Ambiance was a little dark considering you are cooking meat, but other than that it was perfect. For a great price we had a four course meal. It was more than what we expected! Service was a bit slow and the restaurant didn't seem overly busy for a Saturday night. We were bringing our two girls (7 and 5) and wasn't sure if they'd have fun there. The place was a bit dark for the kids and they were a little spooked at first, but once the fondue showed up the got busy and it was so much fun. Of course the exceptional service and highest quality of food made this an above and beyond experience, and while it was a bit of a long dinner for the girls overall we all had fun, and my wife really truly enjoyed the experience. We were very grateful for the complimentary birthday champagne and soda w/cherry in it for the girls. The service is excellent, the food is exquisite, and the atmosphere is a true immersion. This last time however, the atmosphere was disturbed by overly excited children speaking much louder than the usually quiet setting. I won't let that ruin it for me though - 20 years and one not-that-bad experience won't derail my appetite's desires. La Fondue is my place of choice for a romantic evening that is cost-friendly and never fails to make the S.O. happy. I recommend the Feast for two, and the cajun shark if it's available. Food was AMAZING and we were very lucky to have a wonderful waitress who really took the time to explain everything to us and was very vigilant to ensure that our fondue was at the proper temperature,etc.
We had a very grumpy 1 year-old with us (unfortunately no one could babysit him), but our waitress made sure he was happy by getting him little snacks and talking to him. Also, the restaurant gave us complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. The only thing I would change about this place is the decor and perhaps the availability of high chairs/booster seats for children (I saw MANY children at the restaurant the night I was there!). We had an 8:45 reservation, yet we were not sat until 9:30. Once I thought I finally heard my name, I find another couple who had been there 10 min jump up and claim that La Fondue had his name wrong. So they sat them and told me, " she just called you, the next table is yours". First, you double check the name WRITTEN on the computer, then give them more then 30 seconds to respond. Needless to say, the rest of our night was cancelled because 9:30 was 45 min after our reservation and therefor we wouldn't be leaving by 1030 anymore. I found it surprising that no one seemed to care we were waiting too long and skipped. I had been there before but he had not, and I knew that it would be pricey so we saved up for it.
If you are going out to a pricier dinner, this is a unique, fun, romantic, delicious way to spend your cash. Make sure to get the Lemon Tarragon dressing on your salad, I'm certain that you can't go wrong with ANY of the cheeses or chocolates, and if you feel like having a bundle of new food experiences get the Wild Thing combination dinner (We did!). And pay close attention to your favorite dipping goodies, because they'll bring extras of whatever you want to dip into the cheese or chocolate.
