The menu wasn't extensive, but that's probably because they have perfected everything they do offer. From chicken cacciatore to lobster ravioli, our whole group LOVED every entree and we all ended up sharing with each other claiming we had the best dinner. It was an overall great experience with the exception of how how it was. It is an open air restaurant like many places in the North End, but the tables were close enough where it was just hot inside and a couple people had to step outside periodically to cool off. Probably would have been better if it weren't a rainy day, since it got a bit cold inside the restaurant, but definitely looked like the setup from the show.
Food was quite tasty-- the special was delicious (had eggplant, mushrooms, and some other stuff). It felt like the restaurant was really just using the same six ingredients in all their food.... but considering the portion size was excellent and everything was delicious (we ordered canneloni and their super fluffy gnocchi), I really can't complain. Our food was incredible-- I cannot speak highly enough about the linguini & clam sauce! Warning-- it is on the spicy side. Arancini (4) were a perfect size, hot and melty and the red sauce was just sweet enough.
Loved the white bean/olive oil spread with the bread basket.
Entrees ordered were the grilled pork chop and chicken bona boca. The chop came with spicy red pepper strips and mushrooms-- great flavor. Lately we have been trying restaurants off of the Main tourist drag. ( Hanover Street ) The food is every bit as good, less expensive and the staff very friendly. La Galleria is one of the best places I have ever been in the North End. The staff is VERY HELPFUL, even allowed me to borrow a charger for my iPhone. The owner visited our table numerous times which was a nice touch.
