La Madia - A Contemporary PizzeriaWonderful La Madia ExperienceFirst let me say the food is amazing. Definitely get a fondue appetizer when you go. The chopped Italian salad was huge and delicious and the pizza was everything I had hoped for and then some. I got the pork belly pizza and I recommend it. I also like being able to watch them make and bake the pizza by hand. The wine list is extensive and the pairings with the pizzas are great. The service was also nice, very well timed courses and everyone was polite. Our reservation was ready on time. I went for an anniversary date and we both had a great time. We will definitely go back, I definitely recommend this place!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPizza and moreI visited with two friends. We tried a white and a red pizza, both good but I really thought the sausage on the red pizza was fantastic! Pizza crust was PERFECTION. We had a really delicious beet salad as well. The starter was a bit disappointing as it was described as "fondu" so we pictured a more traditional fondue with gooey cheese and dipping sticks. Instead it was a baked dough with a side of sauce, tasty but far too much like pizza and less like true fondue. Dessert? What a surprise! I never expect great desserts in great restaurants but this place has it down...that chocolate cake is to die for!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice dinnerWent here with a girlfriend, the staff was very courteous and nice. They allowed us to take our time and were not pushy.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Enjoyed La MadiaWe really like the pizza at La Madia for a different change from the traditional Chicago Style pizza. They also have a pretty good beer list, and extensive wine list. The service was great too!!!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA group of us took a co-workerA group of us took a co-worker to La Madia for lunch to celebrate her birthday and we all had a great time. I particularly appreciated our server (whose name I do not recall) and how helpful he was.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA little hard to find withA little hard to find with the current renovations going on around the area but once found it was very good. I would go back to try more of the menu items and be waited on by the friendly, knowledgable staff.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious pizza at reasonableDelicious pizza at reasonable prices. We got 2 pizzas to split between 4 with an appetizer and a salad and it was just the right amount of food. The wine list was impressive and everything was extremely reasonably priced. Our waiter even split the bill for us without even askiing, which was great. Overall I would come back. One of my dining companions said she comes for lunch and they have quite a deal.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a little loud but otherwiseIt was a little loud but otherwise great food n service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing good, waiter was great.Amazing good, waiter was great. Only negative is that the service in relation to drinks was very slow. Took about 15 minutes to get a wine refill or even a water refill. Our group understood the bar was busy.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as usual.Do not miss the Triple Pepperoni with Truffle Oil pizza, you will regret it. The beet salad is fantastic as is the Mozzarella Bruschette. Skip the pizza fondue, it's not that great. Very nice wine list with lots of by the glass options as well as nice bottles.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMIf only they would bring backIf only they would bring back the Costa Rican Pinneapple Pizza I'd be back more often.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMService, food, and wine wasService, food, and wine was excellent. It did get quite noisy towards the end because tables were close together and there were many big groups. This is understandable considering it was Saturday night. Would definitely go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI have yet to go here andI have yet to go here and NOT order the spinach/taleggio/truffle dip, & the carbonara pizza. Just absolutely incredible pizza.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find.Enjoyed LaMadia on a recent trip to Chicago. Weeknight was busy with a mixed crowd of diners. Started with the mussels app which was served promptly. Fresh nd served with bread to dip in the sauce.
Had the pizza which was very good . Lighter crust and perfect for a couple to share. Three wines and a mixed drink along with a shred desert cost about 90 bucks including tip.
Loved this layer back casual eclectic Italian bistro.
Their pizza is not the typical Chicago deep dish heavy version...it's lighter and tastier ...will return when back in Chi Town.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMService superstarOur server Ralph was extremely personable and made for a great and knowledgeable evening!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFor those not too keen onFor those not too keen on deep dish pizza, this thin crust was exceptional. The bruschetta and salad was delicious and I would recommend trying the crimson crush if looking for a light cocktail as opposed to a glass of wine or beer. The service was excellent, my 7 year old accompanied us and Alex had brought out some dough for her to play with, which was pretty cool for her and made her feel included.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat PizzaThe pizza was absolutely delicious and it reminded me of being in Italy. We brought our kids and they loved it too. They had a nice wine selection and our waitress was very friendly. We also had an arugula salad that was large enough to share. We will absolutely be back!!!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you don't like deep dish...This is the second time that I've taken my mom here while she was in town. Its a couple blocks from her hotel and perfect for our traditional Friday night pizza. Being from New York, we prefer the brick oven pizza over the Chicago deep dish. So this place is perfect!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMHad salad, pizza & wine, allHad salad, pizza & wine, all three were excellent .......3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place but was aLove this place but was a little surprised when I ordered what I thought was a vegetarian pizza -- roasted banana pepper and onion -- and the waitress happened to mention that it has pork on it. That was not mentioned anywhere in the dish description. She was able to have it prepared without pork, but in the interest of full disclosure, this should be noted in the description for those of us who either dont like pork, or who have diet/religious restrictions that exclude pork.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAdd to your "must try" listEnjoyed our first visit, food was well above ordinary pizzeria expectations. Great menu options, ordered 2 different pizzas, an appetizer special and pasta. Nice beer selection with hard to find craft beers. Noisy at first with small children, fortunately they left shortly after we arrived. Cozy bar area, open kitchen & side room seating available. Also like the option for round tables. A bit chilly to be seated in the front section as diners come through revolving door. The crowd was a combination of business professionals, adult couples & girlfriends enjoying the evening. Arrived 6:30 by 8pm departure it was nearly fully seated. Valet parking a plus but adding $11.99 + tip to the night is not the highlight of the evening.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first visit was at an off-hourMy first visit was at an off-hour for the restaurant - 3:00 p.m. on a weekday - not the best gauge of ambiance and energy. I met with a potential client then ordered 4 pizzas to go. The server helpfully suggested getting the pizzas half baked so they'd be better at serving - a fantastic tip. Pizzas were great! They even included post-baking toppings (spices, truffle oil) in the boxes. Great, great wine list. Go!!3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI came back to this placeI came back to this place after two years interval. Excellent. Since my friend who visited here recently highly recommended grilled artichoke, despite that there is no such menu on lunch menu, I place a special request to get it over lunch hour. Even before I mentioned it, the server checked my request that I placed via OpenTable, and confirmed that they can prepare it specially for us! It tasted great. My daughter loved the food and place, and I promised to her we will come back again soon. Highly recommended.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, unusually quiet night. If you want a quiet table here, just come on Oscar night. It was dead and I know that this is very unusual. But the service was terrific and our server steered us in just the right directions. Lovely meal, as usual.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my first time hereIt was my first time here with a friend and we really liked everything we orderd including the wine (Beckmen)! We split the Nichols salad, short ribs, 2 pizzas (cracked egg and the wild mushroom) and the chocolate hazelnut gelato. Will go back!1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI tried the sausage calzoneI tried the sausage calzone while my spouse had the 3 cheese pizza. The calzone was good -- nicely filled with cheese, onions, sauce and the housemade sausage. It's served with any awesome creamy tomato sauce. The pizza is one of our go-to's. As good as usual.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
