Will go again and recommend"

  • "This is a great restaurant. I've been a couple of times and was never disappointed. Please try the à La Decouverte Du Foie Gras appetizer (can be shared by 2). It is amazing and a real steal. I also tried the Salade Dacquoise, the Cuisse De Canard Confite, which were good, but weren't stellar. The Magret De Canard Poêle, perfectly cooked, and the Raviolis De Canard were quite delicious, especially with their foie gras-based sauces. The Risotto De Canard was a tad on the salty side and had pulled duck confit instead of the slices/pieces of duck that I was expecting but still a great dish. For dessert, the Pastis landais et compote maison was a little bland, but the Cannelés Bordelais were tasty! Overall, a great dining experience!"

  • "In an excellent food city, this was the star of our trip. Incredible variations on duck -- extremely tasty, comforting, thoughtfully conceived, and well-prepared. The soup in particular was extraordinary, so rich and delicious. We went twice and were never disappointed for a moment. Good location convenient to downtown and Old Montreal. Pretty bistro-style interior with large windows to the street, nice for lunch especially."
