Diner Reviews
  • "We were expecting better than average modern Mexican fare. This is not the case. Pork carnitas was okay but accompanying habenero slaw was plain boring. Crab enchiladas not any better. Overall, we would not recommend. They need to liven their food and give it a bit of flair. Margeritas could not even help but they were excellent but pricey. "

  • "I had high hopes that were quickly dashed from the start. Hostess could not get the idea of two couples adding up to four people. Portions were small and most items are over priced. Stick with a more basic Mexican restaurant where you get what you pay for. I stopped at Cheesecake Factory on the way home bc the tacos were tiny! ha"

  • "Husband's birthday. Amy was our server and rocked!! Service excellent but not hovering. Complimentary churro with 3 yummy sauces and coffee awesome! We will be back."

  • "The food was tasty, but not what I expected. I guess I'm more of a sucker for the hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint compared to over-priced sub-par food. But since it was not on my dime, not complaining. My buddy got the skirt steak and that had excellent flavor. Our service was okay, but had to ask several times for extra tortillas and hot sauce. It is worth going one time for the experience, but not a place I would frequent."

  • "When we arrived. We were greeted by maitre de. Our waiter was Ray. We highly recommend him. He was very helpful when ordering and explaining the menu and he was very accomodating. We proceeded to dinning area after drinks and appetizers on the patio. At that point the service escaladed to Ray and 2 bus boys (1 was a girl). Unfortunately, the music did not follow us.The selection was extensive. He was there to serve our every whim. The appetizer , drinks and main course were superb, however 2 of the 3 desserts we ordered were not.Overall, the expeience, ambiance, food and service was excellant! I rate it 4.75 stars only because the cappucino and ice cream were mediocre."

  • "I liked the venue, being located in the Fairmont Princess Resort in North Scottsdale, and also newly renovated in the last year or two. The outdoor tables were unique with a firepit in the center of each. The sangria and guacomole were both delicious as appetizers. Everyone enjoyed their main course - carnitas, and chicken and beef fajitas. We had a birthday at our table, and they brought a lovely flan specialty dessert, which was a nice surprise. Another nice touch was valet parking, which was free with a validation from the restaurant."

  • "I can only assume the restaurant is listed in the Top 10 in Scottsdale because of its location and decor - it can't be for the food or cost. $14 for a bad margarita is a little much, but $30 plus for dry pork is insane. I have visited some of the finest restaurants around the world, and this certainly is memorable in only one aspect - cost versus benefit. Three of us had separate entrees, and none were worth the cost. Granted, the chef tries to create unique dishes, but the result - at least for ours - was unsuccessful. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unwilling to sink a couple of hundred dollars into a failed experiment."

  • "We were not informed about the happy hour drinks or menu in the bar, had to ask, the margaritas were $6 instead of $12. A big difference. Overpriced average Mexican food. service was poor, food was served warm. We felt we were troubling the wait staff when asking a question, or requesting an item. This used to be a great place to go, its certainly changed."

  • "Ive been here twice now and I must say this is my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale and maybe anywhere. It is truly unique and outstanding. I cant wait to come back!"

  • "Dinner here is absolutely delicious, you won't be disappointed with anything you order. The food is brought to your table in impressive time and is fresh and hot. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, they'll do anything they can to give you the best experience possible. The location is beautiful and romantic and perfectly clean. Completely worth the price the experience is next to none!"

  • "Our favorite part of our dinner were the appetizer shredded beef tacos. The chicken was a bit too spicy for my personal taste. My husband liked the pork. The organic Margarita was delicious - the prickly pear Margarita was way too sweet - not one you want with a salt rim. The noise was moderate when we were seated, but a cocktail party started in the private room behind us, drowning out our conversation. When they were seated for dinner, it was noticeably quieter at our table."

  • "First night @ The Fairmont Princess in Scottsdale we had dinner with new made friends. The table side guacamole is a must. Not to mention the margaritas!!! Outdoor dining was perfect and to top it all off, we received a complimentary rice plugging in a chocolate cup!!!!!"

  • "Another wonderful experience at La Hacienda. We were entertaining an out-of-town guest from Alaska, and he wanted to have the best Mexican food in Phoenix. We didn't hesitate in bringing him to La Hacienda. Lamb, pork, steak, tableside guacamole, handcrafted margaritas, all excellent. Highly recommended."

  • "We dine here for special occasions as it is a special place. Service is excellent, food is consistently good. They have recently updated their menu as well and the new items are also top notch."

  • "This was my first time at this highly recommended restaurant, and it definitely lived up to the reviews. Great ambiance, comfortable seating, fabulous food and wonderful service. The pomegranate guacamole was fantastic, as were the jalepeno margaritas. Everything was just perfect. Can't wait to go back again next time we are in Scottsdale."

  • "My wife and I picked the La Hacienda because we liked the sound of the Prixe Fixe special dinner the best out of all the other resturants that we considered. When we arrived they knew we were coming, and seated us immediately. Services was perfect with timing and attentiveness. We were delighted to find out that we could also order al lacarte and we did. My wife was concerned about the possible portion size of the grilled shrimp fajitas but was pleassantly surprised when her plate came and it was a perfect portion. I ordered the Skirt Steak and it was prepared exactly how I like it. It came with a cheese enchilada that was very delicious. We also enjoyed the fresh quacamole prepared table side and the house chips and salsa were delicious."

  • "My husband and I dined at La Hacienda on a Saturday evening (the night after Valentine's Day) and the restaurant was quite busy. Although the waitstaff was stressed to the max, they did a great job keeping up with demands. The food was outstanding!"

  • "Food tasted great but portions were very small for the price. Some of the menu items didn't list all ingredients, a problem for food allergies. Service was outstanding."

  • "overall, La Hacienda is a large Mexican restaurant. The saving grace is the tequila tasting, with the "tequila queen." She was awesome and the tequila delicious. Not a bad place, but of the two Fairmont restaurants, Bourbon Steak has them beat hands down."

  • "The food was good, some aspects great or intriguing (e.g., Sopa de Calabasa butternut squash soup), but the experience was diminished by slower than desirable service and some unusual, unenjoyable occurrences. It definitely didn't live up to our expectations going in for this Valentine's Day special occasion. The redeeming feature was the company as I was having dinner with my wife of 32 years."

  • "La Hacienda offers wonderful imaginative food, with many choices, from small antojitos to full entrees, at fair prices. Service is attentive without being obnoxiously so. Margaritas are particularly good. Ambience varies from room to room and outside. On a cold night the rooms with fireplace are welcoming and comfortable."

  • "Not impressed. Food was bland and way overpriced just like the cocktails. The house Margarita tasted like watered down sour mix."

  • "Absolutely love La Hacienda. We live in the area and make an effort to visit the Fairmont and La Hacienda. Tableside quacamole, flaming coffees, incredible margaritas, and great service. It's definitely a must-visit. Highly recommended!"

  • "Great place for a business dinner and enjoy being outside. The heat lamps and open flame tables add to the delicious offerings. Braised lamb shank was recommended by our server and exceeded expectations."
    Dined on 1/27/2014
  • "The food is wonderfully flavorful with a Mexican flair. The scallops and pork belly in adobo was wonderful-perfectly cooked with a subtle "heat" in the sauce. The pork shank is a heavier dish but still subtle in seasoning. Prices are in the $30 range and the portions are ample but not excessive. A really fine hotel restaurant."

  • "Very very good mexican restaurant located in the Fairmont Hotel Princess Drive Scottsdale. Reputed for a strong tequila list with a specialist sommelier 'tequila goddess'. On second visit marguerites were not up to scratch however the staff recognized this and without further ado replaced them with the right stuff."

  • "From the handcrafted margaritas & tableside guacamole to the outside tables with built-in fire pits, I give La Hacienda two thumbs up. I'll be back! And don't leave without trying the flaming coffee!"

  • "Our waiter, Alfonso, was top notch, and the food was over the top. I love TRUE Mexican food, not Mexican food that consists of lettuce, tomato, beans/rice and some sort of meat thrown in then smothered with sour cream and salsa. Two of our party of 5 favorites were the Filet a la Parilla and the Mole Pablano; the flavors were decadent. And, even though my tummy was already as happy as could be, we indulged in an order of their Churros and Flan; ok, now put a fork in us, we were totally done. We are still raving about it and happy we are locals as we will be back sooner than later. But for now, time to hit the gym!"

  • "Our party of four had an amazing dining experience at La Hacienda last night. Wow. We started with tableside guacamole, highly recommended. Then we had a killer Tequila flight, followed up with Maestro Doebel margaritas, another wow, a must-try. The ladies enjoyed the salmon, I had the Pork Carnitas, and my friend had the lamb. All dishes were superb. My wife also enjoyed a Cafe Acapulco, which was prepared on a rolling cart with a fire display. So cool! The service was absolutely wonderful, and Ryan the General Manager was kind enough to visit our table and make excellent recommendations. La Hacienda is a hidden jewel, and I highly recommend a visit. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "Excellent choice for Mexican cuisine. We started with the guacamole . Made table side with fresh ingredients. Then had the lobster tacos which were the best food both of us had. My husband had the filet dish. It was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. We ended the meal with after dinner drinks of coffee and liquors. To our delight-they were flaming drinks. It was quite a show to see the waiter make them! Would certainly go back to try more menu items."

  • "Took my wife here for her birthday in December, we mainly go to this resort for the Christmas decorations but decided to have dinner here as well. First off, the reason I said poor value is the cost versus the quality of food, I had the fish, it was an entire fish fried which I like but the waiter forgot to tell me there were still bones in the fish, I nearly choked after the first bite, he did come over and apologized about not warning me about the bones. My wife had the scallops which we both usually love but these scallops were so salty they were hard to eat. Due to the cost versus quality, we will not be back. We have had much better food for much less."
