La Grotta RaviniaWonderful Mothers DayWhat a great experience for mothers day. The view is fantastic, the food was well stocked. The seating is spread out so we never felt rushed or had to wait.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatWe dine here several times a year. The food is consistently great. The service is always on point. The view is beautiful.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMfavoriteMy husband and I love everything about this restaurant from the top notch, but non intrusive staff to the creative offerings on the menu. Food done extremely well, classy, European feel. Just discovered the live music on Saturday. Who knew! Been going to Lea Grouts for almost 40 years.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant featuringExcellent restaurant featuring an unchanging menu with high quality well prepared and tasty food. Kitchen staff is in full view and work like a well knit team. Wait staff is professional, knowledgeable friendly and attentive without being obsequious.
We prefer Saturday nights when music is featured and dancing is encouraged.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Grotta Ravinia offers deliciousLa Grotta Ravinia offers delicious food, great ambiance, a very fine band was playing....just everything about it was lovely!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian StallionWas wary when eating in a hotel restaurant although original I suspect is not in a hotel. It was fantastic. My niece order veal ravioli in vodka sauce which was fabulous. My steak was well prepared. Only down part of the meal is I didn't stick to plan to order veal myself. Good wine list with seasonal specials. Would definitely return. Service was solid and very knowledgeable.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly good! The Ravinia La Grotta is a separate entity from its Peachtree Rd. cousin and located in a hotel, none of which portends high expectations for a good dinner. However, the room is delightful, with a view of an outdoor wooded area through floor to ceiling windows, and the service is attentive, helpful, and friendly. No attitude here. The menu selections are not unique by any means, but do encompass the usual pan-Italian fare with emphasis on the Northern end of the country. Our selections of appetizer, entrees, and desert were cooked perfectly and were truly delicious. The downside is that the restaurant is on the expensive side. All in all, we would return.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI always forget how soothingI always forget how soothing and enjoyable the ambiance of La Grotta can be. The food is excellent, the service is indicative of professional staffing, and the setting makes it feel special. We were celebrating a 91st birthday and the staff were so attentive and brought Proseca and cake for my mom after dinner. Wonderful food!!!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, beautifulWonderful food, beautiful views, I do plan to eat here again. Although I will try to avoid going on a Saturday night during prom season...4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were married at La GrottaWe were married at La Grotta in 1993. We celebrated my wife's birthday; I was surprised that she was not offered dessert.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service was outstandinThe food and service was outstanding. I had a wonderful experience.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDavidI had not been to LaGrotta in many years, and I will not waitcthatclong again. The food was excellent. The service outstanding. Carlos, our waiter, was very attentive. This restaurant is nestled away inside the Crown Plaza-both the hotel and the restaurant could use an architectural upgrade. But if you are looking for the best Italian food in Atlanta, I suggest you give LaGrotta a try. You will not be disappointed.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOld fashion style of serviceOld fashion style of service with the most serene atmosphere. Manny and Otto were a fantastic duo: fun, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I will definitely go back.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous & deliciousThis was my very first time visiting. The food and service was very good. I had their salmone which was to die for! My family had chicken and Pasta dishes. They accommodated our request wonderfully and the food arrived in a timely manner. I loved the ambiance and atmosphere(very romantic) I would definitely recommend their Calamari (really good) We was celebrating a birthday so after dinner they gave us a complimentary dessert which was absolutely AMAZING! I wish we could upload pictures to this site because it was equally Gorgeous as it was delicious. My only recommendation to fellow new-comers is to book an early reservation. Because they are located in a hotel, closing time fluctuates based on attendance.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made reservations to bringWe made reservations to bring my husband's brother here because the view is so wonderful. However, his flight got cancelled, but my husband and I decided to go ahead anyway with our dinner plans. We were glad we did. The service and food are always wonderful. This time I tried the Dover Sole that I had read about in an article. My husband tried the special, the mixed grill. We were both pleased with our dishes. It had been raining, so we did not go outside, but we've enjoyed walking the garden area on past visits since the water features are soothing.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLively atmosphere, delicious food! This dinner was to celebrate our best friends 14th year wedding anniversary. While LaGrotta Ravinia was very busy and crowded & we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated (even with a long standing reservation!), it was well worth the wait. The manager was very gracious & brought us complimentary cocktails to sip on while we waited. Once seated, our waiter, Carlos, was charming, attentive & gracious. Our menu selection items, including appetizers, salads, main courses, & desserts for everyone were absolutely delicious & one of the best meals that we each had ever had. The band had a good range of music but were a bit loud - ~ 1/2 of the tables are near the band. All told, the four of us had a lovely, special evening.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Very Nice RestaurantThis was the first time that we had gone to LaGrotta Ravinia. I had been to their other restaurant in Buckhead and enjoyed that experience also. Everything was fantastic including the jazz band that played. The only problem we had was with our head waiter. He very seldom visited our table saying he was busy but he had plenty of time to give great service to his other tables. A young gentleman who assisted our head waiter at times was very good.
Other than that, he was a beautiful evening.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a reservation for aWe had a reservation for a party of two at 8:15. We showed up a half hour early and checked with the hostess to let her know we had arrived and were waiting. Took time and had a cocktail in the bar upstairs from the restaurant and went back to check in. The hostess stated that it was very busy. We waited and so people coming and going so at 8:30 I followed up again and she siad they were getting a table ready. Again at 8:50 I asked for the manager who sat us at that time. I do not know why I even made a reservation if it's not honored. I live almost an hour away and wanted to have a special night out with my wife and this was not the way to begin. Once seated the waiter provided excellent service and the food and live music was great....4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful restaurant. PerfectBeautiful restaurant. Perfect abiance setting for a cozy and romantic evening, with live music, big band/jazz, for your pleasure. I had the scallops in a sage sauce which were absolutely excellent. I thought the sage might be overpowering, but it wasn't, it only enhanced the overall flavor of my entree. Our servers were very attentive and entertaining. I would definitely go back and need to put La Grotta Ravinia down as one of my new favorite restaurants.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were disappointed thatWe were disappointed that we were not offered a drink before we were asked if we had any questions about the menu. Also, when the wine was served, we were not offered to taste it before it was poured. And then we were asked frequently about whether we had made a menu choice. Got the feeling that we were being rushed. Service not up to the usual standard.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific experience: deliciousTerrific experience: delicious food & romantic atmosphere, especially on Saturday night "Sinatra Night" with the jazz trio. No other experience like this in Atlanta.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNice ExperienceSaturday night dining with the Sinatra-esque live music was very nice. Our table with a view of the gardens was great. Our wait after ordering appetizers was a bit long, but otherwise service was attentive and responsive. The antipasti, caprese, and carpaccio appetizers were very good, as were the entrees of risotto with chicken and gorgonzola and veal saltimbocco. I wouldn't order the panna cotta again - too bland. We ran one tab and used our Travelzoo vouchers (2 couples, 2 vouchers), and had fine meals and a good bottle of wine to reach the $200 value of the 2 vouchers. A great experience for only $49 per couple through Travelzoo, before the $20 per couple tip!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful place - great service, wonderful place - great service, food, atmosphere - loved live music3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday night dinner for 4We had a very nice dinner for 4 on a Saturday night. We would have been seated promptly, but were asked if we wanted to wait a few minutes for a table by the window with a wonderful view of the hotel garden. There was a 3 piece band playing and singing old songs. Very nice, and not too loud to make it hard to hear. Everyone loved their pasta dishes. I prefer my calamari appetizer a little crisper, but that is a personal preference. The only thing that bothered me was that when our waiter was at our table and I wanted to ask him something, I had to wait several times for him to finish speaking to one of the other workers who was coming up to ask him questions.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM31stMy wife and I celebrated our 31st anniverary at the restaurant. They gave us a table over tlloking the twp water falls and fountain in the garden. The garden would certainly look better in a month when the flowers and trees welcome spring.
We had excellent service and the food was great. We had caesar salad, muchroom an donion soup, veal scallipini and lamb chops for dinner and finished it off with creme brulee, chocolate mousse cake and coffee.
The comment negative about the restaurant was it has a small wine list but th ewine I did select from the wine by glass waa excellent.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed our evening! We really enjoyed our evening! Saturday nights they have music and they were very Good!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood excellent...ambianceFood excellent...ambiance excellent...music (band) great...overall service fair. Server not very good. The support servers were good. We did have to ask for more water several times, but they were usually around and responsive. The support servers covered the ladies dishes to keep the food warm until they returned from the powder room, which was appreciated and a nice touch! Undecided on if we'll return or recommend this restaurant.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food was very good andthe food was very good and the wait staff were all very attentive.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an overall enjoyable evening.Had an overall enjoyable evening. Live band playing Christmas tune was a nice touch. Grilled beef tenderloin was to perfection and scallop dish was equally awesome. Service was timely. Only draw back is that the hostess passed quite a few tables to sit my wife and I at the very back. We politely directed her back up front to several nicer table locations. She obliged and, like I said, everyone else created a pleasant dining experience.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AMA hotel restaurant that's great!Do not be put off by La Grotta Ravinia's location inside a Crowne Plaza hotel in the middle of an office park. As you walk down a winding tile staircase through lush plantings, you almost (but admittedly not quite) enter a different environment. The room is very handsome and quiet (though the piped-in Italian music might be one notch quieter). The menu includes a good variety of favorites as well as creative specials. The wine list is relatively brief but of high quality. The service is always really first-rate. La Grotta Ravinia is to me just as enjoyable as the original in Buckhead, and is far more accessible. For Italian at and north of the Perimeter, La Grotta Ravinia is the best in town.11/30/2012 12:00:00 AMHad dinner there 3/15/13.Had dinner there 3/15/13. The service was very attentive, knowledgeable, relaxed & friendly. We had the romaine & Gorgonzola salads; pasta special of the day & shrimp & scallop linguine; creme brulee & a glass of chianti. Everything was excellent. The facility, ambience and view are all excellent. We come here regularly including for special occasions such as anniversaries and even a wedding rehearsal dinner last year. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
