  • "I wanted to take my best friend out for a special birthday dinner so I chose La Fondue, the most unique restaurant in the area. We starved ourselves all day but still couldn't come close to finishing all of the delicious courses. I always forget how much I love this place. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is energetic but private at the same time. You can see and feel the energy without hearing everyone's conversations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and they encourage you to take your time and enjoy your experience. Oh and forget about the wine, this place offers the best cocktails in town."

  • "I don't think I'd pay full price for the package, but it's great as a livingsocial deal. We took 4 people and bought food for 5 and we were still completely stuffed. I recommend the white chocolate with toffee for dessert."

  • "We have been here many times, generally for a special occasion. Not much has changed recently, but there's no need. Service is always excellent, and if you enjoy fondue, this is the place to go in the San Jose area."

  • "We chose la fondue for our 1 year anniversary since neither of us had been before and had heard excellent reviews of the place our reservation was at 815 we got there early about 730 and was told we would be seated till our 815 reservation... no problem! So we waited only to see walk ins show up and be put on the list for about the same time 815 shows up and the walk ins were seated before we were and we were not seated until 840 much after our reservation we even discussed leaving and going to applebees were we knew we wouldn't have to wait! How romantic...however wanting the day to be special we decided to wait after we were sat our expierence turned around for the best."

  • "We really enjoyed the night. The atmosphere is very interesting, conducive to quiet elegance yet interesting enough to spark conversation re the accoutrements. The food is very good but the fun is in the experience of cooking your own food, taking your time, and enjoying every morsel. It is fun experience and every nite is an adventure"

  • "We walked in the manager was sitting at the front desk &didn't make eye contact. The manager made a point of telling me that making a request for multiple burners was pointless because they don't guarantee those table for parties of 4. I explained that I understood it was a request & not a guarantee but had requested because of severe allergies. He continued to hassle me about it. I didn't see a point at him lecturing me on the request if they were able to full-fill it. Our server and others that assisted were great. The one complaint I have about it is that the portions of Cheese and Chocolate continue to to get smaller and smaller. We feel like the price has increase but the portions have been smaller."

  • "We've been to La Fondue countless times. This last time, we experienced the best overall service we've had in a very long time. It appears, once you tell the server you've been before they show limited effort. Although the server on our last visit knew we had been before and were using a Living Social deal, she still had recommendations and checked on us continuously. Unfortunately, numerous times at the end of our meals, we've forgotten our to-go salads and this time, she remembered before we had to. The extra effort was noticeable and very much appreciated. Really was a fun experience."

  • "I love this place! It is a great place to go with a group or on a date and enjoy each other's company with a fun meal. Everything from the salad, to the chocolate, and the service are always great."

  • "La Fondue was a great fun food experience!!! All the good was delicious and the service was great, the only issues I had was it was too dark inside to see your food cooking, which made it hard to tell if it was done and there was cold air blowing on me the whole time, other than that I had a blast and stuffed mysekf!!!:)"

  • "Everything was great, the waiter knew EVERYTHING and more, desert was amazing BUT it was soooooooo dark we had to cook with our cell phones. Not a super fun thing to do when u are trying to have a nice evening with friends. Hard to read the menues and cook the food. That's the only complaint. They did bring us extra candles (obviously because the manager didn't was to turn up the light the slightest bit) but it still was too dark."

  • "La Fondue was a fun and exciting new experience. It was Fon due to the exotic meat selection. I tried Kangaroo and Texas Wild Boar for the first time, and enjoyed these specialty meats. I also ate Alligator and it was just as good as the time I ate it before in Louisiana. The pesto Swiss cheese was a perfect start. The dipping sauces were delicious. And the decadent chocolate fondue dessert was irresistible!! Cream puffs, strawberries, and marshmallows are just a few examples of what you dip in the chocolate! Can't wait to go back to this beautiful restaurant!"

  • "Somewhere mid-meal, I looked at my 2 companions and said, "wow, I'm actually paying them to make my own dinner!" I was somewhat kidding, but looking back, a day later, that is indeed what occurred. The ambiance is very nice, romantic, in fact, not quite the right lighting for cooking and making sure your meat is cooked through, and not quite right to see the menu. I was quoted a price for adding a third person to the Fondue for Two price, that turned out to be $12 less than the actual charge on my bill. When I questioned the waiter, his response was, " sorry, I it turned out to be higher than I thought!" Wow, (for the 2nd time), I could hardly believe my ears!! So unprofessional!! I was livid by this time!"

  • "We had the combination dinner which consisted of 4 courses, salad (we took ours home), cheese fondue - we picked the pesto cheese and it was fabulous, then the meat and seafood course which we simultaneously grilled and cooked in lobster bisque, then the incredible over-the-top chocolate fondue desert. Every thing was perfect."

  • "Our first waitress was terrible. She started talking and didn't make any sense. I had a coupon for the wrong place, and she suggested we leave. That wasn't going to happen, I had a party of 10. My friend got up and talked to the manager. He got another waiter who was awesome. I think his name was David. His initials are DM. He got a $100 tip and earned it!"

  • "This place has a great ambiance. I recently took my SO here for dinner and we had an awesome time. Good food, great service & a nice romantic setting. Definitely a bit pricey @ ~$150 for the two of us, but worth the experience and great for scoring major points (she dug it a lot.)"

  • "The service we had was "off." There were six of us and a normally long dinner turned into over 3 hours this time. Our waiter seemed to forget about us at times during the evening. Food was good and the experience of eating fondue was a treat."

  • "My husband and I came to La Fondue way back when we were dating, almost 20 years ago, fairly regularly. Now that we're married with children, we don't get out as often, but we still love to visit La Fondue! I do miss the jester style chairs, but the new look is still fun and different, and its a great way to spend time together lingering over an excellent meal!"

  • "I definitely recommend getting the combination for 2. You get a lot for ~$50pp. If you try some of the more exotic meats, I recommend the elk and the shark. I found the alligator very gristly. The "4 cheese" fondue comes with nutmeg, and it's a really delicious autumnal fondue."

  • "We eat at La Fondue about once a year. The food is absolutely great, and so is the service. The menu can be confusing at first, but the servers will explain and help make good decisions. Personally, we prefer the grilled option, not the fried one, but both are very tasty. Don't skip the chef or the spinach salads. Both are really good. The chocolate fondue is to die for. Decadent, and probably a trillion calories, but no one cares when it is soooo good. Just keep in mind that you'll pay $60-70 per person, excluding alcohol. This is why we keep it for special occasions only."

  • "La Fondue ranks in the top 10 of all restaurants I've been to (and this crosses 5 continents.) It's not an every day kind of place (for the good of your waistline and your wallet,) but as a special occasion destination it cannot be beat. Try everything (just not all on the same visit.) Their salads are ridiculously good. The cheese fondue flavors balance beautifully - just be careful not to fill up on bread. The meats run the gamut from tangy venison to delicate shrimp and flavorful chicken. Just about the time you start to think "I'm not that full, I could have more" the dessert comes out. Rich chocolates mixed with fruits, candies, and if you ask more of the sourdough bread. It leaves you stuffed to the gills and happy as a clam."

  • "We loved the cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue, but the meat fondue was a little overwhelming with so many meats. The server told us what each bite size piece was , but we could not remember "what was what" when cooking! We put several meats on the grill at a time, otherwise it would have taken so long to cook the meats one at a time. It would be helpful if the meats were on a larger plate and somehow "labeled", so we knew what we were eating. I also told the server that if I wanted to cook my own meat I could stay home! It was our anniversary after all. The cheese and chocolate were easy and delicious. Meat was work and not especially tasty!"

  • "We ordered a dinner for two, added veggies and chef rolls for the vegn and child in the group and came out with the right amount of food for our family of four. Perfect meal!"

  • "This was our fourth visit to La Fondue but the first time with our 10 and 15 yesr olds. I felt rushed. We found the wine list limited but did have a decent Malbec. The food was good snd we all enjoyed grilling and cooking the great variety of meats. It was our server who disappointed us. He was a robot going through his process not once making an effort to be appreciative of our presence. Very different compared to our previous visits. I'm disappointed because I held this place in very high esteem but really it's now equivalent to a "Melting Pot experiene" with a better meat selection and a less interesting wine list. It really pains me to write this based on ptevious experiences but maybe you just don 't want to bring kids here?"

  • "Go there at least twice a year, love everything . The service is always to notch with their knowledgable staff."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "I hadn't been to La Fondue in about 10 years. Overall, it was disappointing. The service was poor. The waiter was either in a bad mood, or sad, or or angry. It was clear the waiter had a problem but it wasn't clear whether this was a temporary mood problem or a general attitude problem. The waiter spoke so fast that we could not understand what was said. When we asked for clarification the response was just as fast and just as incomprehensible as the original statement. We asked a question about a particular bottle of wine and never got a response. The waiter forget about the question and the wine. We ordered too much food. I would recommend just getting cheese fondue, a salad, and dessert. Skip the meat."
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "Wow! We enjoyed the "Works"...more food than I could imagine...and all simply scrumptious. We suggest you box the massive salad to save room for the plate of unbelievable meat samplings. Outstanding!!"

  • "La Fondue is one of my favorite restaurants and I save this place for special occasions. I really enjoy the cheese and chocolate fondues. This last visit, I was with two other girlfriends and we ordered the dinner for two and there was more than enough for the three of us. There probably would've been enough for four because we did have some leftovers. Stewart was very willing to give us more appetizers and dessert since these were designed for two and we did order a couple more veggies and desserts. However, after thinking about it, some of these can be cut up into smaller portions and we still would've had an opportunity to try them. This was the first time for my friends and they were very impressed with La Fondue. I will be back."

  • "A friend and I shared "Le Freak", which includes a taste of virtually everything on the menu. We enjoyed the exotic meats as much for the novelty as for the flavor. The cheese fondue (the starter) was extraordinarily good. After initial decisions were made and the cheese fondue prepared at table, the service was vitually invisible (i.e., excellent, efficient, and unobtrusive). The decor is intriguing, and somewhat different from their old digs down the street. La Fondue is an excellent place for a fancy dinner in a relaxed, pleasant environment."

  • "I can't stop coming to this restaurant. The service is outstanding. I recommend getting the secret menu dessert fondue, the "ninja". White/milk chocolate with toffee bits. Thanks to our main waiter Max for a memorable dinner!"

  • "When we arrived, we had to wait about 10 minutes before anyone came and helped us, to be told our table was given to other customers. We were about 17 minutes late from the reservation time n I tried calling the restaurant 3 times to tell them we are on the way but no one picked up. Also we had to always wave to our waitress whenever we needed anything n had to always ask for our water cups to be filled. Great food, horrible service!"
