La Gondola - Belmonta perfect fitI've never been disappointed by La Gondola, whether on Ashland or the newer Belmont location: They are always on point.
From the wonderful food and peaceful atmosphere, to the staff that is just the right amount of attentive.. I can sing their praises all day. A great choice!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen there many times andBeen there many times and like the food very much....this trip service was terrible6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious...butThe food was delicious, although, for the second or third time now, they made the dish incorrectly. The "main" portion of the dish was correct (i.e., veal, talapia, etc.), but the side was incorrect (i.e., side of pasta, incorrect sauce, side vegetable). This annoyed us slightly, but that fact that the food was delicious, made-up for that...slightly.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGluten Free treats! In addition to classic Italian fare, La Gondola offers very good gluten free rotini, with which they will serve any of their sauces. We arrived one our late for a 10 pm after-theater reservation, but were welcomed warmly. Highly recommend to diners who want traditional fare but without gluten. (My dining companion enjoyed the deep fried ravioli, obviously off limits to me but very satisfying in a very unhealthy way!)5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThese people consistentlyThese people consistently treat us well. We bring large groups and they are always accommodating. Plus, the food is really good, and you get a lot of it.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the Specials - Tortellini PanaDinner for a group of 6 can be challenging, but La Gondola did the job effortlessly - fast and attentive service, including keeping the drinks and water filled and checking to ensure that everything was great, from the first drink order to asking about dessert and delivering the check. Three of us had the Tortellini Pana special, which was meat tortellini in a light cream sauce with Prosciutto and thinly and expertly sauteed mushrooms. The Mesa Luna was also noted as particularly good. Try this neighborhood spot!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA group of friends with variousA group of friends with various food restrictions and preferences ate at La Gondola prior to seeing a play across the street. La Gondola came through. They pleased everyone. Each one of us had a fabulous dinner, served in time, within our theater deadline. Three at our table followed the waiter's recommendation for the full rib slab special. We were rewarded with one of the best pork rib dinners I've ever enjoyed. Others in the group enjoyed lemon chicken and a pasta dish. Everyone was singing the praises of La Gondola as we walked across the street to the theater.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemGreat litle corner restaurant, really good food, nice Italian music, friendly staff5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLa GondolaAs good as the older, original on Ashland. Good food, nice folks.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food great for family. We have gone here quire a few times for dinner, and stumbled across it for Brunch. WE ARE GLAD WE DID. The price per person was incredibly reasonable and the selection of food was vast and fresh. They were so accommodating for my 2 year old, she could eat anything on the menu and gave her free milk. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't let the outside foolDon't let the outside fool you. Once inside, this Italian gem is very nice and the food absolutely wonderful. Be warned, the portions are healthy, but not at the expense of quality.
I had the Salmon Vesuvio which was a very well prepared and my friend had the Risotto Porcini which she liked a lot as well.
I selected this place due to its proximity to Stage773 Theater and I am happy I did. This was my first visit, but I hope to return here again when I am in the area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed the food and theI enjoyed the food and the service. I would definitely go back.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood meal, great service.I had the fried meat ravioli appetizer and the pollo piccata. Both were very good. The meat raviolis are plentiful with meat, unlike some others I've had. The pollo piccata was good, although the menu description mentioned artichoke hearts but, instead, mine had an abundance of pepperoncinis. They were good to give the chicken flavor, but were overwhelming to actually eat them with the chicken. I ended up picking all of them out. Everything else mentioned in the menu description was in the dish and was very delicious. I love capers!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu includes every singleThe menu includes every single pasta, veal and chicken dish ever served at an Italian-American restaurant. Everything is competently prepared and generous.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place has quickly becomeThis place has quickly become our favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. The decor is not much and it's not a high-end place but the food is fantastic. Over time, we've had the gnocchi, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, the grilled seafood(you will get a mound of seafood that is a steal at this price), and spaghetti carbonara. We've never had a dish less than excellent. Plus, the house vinaigrette on their salad is superb. Go, go, go!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellant. WeThe food was excellant. We went late after a show. They were very nice. I ordered gnocci w pesto. It was the most amazing pesto I ever had. I asked for more bread so I could eat more. It was just that good...3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid dining experienceI've always had a solid experience every time I've dined here. The staff is friendly (but can be a bit slow) and the food is always delicious. I'm glad this is nearby my house :)3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe decided to eat here beforeWe decided to eat here before a show at Comedy Sportz, as it was within walking distance. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the wait staff very attentive without being overly in our space. Even though it is advertised as a "family friendly" restaurant, and there were a few families with small children, it did not feel like I was sitting next on top of kid chaos. Great experience!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been going there frequenetlWe have been going there frequenetly and enjoy the food very much.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHave always enjoyed the foodHave always enjoyed the food at La Gondola, it's nice they have this second location that can accommodate more people. Delicious eggplant parm and enough to make a second meal out of it later in the week. Also refreshing when a restaurant still offers soup or salad w/ your entree. Street parking is easy too.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
