Diner Reviews
  • "We recently had lunch at La Galleria 33. It was Easter Sunday and the day before the Boston Marathon. The waitstaff was attentive and our food arrived promptly. We ordered a variety of dishes from salads to mussels to pastas. All of the food was well presented and delicious. "

  • "I arranged the dinner reservations for 14 people and the staff and owners were incredibly accomadating. It was the Boston marathon weekend so they were very busy, but the staff and the good were exceptional. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning. "

  • "We were greeted at the door with a smile and seated promptly for our reservation. The server was nice, our main courses were delicious (we shared the asparagus & black truffle risotto and eggplant parmigiana) and my Caprese Salad was divine. I do have a few complaints. The tables were crowded and too close, we had to ask for bread, when we ordered a bottle of wine the server did not let us taste it before pouring a glass and the caesar salad was poorly dressed with grated parmesan! Overall we weren't "Wowed", it didn't pull us in and make us come back but we would give it another chance."

  • "Everything was pretty average here. One thing that did stick out was the noise level, but there was large party next to us which definitely contributed. Food was good, enjoyed the menu idea of small plates so you can try multiple things and courses. We got the shrimp scampi as an app and gnocchi and chicken boba bocca for entrees. Pasta was fresh and chicken was flavored well. Just nothing wow about the good or service."

  • "excellent food. not crowded on Sundays so noise level not an issue for us (which it seems as if it might be when more crowded)."

  • "The food was fantastic - fresh ingredients, cooked to order. Our table ordered linguine & meatballs, veal marsala and pork chops - all of it very good. Antipasto was good but pretty basic - salami, olives, tomato & mozzarella etc. The service was the week spot here - it wasn't terrible but it should have been more attentive. The waitress was looking for us to order right after we sat down & after I said that we were going to start with the antipasto, she was back in 3 minutes asking if we were ready to order entrees. Too bad she wasn't this attentive when our drinks were out later during our meal. However, overall the restaurant was good & the server wasn't rude but rather maybe needs some more training."

  • "Went to Galleria 33 for the first time after reading about it on a blog. I was looking for a North End restaurant that had gluten free options. My wife got a risotto dish (not GF) and thought it was great. We split an antipasto which was very good as well. My dinner- a veal dish (sorry can't remember the name but it was the owners signature dish) which was prepared GF was perhaps the best meal I have ever eaten. Perfection!! Service was good, ambience good. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "This is not the typical North End experience. The food was nothing special...every sauce my group ordered tasted store bought. Furthermore, it took almost an hour from the time we ordered to have our food delivered. They later claimed the kitchen was backed up with a large party, but no one communicated this to us (or bothered to fill up our water glasses) while we waited....very dissappinting."

  • "The restaurant had the white table cloth, non clutered ambiance. The food not so great. I ordered Lasagna, it tasted great but there was seven layers of pasta and no filling at all. My Hubby had the veal marsala, it was tough and kinda soupy. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I think they need to be revisited by Gordon."

  • "Food was great. We were a party of three for an early Saturday dinner. Enjoyed the antipasto - meats, cheeses, caprese, baby greens with a balsamic dressing. When we finished, we decided to forego the dinner salads. Enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana, veal-stuffed canelloni, and the pork chop. Service was friendly and relaxed. Because of the open kitchen, it started to get a little "smoky" in the front dining area (where we were seated). Have visited the restaurant a few times now, and each experience has been a pleasant one."

  • "A friend was visiting from LA, and staying near by in local hotel. Was a great spot to walk to. We were sat right away for our 8:00 reservation, and overall great experience. Always enjoy trying something new and like the smaller gems best, this was one of them. Definitely would go back."

  • "A friend was visiting from Helsinki and for his birthday I took him to la galleria 33 for a north end experience. We started with shrimp scampi and crispy calamari, both were delicious. We then split 3 small plates, linguini with clams, lasagna, and gnocchi. All were amazing-- probably my favorite in the north end. Like everything else, the tiramisu was great."

  • "We went in on a Friday at 5:30 before a show. We were the only ones in the restaurant until probably 6:00. It was great!"

  • "The staff was very flexible to our changing plan and was pleasant to interact with. There are a lot of neighborhood italian restaurants in the north end that are pretenders but this place is not. The food is quite yummy."

  • "I booked this last minute via Open Table for Valentine's Day and was very pleased. The menu was simple and everything we had was delicious. I would absolutely recommend the Veal Paradiso! Service was friendly and efficient and I thought the pricing was reasonable for this area. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the North End. I'll be back!"

  • "We went to La Galleria on Sunday of President's Day weekend. Calamari and aranchini were very good, my 10 year old tried some of both and really enjoyed it! Dinners were chicken ziti broccoli, a veal dish (forget name) and Chicken Bona Boca, all were delicious. Love the sauce the chicken was cooked in. Will return soon. Service was perfect, although there was only one other table besides us being served. They forgot to check us in with our Open Table reservation, but it has since been corrected."

  • "Really good food, good sized portions and good wine list. the only thing I could see that needs improvement is the service. Otherwise then that great place to go with a small group if you are on a budget. Happy Eating!!!"

  • "although the food was good, there was only beer on tap and very limited choices. I think we only had 4 and they were not good. My biggest problem was the screaming and yelling at the staff in a very public and blatant manner. Made for a very uncomfortable dining experience."

  • "Ambience was great for a date, exposed brick, light music playing in the background and a cute view of the North End busy streets. We went on a Saturday for lunch and service was great. All of the food was great - Mussels in wine, Shrimp & Asparagus Fettuccine, and Pasta alla Carbonara. Only complaint was the Pasta alla Carbonara had a lot of prosciutto and I was disappointed they didnt have the fried egg on top, however the pasta was still perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The Shrimp pasta dish was a special for the day and my boyfriend loved it, they gave a good portion of Shrimp which was great and they were large in size. Would recommend to a friend if they wanted a hidden gem with good food."

  • "service, wine and food all great! My husband and I both ordered veal dishes, they were amazing and so reasonably priced. I can't wait to go again. The butter spread that is served with the bread is not great, they should just give you garlic and oil. Also, it would nice if the bus woman working that night spoke a little more English. All in all the place is gorgeous and I highly recommend for a romantic dinner for 2 or with the family."

  • "Overall good food! Great location! Pasta with entree was a bit small but chicken parm was still pretty good! Hostess/owner was great about seating us quickly on a busy night as we had a reservation."

  • "We had dinner recently at La Galleria 33- My husband and I and another couple. We started with a bottle of wine -A Cabernet recommended by our waiter. Great choice! We started with the Calamari and a Caprese salad..wonderful. Calamari was perfectly cooked, lightly fried, caprese salad was fresh and delicious. We all ordered different dishes for our main course- some pasta, 2 chicken dishes and a veal dish. Everyone of us felt our selection was the "best"- I highly recommend La Galleria 33 as a top choice for the North End."

  • "Great food and service. Got really noisy when a large group came in and was very very hot inside with people, the heaters, candles and hot food, but I should not complain with all the snow on the ground. Overall a good experience."

  • "I decided to give this place a try after getting a recommendation from a friend who lived in the North End for years and claimed this to be the best restaurant. I was truly disappointed from the moment I walked in. First the restaurant is very loud. I usually enjoy a loud energetic restaurant but I couldn't even hear my date sitting 2 feet across from me. I also noticed the restaurant had a very strong "seafood" type smell upon walking in which remained engraved in my clothes the entire evening. This was the first time I ordered a dish in the North End and thought I could have done a better job. The gnocchi came out mushy with a hint of a burnt taste and the sauce was nothing special. However, my dates dish tasted much better than mine."

  • "We were very pleased with the food and the atmosphere. North End at it's best and a little off the beaten path. Pasta like mama used to make."

  • "My parents and I decided to come to this place again after over a year. The menu was decent, not too extensive and they had a good selection of wines. Our wait staff was attentive throughout the night. We will be back again."

  • "All four in our party had different meals and everyone was very happy. Food was very fresh and tasty, service excellent. It was a bit noisier than we had hoped....how about some sound softening fabrics somewhere. All in all, a very nice evening."

  • "Wine was fine. . Food portions for main dishes are too small. I had eggplant parm that was tasty and reasonable size for me (not a huge eater). Sides of ziti were ridiculously small. The chicken cacciatori was way too small and would have left me hungry. If they are going to skimp on main dish portions at least be generous w/side pasta. Bread fresh but terribly boring. dip very nice."

  • "We were seated right away - I guess our reservation helped. Once seated our waitress asked if we were ready to order. What! We just sat down! We ordered cocktails and an appetizer - took 15 minutes for these to arrive to our table. Our appetizer was mussels - and were very good. We ordered our entree and then waited close to an hour. Waitress kept avoiding our table and finally the hostess came over and said she would look into this. At this point, all we wanted to do was eat and run out! We chose this restaurant because Gordon Ramsay supposedly was here to help them out - he should go back for a return episode to see how things are doing - I know we will not be returning unless the waitstaff changes."

  • "Restaurant was small and intimate, loved the lighting and wall feature. Food was good, though I didn't think my steak deserved such a high price tag. We selected the wine that the server recommended. It was very good, though we had to pour our own refills. Server was pleasant."
