  • "I enjoyed my time while it lasted. We had a large group eat here and everone's food was great. The drinks were well made and the cheesecake was unbelievably good. I'll actually return just for that. The only problem was the service. The waiter attending to us seemed to have a slight attitude. He brought out desserts and had given them to the wrong people, one of whom is allergic to certain ingredients. A couple of drinks never made their way to the table yet we were still charged for them. When asked for a correction the drinks were removed, but the issue shouldn't have occured. All in all it was a "B" experience."

  • "They do SOME great food, but for some reason they think they can improve on classic creme brulee by manufacturing something that looks like creme brulee archaeopteryx. The tables are so small that if you order antipasto for a party of 4, everything - glasses, silverware, dishes - has to be moved within an inch of falling off the table to accommodate it. The staff has to wiggle to get between the tables. The noise level is perfect for people who have nothing to say to each other - apparently there are lots of them. If three people are still eating, they'll clear the setting of the one who's finished - perfect greasy spoon style."

  • "I have lived in Houston since 1973 and have somehow missed this really special place. Intimate, outstanding service and an intriguing menu. We arrived at 11:30 and by 11:45 the place was rocking...at lunch! I had a crab and citurs salad, more of a tower really, usually made with endive but as requested they substituted arugula. Yum. My friend also had a salad-with perfectly crisped calamari. I cannot wait to go back for pasta, much of it handmade on premise, and pizzas...lovely room, patio very inviting."

  • "Arrived early, checked in & had a drink at the bar. Drinks seemed a bit light. We wrapped up our bar bill and saw hostess to be seated on time. Excellent care & feeding by the waitstaff. Menu had many family-friendly items & quite an array of choices for those with more adult tastes (duck, scallops, fish). We shared the Antipasti Bar for appetizer. Great deal & delish! I had the scallops & risotto appetizer for my dinner. Was excellent & the perfect size. Hubby had the duck & enjoyed it immensely. Lots of kids running around, so not the best "date night" spot if you mind that. They stock black sambuca at the bar, always a favorite & hard to find in Houston. Overall, would absolutely recommend. We will be back."

  • "My wife and I ate at La Griglia for dinner last night. We had a $100 gift card and were able to use it all up for the dinner and including the tip. That came to two glasses of wine, an entree for me, an entree and a salad for my wife. They brought out some bread, as you often get in Italian restaurants, but there was no oil. Just dry bread. When I asked for some, the waiter brought out a small dish with oil and garlic in it. When we got the bill, I discovered they charged us $6 for the oil! I'm sorry, but that's just absurd. You have to ask for oil with the bread, and then you get hit for $6. The main dishes were good, so no complaint there, but the oil situation really does not sit well with me. It's doubtful that we will be back."

  • "It was my first time returning to La Griglia in many years and as soon as the service began, I knew why I had stayed away for so long. I really don't want to trash this place but it's really not Italian food and whatever food it is, it's just not good. I think the only people who like this place don't even know how to pronounce the name properly. Bad bread, way overcooked pasta (even though I asked for al Dente) and just generally not up to the standards of the ever growing restaurant scene in Houston. I think it’s time for a new concept in this space. I won’t return."

  • "We started the meal off with their bread/pizza stick basket - to me it was nothing special but others rave about it. We then had lobster bisque which had a far amount of lobster in it and a ton of butter. The lobster bisque was the best part of the meal. For entrees, my wife opted for the flounder (nightly special) and it was nicely presented with an array of steamed vegetables. The fish was flaky enough and they did not drown it in sauce - a good thing, in my opinion. I went with their beef tenderloin medallions with mushrooms and vegetables. To me, glorified Hamburger Helper. I did not enjoy it and was one of the first times I did not eat all of my food. Overall, a very expensive endeavor and I will not return."

  • "I've known Lá Griglia since 2005 and the service has always been flawless. Unfortunately yesterday the service was really disappointing. I took my wife there for the first time to celebrate our three year anniversary. When I made the reservation I made it known it was our anniversary, ie seemed like no one cared. Worst part was that I had to ask for balsamic vinegar and olive oil 4x from the different servers before I got it. However the food was exquisite and I'm willing to go back based on my part experiences there."

  • "We checked in to our 9:00 OpenTable reservation about 10 minutes early, so we knew the table might not be ready. 30 minutes later we noticed that they were seating walk-ins and had completely forgotten about us. We had been invited to return to La Griglia by company management after a similar experience last year. That time, we were forgotten after we ordered our food in the bar area. As we were getting up to leave, they begged us to stay. After our food finally came (which we really didn't want anymore) they brought us the check. Not a good move."

  • "Really impressive service with a polite, attentive staff. I felt like we were treated like kings even though we weren't dressed up nor over 45. There's an eclectic mix of clientele. Audi R8s and beemers parked outside. But, we came straight from work. My friend and I split our courses, and they came out separate dishes and halved perfectly without us even asking. That was a super nice touch! Some dishes are really, really good--like the frutti di mare and the pappardelle alla ragu. The duck is nice, but the osso bucco was missing a little oomph. Wines are nice but a little on the pricey side. Get the ricotta cake....yum."

  • "We relocated to Houston late last year and we have tried a large variety of restaurants at various price points, styles, etc. We have had great food at numerous restaurants, but this one is the BEST by far. My wife and I both had fish and they were the best pieces of fish we have enjoyed in a long time. My daughter had mussels and pizza, she also way very satisfied. Then there is the service, our waiters treated us VERY good, also the best in Houston we have experienced."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised that my fish wasn't swimming in butter and sauce. Finally the restaurant has caught on that you don't need to hide the flavor of fish with a heavy butter sauce! I will definitely be returning to have the grilled Red Snapper with crab and root vegetables! It was really delicious! I think everyone in our party of six was pleased with their meal. I will definitely be coming back very soon!"

  • "The reservation was met and it was down hill after that. We come here once a year for a birthday. Service started well and we placed our order. Food arrived in the expected amount of time. Grandmas veal parmesan cutlet was burnt on the bottom. Wifes garlic pasta had no flavor. It was like the kitchen had a new chef or at half staff. Halfway through dinner the a/c came on and blew on our food making it cold. My red snapper was great until then. Luckily my coffee was good. It was a disappointing evening. I wont be back for the next birthday. Finding somewhere else to celebrate."
